Extraordinary Realm from Persuasion System-Chapter 459 - 183: What is Transcendent? Changing the Environment, Breaking the Rules!_3
To step into the Transcendent realm without anything to reference, one could only rely on oneself.
Fortunately, effort yielded rewards. Zhang Beixing’s diligent research truly allowed him to figure out a few things.
Firstly, his ’Heaven and Earth Natural Technique’ had progressed from +41 to +42. Secondly, he had some ideas regarding Transcendent skills.
Perhaps I can indeed start with Lightness Technique and use it to pry open the door to the Transcendent realm, embarking on this grand path!
Zhang Beixing muttered to himself, standing there somewhat lost in thought. "Standing on water without sinking!" This was the Transcendent outcome he had conceived after poring over his notes day and night for several days.
In reality, Lightness Technique also existed. However, the Lightness Technique in reality could only be considered a method to lighten the body. It significantly improved running, jumping, and evasion abilities, and allowed one to stand or move on objects that couldn’t bear weight. One could even harness and lift Vital Energy, using lightweight objects to take off into the air. For instance, the most famous examples were ’walking on jars’—walking on the rims of water jars—or scaling walls to reach rooftops. These all belonged to ’Lightness Technique,’ but this skill had a unique parallel to parkour; even famous martial arts superstars constantly used such techniques in their movies. To put it plainly, Lightness Technique existed in reality, but it wasn’t impressive and showed no Transcendent qualities!
However, the Lightness Technique Zhang Beixing was researching was completely different. It belonged to the true Transcendent realm, wholly defying common physical understanding. It meant using one’s own body to change the surrounding environment and the established rules of the world. And this was the Transcendent meaning Zhang Beixing had grasped! If one couldn’t reach this state, it could not be called Transcendent. For instance, Hidden Force, Bright Force, and Transforming Force, although special, could not achieve the aforementioned changes and thus were not considered Transcendent.
The Lightness Technique Zhang Beixing envisioned—such as walking on water, moving like a light flying swallow, Crossing the River with a Reed, or treading on willows to command the sky—completely defied physical logic. It represented an overturning of the Human worldview and could thus be called Transcendent!
Through introspection, his own research during this period, and the many books he had read, Zhang Beixing realized that if he wanted to create his own Lightness Technique and ascend to the Transcendent realm, the first things he needed to master were his own Power and balance, control over Vital Energy, and an all-around transformation of his body. Only by achieving such a qualitative change could he become Transcendent! 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The medium for his practice could be water. When one could stand on water without sinking, one would have barely touched the threshold of the Transcendent!
This task was extremely difficult. It could even be described as outright impossible. The surface tension of water is very low. Even dropping a finger-sized pebble would break this tension, causing the pebble to sink straight down. Let alone trying to make a person weighing over 200 pounds stand on it without falling in.
That’s entirely a fool’s dream! But how would I know if it’s a fool’s dream or not without trying? Transcendence itself is about making dreams come true, turning illusion into reality! My attributes are already at 140+, not far from 150, far exceeding Human limits. With such physical conditioning, coupled with my recent insights, it might just be possible!
With this thought, Zhang Beixing got busy. In addition to eating, sleeping, and training, he added one more thing to his routine: attempting to walk on water!
Zhang Beixing’s idea was good, and he believed he could achieve it. But the harsh reality soon made him realize: I might be thinking too much!
Even before practicing Lightness Technique, Zhang Beixing had already trained his lower body stability until his stance was as firm as a coiling dragon. He could even perform extreme rafting in the fierce and rapid Yangtze River relying on nothing but a bamboo pole. But the key problem was that now Zhang Beixing was using no external objects at all. He relied purely on himself!
Therefore, while practicing and trying to figure out Transcendent Lightness Technique, Zhang Beixing met with repeated failure. He never succeeded, not even once. Even though he was extremely cautious, the moment he placed his entire body onto the water, the surface tension and balance would be instantly disrupted, like a balloon punctured by a needle. SPLASH! Zhang Beixing would plunge directly into the water, emerging like a drenched chicken.
After failing numerous times, even though Zhang Beixing maintained a positive attitude, he was somewhat frustrated by this point. He was certain his idea wasn’t wrong. The manifestation of Transcendent Lightness Technique was, after all, to stand or move on objects that couldn’t bear weight, thereby breaking physical laws! Water was precisely such an object incapable of bearing weight. Theoretically, success was impossible, but the very purpose of becoming Transcendent was to break the impossible! Unfortunately, despite all his attempts, he hadn’t succeeded even once.
Where exactly is the problem?
Emerging from the water, Zhang Beixing wiped the water from his face, utterly bewildered. He prepared to swim ashore and consult Ancient Texts again, hoping for some inspiration.
Man, my head is so itchy; it feels like I’m about to grow a brain!
...
Having found a direction, Zhang Beixing began to try constantly, determined to achieve the ability to stand on water without sinking and to walk on its surface. Unfortunately, theory was one thing, but practical application was another entirely. Zhang Beixing attempted this many times, but all his efforts ended in failure.
His actions inevitably attracted the attention of Huo Honghao and the others, who saw Zhang Beixing jumping into the lake whenever he had a free moment.
