Extra: Yandere Milfs Obsessed with me!-Chapter 84: You Just Have to Be More Ruthless Than the Others
After spending the night in Neon, Kaiser finally returned very early in the morning. He had only gotten three hours of sleep.
"Fuck... I already have to get up!" he muttered, lying on his back, eyes half-closed, staring at the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. "...I need my eight hours of sleep, damn it."
No one had told him to spend time in Neon. No one really dictated his schedule, but here he was complaining.
It was in moments like this that he remembered Ruby, but alas, whether here or elsewhere, the imminent threat of the reaper remained the same. Despite the advantage of knowing a bit about this world, if he let his guard down, he too could end up with his head chopped off or meet the most atrocious end...
"...Pfff, who said reincarnation into a novel was easy," he said to himself, forcing himself to get up. "...It seems fun and safe as long as you’re in the place of the one reading a webtoon to kill time... fuck! I should fuck over the one who dumped me here... anyway, in the meantime, I should still get ready."
The first lights of the sun filtered through the large windows of Kaiser’s bedroom as he dragged his feet into his bathroom. After a couple of adjustments, he started his bath, all while noting the most important actions to take during the day.
After a few minutes, he left the room this time fully awake, ready to start his day. He quickly dressed and then headed to the dining room.
He had planned to go to the academy today, ten days in advance. Normally the trip should take five days, but he still intended to pay a little visit to a certain needy duchess.
Just thinking about it gave him a new source of energy. "...At this rate, I look more needy than that slut..." Kaiser said to himself, lowering the tension.
As he had two steps left on the stairs, he spotted the maid bustling about preparing the meal. She was literally running in all directions, touching everything.
"Lord Kaiser, you’re already awake." Noticing Kaiser coming down, the young maid stopped dead in a ninety-degree angle to greet him.
"You can continue your work," Kaiser replied nonchalantly before heading to his seat.
Without wasting another second, the young maid quickly got moving again, running left and right.
’...Tch, it seems there’s someone busier than me after all,’ Kaiser thought, watching the girl.
As he was about to take his place, Kaiser realized he wasn’t the only one up early. At the other end, his father; in fact, the father of the body’s former owner...was seated, imperturbable, eating.
"Good morning, Father," Kaiser said respectfully, bowing slightly. "I didn’t expect to see you so early."
Now Kaiser understood why the young maid couldn’t stay still. Count Paragon had come for his meal too. Suddenly Kaiser thought of a familiar scene: his old school principal coming into his class unannounced. It was almost like back then she had that black aura you see in webtoons surrounding her. The temperature would drop abruptly.
An almost imperceptible smile crossed his face. Back then the worst that could happen was temporary expulsion or calling his parents... now it was his life on the line. ’I never thought I’d say something like that, but it was still a good time,’ he thought, pulling himself together.
The count, between bites, noticed Kaiser was there. He looked at him and gestured for him to sit, while continuing his meal.
Without hesitation, Kaiser sat down, patiently waiting for the maid to serve him. He still had a damn long day ahead, so he needed a good, balanced meal to prepare.
"I heard you’re already leaving for the academy," the count said, taking a sip of the luxurious wine served to him.
That caught Kaiser a bit off guard. It was rare for the count to speak during meals unless he had something important to say. Meals usually passed in near-total silence, especially since Isaak was no longer there to tease Kaiser or seek attention.
"...Yes, I planned to go a bit early, to... get used to the buildings a little..." Kaiser replied.
He had said the first thing that came to mind. The count didn’t seem to care about such things either. He calmly set down his glass and picked up his fork to continue his meal. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"...Hmm, do as you wish," the count replied, his voice devoid of emotion. "...Just know that the world has changed since you left. The Kaelen family has been eradicated... You should be careful with the Draken family as well."
Kaiser, about to take a bite while listening to the count, stopped dead hearing the news.
’One of the seven great families, the Kaelen family already eradicated...’ he thought, holding back from swearing at the last minute. ’What the fuck is this? Do I deserve no fucking moment of respite or what? The one who dumped me here just wants one thing: my death?’
From his memories, the elimination of the legendary Kaelen family was supposed to happen much later in the novel’s plot. If things were already here, it could only be one thing: the butterfly effect.
Since Kaiser and his family were supposed to be eliminated from the start and he had prevented it, it was bound to cause butterfly effects, and he expected that, but they had taken a completely different turn. At this rate, the advantage he thought he had would almost be useless.
Suddenly, Kaiser felt like he had lost his appetite. The story hadn’t even started, and he had lost the advantage of knowing the future. It was damn discouraging.
He had to calm down though. Despite all this, there had to be a solution, and he would find it. And besides... the academy was full of important characters he could manipulate at will, which meant he could push his usurper system to its peak.
’It’s not bad already...’ he thought, calming down. He even felt like jumping into the car right away toward the academy. But he had to do one thing at a time.
He continued his meal, while keeping the conversation with his father. They talked for a while, and after that Kaiser could finally leave the manor.
Climbing into the small car already waiting at the entrance, he prepared to depart.
"Lord Kaiser, where are we heading?" the driver asked respectfully. Kaiser had forgotten to give his destination; he had been so lost in his thoughts making assumptions and testing different possibilities that he was losing touch with reality.
"We’re heading to the capital’s port," Kaiser finally replied, sitting with legs crossed. "...But let’s make a detour to the Frostvine duchy first."
After hearing the instructions, the driver hurried to start, and thus the young Paragon’s journey began.
[...]
As the car sped along, Kaiser, seated in the cabin, took stock.
"Over all these years, I’ve only managed to master two of the five movements of the Sundering Eclipse Art..." he said, lightly tapping his fingers on the armrest. "Looks like I’ll need another life elixir to learn the third."
Thinking about it, he immediately recalled the academy, more precisely the image he needed to maintain. After all, his power depended largely on belief.
"Should I keep the charmer one?" he murmured. "I think it’s pretty good, especially since it’ll give me a skill for stabilizing my cold blood..."
"A kind of dashing sword genius with a touch of casualness and arrogance wouldn’t be bad either."
The choices were endless. If he played his cards right, he should do well. No need to play the pig to eat a tiger at the academy; the powerful are respected and have far more opportunities, even if being in the spotlight is a bit dangerous.
"You just have to be more ruthless than the others," Kaiser finally added, sighing while turning his head toward the window, admiring the passing landscape.
