Chapter 109: One Hour Earlier

One hour earlier, while Kris was fighting shitty spiders...

Kaiser stood with his hands in his pockets, his gaze calm. His white shirt was clean, sleeves slightly rolled up. Unlike the others who had taken care to come with armor, he didn’t need any. He had simply put his jacket inside his spatial ring.

Around him, the ground was marked by traces of combat. About thirty goblins already lay on the ground, their inert bodies scattered grotesquely with arms torn off, heads torn off, and other mutilations. Their blood had seeped into the dry earth, and the smell had attracted the worst remaining things in the area.

That was exactly what he wanted.

The ground vibrated slightly. Silhouettes emerged between the trees. Ten hobgoblins appeared, mounted on large wolves with yellowed fangs. These creatures were different from ordinary goblins. Their posture was upright, their gaze attentive. They held their weapons methodically.

Their musculature was dense without being excessive, giving them strength close to that of orcs while retaining good speed. The wolves advanced in formation, disciplined, ready to charge.

Kaiser sketched a mocking smile.

"Finally something a bit more interesting."

He bent his knees slightly, then jumped. His body left the ground with ease, without unnecessary explosion. In mid-air, his eyes lit up with a cyan glow.

<Eye of Perception>

His aura instantly stimulated his brain. The world seemed to slow down. The wolves’ movements became readable. The hobgoblins’ muscle tensions, their intentions, their trajectories. He saw neither mana nor their level, but he didn’t need to. Their micro-movements spoke for them. He could easily deduce their next actions.

He landed in the center of the group.

His bluish aura briefly deployed, crushing the dust on the ground. Before the hobgoblins could even give an order, Kaiser was already in motion.

One of the wolves leaped. Kaiser pivoted on his back foot, let the jaw pass a few centimeters from his flank, then struck. His knee smashed into the beast’s skull. A dry crack rang out. The wolf collapsed without a sound.

In the same motion, Kaiser grabbed the hobgoblin still in the saddle by the arm, yanked violently, and hurled it to the ground. Before the creature could get up, a palm strike slammed down on its throat, crushing it with brute force. The body stiffened, then went limp.

Two wolves came head-on. Kaiser advanced instead of retreating. He feinted right, then slid left. His fist struck the first wolf’s muzzle, breaking the bone. Without stopping, he seized the second by the nape, lifted the beast with one arm, and smashed it against the ground. The impact was brutal. The earth cracked slightly.

A hobgoblin attempted a lateral attack with a short axe. Kaiser simply tilted his torso. The weapon passed beside his shoulder. He responded with a direct kick to the abdomen. The creature was hurled backward, crashing into a tree. Kaiser disappeared from its field of vision a fraction of a second later. He reappeared in front of it and crushed its sternum with a heel strike.

"In reality, you’re just trash."

Kaiser smoothed his hair back with a mechanical gesture while advancing.

"Rooaaah!!!"

One of the hobgoblins shouted an order. The two wolves charged in a cross pattern. Kaiser pushed off the ground, leaped between them, briefly placed his foot on one’s back to change angle, then struck. A punch for the first, an elbow for the second. Both beasts collapsed almost simultaneously. He grabbed an axe and sliced off the heads of the Hobgoblins.

In a few minutes, only one last enemy remained.

"Already over?"

He appeared behind it, grabbed its head with both hands, and ripped it off.

Silence fell again.

Around him, ten hobgoblins and their mounts lay on the ground. None had had time to coordinate a real attack. None had managed to touch him. Kaiser straightened calmly. His shirt was intact. Not a trace of blood on his black pants. He was neither out of breath nor tense.

He glanced briefly at his hands, then around him.

"Super-rare rank, enhanced intelligence, mounts. That was supposed to be the most annoying combination in the exam."

He shrugged.

"In reality just a waste of time with annoying pieces of shit."

In the distance, other candidates fought in heavy armor, covered in sweat and wounds. Kaiser put his hands back in his pockets and resumed his leisurely walk, leaving a field of bodies behind without even turning around.

[Ding! You have attracted the attention of numerous spectators.]

The system’s mechanical voice echoed calmly in his mind, without the slightest emotion. Kaiser did not slow down. He continued advancing, hands in his pockets, walking carelessly over the still-warm monster corpses.

"I have no intention of hiding my power like the simps in other novels. I want everyone to understand that I can fuck up their races. And that I’m not joking."

[Isabella Donoghan is surprised by your aura level. She thinks that in the absence of mana, Kaiser is a warrior with high potential.] 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

A discreet smile stretched Kaiser’s lips.

’Surprised, huh... This is only the beginning, guys.’

’I’m going to humiliate them. Beat them in the most violent way possible. And if by misfortune Kris is still in this exam, he’s going to have a very bad time.’

He slightly raised his eyes to the overcast sky, as if addressing the system itself.

This is the perfect moment to get noticed. With a bit of luck, I’ll finally get a decent skill.

[Katrina feels a strong murderous intent toward you.]

Kaiser sighed, visibly weary.

"That bitch..."

His gaze hardened, though his face retained its usual calm.

"Don’t worry. You’re first on my list. I’ll slit your throat when the time comes."

He had in no way forgotten their differences, and Katrina would pay for Ruby’s death with her life.

[Ariana Hornraven shows slight interest in your true level.]

Kaiser finally stopped. He stood in the middle of the corpses. He clicked his tongue then said mentally.

’Status.’

The information appeared immediately in front of him.

"With this power... it’s hard to believe anyone could rival me."

He resumed walking, almost murmuring to himself.
