Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 72 -
Fu Fong stared at Bai Ming for a long moment.
The firelight reflected in his eyes.
This woman... was not the same Bai Ming he knew.
Before, she used to lower her head.
She used to follow him everywhere.
Even when he scolded her, she would only smile and endure it.
But now she stood there with a spatula in her hand, protecting her food like a warrior.
Fu Fong’s face darkened.
"Enough," he said coldly.
He stepped forward.
"If you won’t hand it over, I’ll take it myself."
Bai Ming’s eyes sharpened.
"Don’t come closer," she warned.
But Fu Fong ignored her.
He walked straight toward the bundles beside her blanket.
Fu Qin and Fu Lin clung to Bai Ming’s clothes, frightened.
"Mother..." Fu Lin whispered.
Bai Ming tightened her grip on the spatula.
"I said don’t touch it."
Fu Fong bent down anyway.
Just as his hand reached the bundle—
A firm voice suddenly spoke.
"Stop."
Everyone turned.
A man had stepped forward from the watching crowd.
It was Han Fuji.
He walked calmly toward them.
Fu Fong frowned. "This has nothing to do with you."
Han Fuji stopped beside Bai Ming.
His voice remained calm.
"But it does."
He glanced at the bundle on the ground.
"Those things belong to her."
Fu Fong laughed coldly. "Who are you to say that?"
Han Fuji looked straight at him.
"I saw it myself."
The crowd became quiet.
Han Fuji continued, his voice steady.
"Before we left the last town, Bai Ming used her own money to buy those supplies... I also went to get things for my self as well and I saw you two in the market as well as those other couple from before."
He pointed at the bundles.
"Food. Salt. Blankets. All of it."
A murmur spread through the crowd.
Fu Jia’s face turned red.
"That’s nonsense!"
Han Fuji did not raise his voice.
"If you don’t believe me, ask the shopkeeper at the west market. I was there when she paid."
Fu Fong’s hand slowly pulled back from the bundle.
His face looked ugly.
Aunt Fu stepped forward angrily. "Even if she bought them, she is part of the Fu family! Everything should belong to the family!"
Han Fuji shook his head.
"No."
His voice became a little colder.
"She bought them with her own money."
"Those things belong to her and her children."
The watching crowd nodded.
Some people even whispered.
"He’s right."
"I remember seeing her buy things that day."
Aunt Fu’s face twisted with anger.
Fu Jia clenched her fists.
But they could not say anything more.
Fu Fong stood there silently for a moment.
Li Manman suddenly stepped forward.
Her voice sounded soft, almost innocent.
"Even if those bundles belong to her... and even if she bought them with her own money..." she said slowly, looking at Han Fuji.
"While she and young master Fu Fong were still married, anything they had should belong to both of them."
She paused and tilted her head slightly.
"But you keep defending her like this..." she added lightly. "You almost made me confused... whether you are her husband instead."
The moment those words fell, the crowd stirred.
Several people began whispering.
One woman leaned toward her husband. "Did you hear that? Why is that man defending her so much?"
Her husband frowned. "Hmm... it does sound strange."
Another man muttered quietly, "Maybe there is something between them."
A few people chuckled under their breath.
"Ah... this is getting interesting."
Aunt Fu’s brows lifted sharply.
Fu Fong’s expression darkened immediately.
He slowly turned his head to look at Han Fuji again.
Then he began walking toward him.
His steps were slow, dragging slightly on the dry ground.
When he stopped in front of Han Fuji, he raised his hand and pointed straight at him.
"You came out of nowhere defending my wife," Fu Fong said coldly.
His voice grew louder.
"Tell me... what kind of affair are you two having?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The crowd gasped.
The whispers grew louder.
Fu Jia’s eyes suddenly lit up with anger.
"Yes! That must be it!" she shouted.
Before anyone could react, she rushed forward.
She grabbed Bai Ming’s hair harshly.
"You shameless whore!" Fu Jia screamed. "So you were cheating on my brother all this time!"
Fu Qin and Fu Lin cried out in fear.
"Mother!"
But Bai Ming did not scream.
Her eyes flashed coldly In the next second
She pushed Fu Jia hard.
Fu Jia stumbled back.
Then,
Smack!
A loud slap echoed across the camp.
Bai Ming’s hand had landed firmly on Fu Jia’s face.
The entire campsite went silent.
Fu Jia froze.
Her head turned to the side from the force.
A clear red handprint slowly appeared on her cheek.
Bai Ming stood there calmly, her chest rising slightly.
Her voice was cold and steady.
"Watch your mouth."
Fu Jia held her burning cheek in shock.
The clear sound of the slap still hung in the air. Everyone in the camp stared.
No one expected Bai Ming to hit her back.
Fu Fong’s face instantly turned dark.
Seeing his sister slapped in front of everyone, anger rushed to his head. He strode toward Bai Ming, his hands already raised.
"You dare hit my sister?!" he shouted.
His palm lifted high, ready to strike her.
But before his hand could fall—
A strong hand suddenly grabbed his wrist mid-air.
"Enough."
Han Fuji’s voice was calm but firm.
Fu Fong struggled, trying to pull his arm free. "Let go!"
Han Fuji did not move. His grip tightened for a moment, then he pushed Fu Fong aside.
Fu Fong stumbled two steps back.
At the same time, Han Fuji reached out and pulled Bai Ming behind him, shielding her with his body.
The sudden movement made Bai Ming’s body bump lightly against his chest.
She froze.
For a moment she became stiff and speechless.
Her eyes lifted slowly to look at him.
She had not expected anyone to protect her like this.
Especially not him.
Han Fuji stood firmly in front of her like a wall.
His eyes were cold as he looked at Fu Fong.
"If you want to argue, argue with words," he said. "But if you try to hit a woman in front of everyone, then you are no better than a bully."
Fu Fong’s face twisted with anger.
"That woman is my wife!"
Han Fuji did not move.
"Your wife?" he replied calmly. "The last time I checked you are both divorced.. How dare you still call her your wife.. have you gone mad!?"
The crowd gasped softly.
Fu Fong’s eyes turned red with anger. He began cursing loudly.
"You—!"
But before he could rush forward again, someone from the crowd had already run to call the head guard.
Heavy footsteps soon approached.
"Enough!"
The head guard pushed through the crowd with a stick in his hand. His face was cold and annoyed.
"What is going on here this time?" he asked sharply.
The exiles around them quickly began explaining.
One man pointed toward Fu Fong.
"He tried to take her food."
Another woman added, "Then he tried to hit her when she refused."
The head guard listened with a dark face.
When he finished hearing everything, he lifted his stick slightly and pointed it at Fu Fong.
"You," he said coldly. "Leave that woman alone."
His voice grew sharper.
"You two are no longer husband and wife. If I see you causing trouble again, you will regret it."
Fu Fong clenched his fists.
But he did not dare argue with the guard.
The head guard waved his stick impatiently. "Go back to your place. Now."
Fu Fong glared at Han Fuji with deep hatred before turning away.
Aunt Fu quickly grabbed his arm, pulling him back.
"Come," she hissed.
Fu Jia also followed, still holding her swollen cheek.
Soon the three of them disappeared into the crowd.
The head guard then turned to Bai Ming.
His expression softened only slightly.
"Stop causing unnecessary trouble," he warned. "Stay quiet and take care of your children."
He glanced briefly toward the dark road ahead.
"The barren lands are not kind. If you keep stirring conflict, someone may hurt you there."
After saying that, he turned around and left.
With the guard gone, the watching exiles also began leaving.
Without the drama, no one had a reason to stay.
Soon the noisy crowd dispersed.
The campsite slowly returned to its quiet rhythm.
Only Bai Ming, Han Fuji, and her two children remained there.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Bai Ming slowly stepped away from him.
She lowered her head slightly and bowed.
"Thank you," she said softly. "You helped me again."
Han Fuji still looked a little angry. After a moment, he let out a quiet sigh.
"Don’t worry," he said.
His voice was calmer now.
"I won’t let Fu Fong do anything to you. Not here... and not in the barren lands."
Bai Ming blinked in confusion.
She looked up at him, her brows slowly knitting together.
One question lingered in her mind.
"Why are you helping me?" she asked quietly.
