Neil kicked away another bear but suddenly all the Frost Bears paused and began to retreat.

The battlefield full of corpses soon was vacant of any alive Frost Bears, Neil stood there, panting.

Two eyes glowed in the fog, a silhouette with a dreadful presence appeared.

Ileana pointed it out, her eyes wide and body shaking.

Noticing it too, he turned back, his grip on the blade instantly tightening.

’This...’ he didn’t have to think, this was the ruler of all Frost Bears, the Beast King.

All elven archers and subjects were frozen stiff.

’We have to escape!!’ Neil was no match for that thing, it was already in the 3rd Origin.

With great urgency, he made the domain move in the opposite direction.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

A roar that tore the ground and made all the subjects’ ears bleed rang out, a glow appeared in the fog.

"L- Lord, please leave, we will try to hold him back..." Leon, although his hands were shaking, muttered with determination.

Neil didn’t plan on escaping alone, but even if he did, there was no way he could.

ROOAAAARRRRRR

Magnar roared with equal madness and used magma breath with all his might.

He too wanted Neil to run, sending a mental signal that he would hold back this thing.

But then, an enormous pillar of white light descended over Magnar, instantly freezing him in extremely thick ice.

His life force began to weaken, as slowly the light began to fade from his eyes.

But the light pillar shooting out of the silhouette’s mouth didn’t pause, soon moving to the domain, creating a mountain of ice along the way.

"NOOOOO!!" Neil’s eyes were bloodshot, using Aquamorph he tried to stop the light pillar.

BANG

But right at that moment, Ileana pressed her palms against the ground, strange green patterns forming all over her body.

She had awakened her memories and the potential from her past life at this moment of despair.

A thick vine shot out of the ground as she poured out every drop of her energy and struck Neil’s back, pushing him far away from the light pillar...

And then...

BOOOOOOOOM!!

The entire domain was struck by the light pillar, the buildings broke and froze up, everything was swallowed by a very powerful and thick layer of snow.

Ileana, all the elven archers, the guardian, all of them were frozen by the ice of a 3rd Origin beast.

Neil, stumbling, balanced himself and looked back.

Everything was swallowed, all of them... no sign of life visible in the thick ice mountain.

Neil’s head started spinning, his heart feeling as if it was being pierced by a blade and his vision blurred.

The feeling of denial filled his mind before the crushing reality struck him.

Ileana, his beloved; Ray, Fay, Bob, Rob, Mob, Leon, all of them were gone, their dead bodies faintly visible through the mountain.

UGHH...

AGHHHHHHHHH

Neil clutched his head, his claws tearing his own skin, his mind filled with unbearable pain.

Why did everything he love get stolen away? Looking at Ileana’s face, the sight of all his subjects made him lose all semblance of sanity.

Surrendering completely to the beast within him.

The pain broke him, this feeling of loss was far worse than when he lost Jane, he had just gotten a big family and now everyone was gone.

The phantom released a sickening roar, dashing towards the Beast King.

The body of the 3rd Origin Frost Bear was still hidden behind the fog, but the glowing eyes were fixed on him.

A powerful gust of wind struck Neil and then the claws, bigger than Neil’s body, struck him.

BOOOOOOM!!

A big part of the ground was torn away as the claw struck Neil, his feet were blasted into a bloody mess while his body hit the mountain of ice.

CRACK

That should have killed him instantly, but his armor began to crack.

One of its newly awakened skills had protected him against a sure death strike, but it started to crack and fall apart.

Neil returned to his original form, his body badly broken, blood constantly pouring out.

His back was pressed against the ice mountain, eyes barely open as he struggled to breathe.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Another pillar of light shot out and struck him, instantly freezing him and the surrounding area into a very thick ice mountain.

Finally the faint glow disappeared and without a sound the beast vanished.

Neil’s thoughts were fading, cold seeping into his body, with no air around him.

He tried to move, but the ice was very sturdy, even at his peak strength he wouldn’t be able to break it easily.

With his body completely frozen, he couldn’t even try transforming into a phantom.

But would Analyzer work? Was it really the end?

But even if it worked, would the next outcome be different?

His heart was filled with sorrow, he wanted to protect them all, protect Ileana, she must have suffered so much pain.

Maybe it was just better to let everything come to an end, maybe they could be together in the next life if it did exist.

He couldn’t even focus on Nemo’s calls.

Neil’s eyes were shut tight, despair, hopelessness and darkness visible.

Suddenly a message popped in his mind, instantly his body started to undergo rapid changes.

His heart, mind, lungs, everything began to change.

An invisible layer appeared around his heart, clearing all thoughts, all emotions from his mind, shutting it all down.

Taking away all sadness, pain, rage, everything.

His metabolism slowed down greatly, to the point he wouldn’t need air, water or food for a long time.

’Is this why I got it?’ Neil just sat there frozen in ice, no hope or thought of doing anything.

Time continued to pass, he just sat there feeling the cold.

Occasionally, he would hear the sound of beasts from outside, but nothing that bothered him.

Aside from the bone chilling cold and the pain of all his injuries, his missing legs constantly reminded him that he was still alive.

Days passed as he just sat there.

Neil couldn’t even die, his body surviving on its own, just pain was all that remained.

Maybe a month or a few months had passed when Neil suddenly felt a warm sensation.

The cracked locket on his chest, given to him by Ileana, trembled faintly and glowed, sending all the energy into Neil’s body.

Though this bit of energy could do nothing against all his injuries or the cold, it reminded him.

It reminded him of her, of his family and the home he had built.

’I have to... move out...’ a thought suddenly was born in his mind, growing stronger the more this faint warmth reminded him of her.

’Even if I die, I have to do it near a link. I have to bring them back...’ Neil’s will, growing at a terrifying rate, filled him with a need to break this mountain.

He didn’t even want to think if Analyzer could bring him back to the right moment or not, he had to do something.

[Aquamorph Activated!]

A burning liquid surrounded Neil’s left hand, creating a strange noise as it came into contact with the ice.

As his skin started burning, pain filled his senses, but Neil poured out even more essence, drowning his hand in lava.

Trying to create space around it.
