Evolving Infinitely From An E-Class Hero-Chapter 96: Resonance
Sector D Airport.
Boomerang Man rampaged through the lobby of the airport destroying any blue skinned creature in sight.
"While Bionic is on the runway handling that monstrous Calamity Creature, I will do my best to eliminate these punny, little ones."
Bam!
He slammed a boomerang against one of them crawling on the ground hoping to attach itself to a host.
Swing!
He flung the boomerang in hand and it sliced through multiple mini Calamity Creatures in a matter of seconds.
"Twelve..."
"Thirteen..."
"Fourteen..."
He counted each and every confirmed kill he registered as he moved with skill and precision.
Swing! Swing! Swing!
He flung three boomerangs at once, they flew into the air and circled unnaturally till they hit different clusters of mini Calamity Creatures.
"Skill: Oscillating Dance!"
"That’s Twenty-five now!"
"Ugh! These smaller creatures are definitely offsprings of a larger, much more stronger version of them... I have to keep my eye peeled so it doesn’t attack me from a blind spot!"
The smaller fry of Calamity Creatures banded together to form a mountain mold as tall as two times his height, and they progressed forward looking to bury him with their sheer numbers.
Their shadow casted over him as they inched closer and closer. Normally he would have been frightened and attempted to flee, but he stiffened his expression and crouched low to reduce their impact time. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"You think you’ve got me now! I’m just getting started! You all are not even that strong!"
Shiioom!
He pulled out two larger and sharper boomerangs, and burst forward with incredible speed.
"Skill: Moon Fang Step!"
With that incredible speed, he built an insane amount of momentum to burst through the mountain of mini Calamity Creatures and out the other side, thus destroying their structure and causing them to crumble.
Just before they all reached rock bottom, he broke his speed, tilted swiftly on his toes to face the falling apparatus.
"Skill: Dual Wielding— Twin Arc Style."
Shiioom!
He gripped both boomerangs tightly in his palms and began slashing through the creatures with the razor sharp edge of the boomerangs.
He was fast, making sure to get every single one of them before they reached the ground. Performing a flurry of crisscross slashes, overwhelming them with curved strikes from all sides.
"Argghhh!"
Shiioom!
The last of them burst into pieces with purple blood spewing all over the lobby of the airport with most of it smearing all over his suit.
His chest heaved up and down as he wiped the purple blood off his face.
"Tch! Disgusting..."
Then—
Slither.
Slither.
Slither.
The familiar watery, slurpy sound of a miniature Calamity Creature moving behind him.
Kpim.
His eyes shone bright as he realized what that meant. Without looking at that direction, he flung his boomerang to the side and with a flick of his wrist, it made its way to the creature and destroyed it into a million pieces and then came back to rest in his grasp.
Shiioom!
Grab!
"Like I said... You all are not even that strong..."
"That’s thirty in less than five minutes..."
He let out a huge sigh and secured his boomerang back before making his way towards the exist.
"Now that I’m done here, I can go see if I might be of any help to Bionic... Hmph, he’d probably not need my help cause he’s the strongest, but it be nice to watch him fight for once..."
Step!
A loud footstep interrupted him and stopped dead in his tracks as he was about to grab the door handle that leads to the outer sections of the airport.
Step!
Step!
Step!
It was ominous and carried a lot of weight, it was immediately clear to him that this one was no small fry like the ones he had just destroyed.
Step!
He spun around to search for the origin of the footstep. His eyes darting around every nuke and cranny of his view.
"Show yourself..." He said to himself.
Step!
"There!"
The footsteps finally had an origin location but the creature wasn’t still visible to him.
"Come on!" He yelled as he crouched low, falling into a fighting stance to engage the creature once it showed itself.
Step!
A huge foot made an appearance and slammed to the ground from behind a wall.
His heart sank to his groin area as fear and anxiety crawled from the back of his neck.
Step!
The creature finally showed its full appearance as it departed entirely form the confines of the wall.
Step!
Boomerang Man gasped as he took in the view of the Calamity Creature that stood in front of him, it was huge with massive arms and legs and a massive head.
Cold sweat broke out immediately on his forehead as he stared at the creature.
Fear.
Yes, he was extremely scared. Never in his whole heroic career has he ever faced something like this.
"Huh?!"
"What is this? Where are these creatures coming from... I’ve never..."
He panted heavily as he eyes widened in awe.
"There’s no need trying to find logic when dealing with things like this... Why is it that they do what they do? The very reason they are called villains is because they lack logic..."
"Tch! Look at this thing. It’s huge! It looks the same as the one from the seaport at Sector C... But from what I’m seeing it’s probably several degrees..."
Vroom!
"Huh?!"
He gasped, as the Calamity Creature huddled a metal chair towards him with great speed.
Luckily, he reacted even faster to pull out an even bigger boomerang that sliced the metal chair in half before it hit him.
"...Stronger!"
Boom!
The sliced chair crashed into the door and evey shattered to a million pieces behind him.
He turned to and leaped a few feet forward to avoid the glass shards from hitting him, but that also meant he took his eyes off the Calamity Creature for a split second.
In the blink of an eye, the Calamity Creature appeared behind him and just when it was about to land its massive fist on the back of his neck, Boomerang Man flung a boomerang to the side and used the magnetic recall system on his wrist thus his body flung towards the direction he threw the boomerang.
Bang!
The creatures fist landed heavily on the ground shattering the tiles into several chunks and pieces upon impact.
"Thanks to my quick thinking..."
"Grrr!"
He turned and grabbed the boomerang in his grasp.
"Skill: ..."
He glanced up and was met with the most terrifying view of his entire existence.
The Calamity Creature had already met up with him and its fist was directly in front of him with just inches as longs a short strand of hair.
Bam!
Then, everything went black.
—
Boomerang Man woke up, his vision blurred to the fullest, his head ached with the force of a thousand horsepower. He tries moving his limbs but to no avail.
His vision cleared slowly to reveal his suit bloodied all over, a mixture of both the purple calamity creature’s blood and his blood.
Blood trickled down from his head and into his eyes further blinding him the more.
"Sigh!"
He let out a massive sigh of disappointed as he raised his palms to his eyes in an attempt to restore his vision.
"What happened?" He asked himself.
"How long was I out?"
He tried and tried to move, but the pain was way too much for his body to bear. But then, with a last ditch effort he pulled himself to his feet.
He glanced at the Calamity Creature, it just stood there looking at him, heaving killing intent in a every breathe it exhaled.
"Did I perform the skill? No... I didn’t have enough time."
"Huh... I don’t think I can make it... This is it for me."
He dropped his palms and flopped his head towards the ground as if giving his bleeding head the permission to bleed out so he’ll die.
Then a sudden influx of memory filled his mind keeping him in a state of animation.

"Yeah, there’s only one problem..."
Jake sat up and criss crossed his legs right on the concrete floor. "What’s that?"
"Jake, you don’t know how to bring out your best do you?"
Jakes face turned red and his expression twisted into that of someone that is offended like Reno said some sacrilegious thing.
"Huh!? Are you saying I haven’t been giving it my best?!" He replied with an angry tone.
Reno spread out his palms against his chest as a sign of peace, "I’m not saying you haven’t, I’m saying you can’t..."
Jake’s face twisted even further, "Why because I don’t have meta powers like you?..."
"Well, it depends on how you look at it... It’s different for me because I have the Forever Core whose innate ability is continuous evolution— I have no limit, therefore theoretically I cannot give in my ’best’"
Reno pointed at him, "But for you, you have a limit... But you don’t know how to reach that limit— You don’t know how to bring out the best in you."
Jake let out a huge sigh and glanced at the floor before glancing back at Reno, "How do you suggest I bring out my best then... "
Reno shrugged my shoulders slightly, "That’s for you to find out, all I can do is tell you the problem..."
"Right now, you can only piece together undervalued data on yourself, you can’t imagine a version of yourself that has fully reached or better still surpassed his limits... "
"Sure you’ve gotten better and you have all these enhancements, but if you can’t imagine your peak, forget about beating me... You’ll never even be able to measure up to someone like Trooper or an A-Class Hero..."
"You have to piece together a valuable data about yourself and put it into a useful information that can help you succeed... Jake..."
