Evolving Infinitely From An E-Class Hero-Chapter 80: Sparks In The Quiet
I sat in the living room of my apartment watching TV after I had finished my morning routine and exercise. It was a peaceful day in Sector D so I decided to ease out the stress today.
Especially after facing two S-Class heroes on a head to head brutal collision in the space of one week, I needed a little rest.
I hadn’t gone to the abandoned warehouse alone today, Jake and accompanied me and we both trained together, although I was several times out of his league he still tried as much as he could to keep up.
We had been hanging since the previous day after my fight with Lady Phoenix and apparently he was contacted by the ISA as a last resort in attempt to get me to back off.
If it weren’t for him, I would have ended an S-Class hero there and then in the heat of the moment. But it was totally her fault, in my opinion I was merely defending myself.
And now, in light of the new information I got from her during the battle. That all the S-Class Heroes are inching to take a spar shot at me, I think that’s their ego coming to play — did they think they would be untouchable forever?
Jake sat opposite me on the sofa across the living room, munching on a bowl of cereal he prepared.
"You know cereal is not good for you though..." I said leaving a slight smirk across my face.
"Especially with the way you’ve been training nowadays... You seem to be taking the next reassessment day seriously..." I added.
He clanged his spoon against his bowl a looked at me with his mouth full.
"Well you could have said something you genius!" He said and hurriedly spat out the food he had in his mouth into the mouth and dropped it on the floor beside his sofa.
"Yeah, I am taking it seriously. With my level of training now, I would be in the middle ranks of D-Class I hope!"
"Really... D-Class middle ranks, off of physically training alone?!"
"Yeah bro, you should see my abs! I can count six!"
He stood up and raised his sweaty shirt till his midsection was completely exposed.
"One, two, three, four, five, six!"
He counted the number of muscle pecks on his abs, indeed he had built a decent shape and his entire physical appearance were decent for someone who had been training secretly.
"So when were you going to tell me that you were training intensively to climb up the ranks on reassessment day?" I said, scratching my chin and leaning into the couch.
He scoffed and raised an eyebrow. "Hmph... Whatever reason you refused to tell I and Ellie about that..." He pointed at the glowing golden core in my chest. "... that’s why I didn’t tell you..."
"Oh... Hehe, good point... And look how ripped you’re, with your amazing boomerang skills I think you could be in top ranks of D-Class" I said.
"Ha! Don’t patronize me..." He replied, and then a second long quiet fell into the living room aside from the sound of the TV.
"Hey, what of Ellie... Haven’t heard from her lately" I asked with a furrowed eyebrow.
"Well, last I heard to moved Sectors..."
Kpim!
I immediately leaned out of my chair, "Ellie moved towns?" I asked.
"Yeah, about a week ago... She moved with her family to Sector Q where it is less ... You know..."
"Yeah... There’s not much of anything going on in Sector Q... So Ellie has quit the hero game now huh?"
"Evidently yeah..."
"Damn... Looks like it’s just you and I Jake..." I smiled and pumped out my fist.
"Exactly bro... It’s just you and I Reno..." He replied by pumping out his fist into the air and we both lowered our fist in unison.
"So tell me..." Jake started.
"Yeah..."
"How the fuck did you and two S-Class heroes fight in less than a space of a week... Explain that to me!"
I bursted out in laughter and it took a minute or two before I could regain composure and started talking.
"Well, you were already aware of the first one with Golden Guardian yeah..."
"Yeah I am... He came out of nowhere and attacked you... How did that of Lady Phoenix go? Did you guys have a disagreement or something?"
"Well, she was somewhat testing out her abilities on me... If that makes any sense..."
"What?"
"I know right it doesn’t make any sense... She said as an S-Class hero its really hard to find someone that would match their level of strength and power so due to that lack of competition, they loose their fighting spirit... She said all the S-Class Heroes hoped to get a piece of me one day..."
Jake’s mouth hung open like an oven starring at me in awe and disbelief.
"You’re being serious..." He finally said.
"I kid you not bro..." I replied.
"So you’re telling me that all the S-Class Heroes would definitely engage with you the moment they set their eyes on you... What if one of them is on their way right now as we speak!"
He began glancing around the living room, his gaze shooting to each and every window in the room.
"Well, heroes are forbidden to fight against eachother so... I think they would think twice before attacking me..."
"Not if they’re not members of the Guardian Corps... You’ve met three already in less than a week it’s remaining one..."
I nodded my head in agreement and glanced at him, his gaze were still glued to my figure.
"But one thing I know is that... If I can go against the Golden Guardian and still come out alive, and if I can beat Lady Phoenix who is also a member of the Guardian Corps to a pulp, I think I can take on any hero out there regardless of the Rank." I said with all seriousness etched in my voice.
"Alright bro... But I suggest you defend don’t go attacking heroes yourself!" Jake said with a wide grin.
"Yep..." I replied with a smirk. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Are you nervous?" I said.
"Yes... Tomorrow is reassessment day, of course I’m nervous... Are you?"
I shrugged my shoulder and glanced at the TV and then back to him.
"Erm... A little bit."
