The wind gushed past me as I kicked off the rooftop, the reinforced surface of the ground beneath me caved in under the sheer force of my launch.

I broke through the sound barrier, their wasn’t anytime to waste, innocent civilian lives were instantly going to be whipped out the second those ballistic missiles hit the Whistling Derrick.

Air resistance clawed at my body, but I blasted forward, blasting the energy from my gauntlets to give me further speed.

"Forever Core..."

"How fast I’m I going?"

The Sonic boom hit again and I almost instantly, I could hear the glass windows on the cars and buildings several meters ahead shatter.

The Forever Core system flashed a bright red notification across my field of view.

[Warning: Atmospheric Friction is increasing]

"I don’t care... faster."

[Vessel, a good suggestion to activate the helmet to shield your head from the heat]

"Huh... Yes that’s right... Do that!"

I clenched my teeth as the world around me blurred, the rain began to show face but in tiny pellets of pain slapping against the screen of my helmet and the armor itself. But I kept going, eyes narrowing of the faint red markers now blinking in my HUD.

Five deadly dots screaming across the sky.

Whoooooshhhh!

I watched them fly by with great speed in the distance and then I pumped harder in pursuit.

Five ballistic missiles. Five weapons with a combined force capable of erasing a city. I couldn’t afford to miss even one.

"Huh..." I gasped.

"I can just blast them with my Incinerate skill and that would be all..."

[I’m afraid that would not be a wise decision... Vessel]

[That center specifically on absorbing and rechanneling any and all energy into a propelling force...]

"So you’re saying if I blast the missiles, it’ll absorb my blast and channel the energy into it propelling force... So hitting it with Incinerate will only make go faster!"

"So what is the best approach now?"

[The missiles would have to detonate in the air by using brute force such as coming in contact with another missile or something else moving at that speed...]

"Yosh! Forever Core system... Create a trajectory path I can follow to meet adjacently with each and every missile."

[Suggested target priority: Central missile — most likely carrying the nuclear payload.]

"Yosh! Got it!"

I blasted forward towards the direction of the intercontinental ballistic missiles.

[Target Locked: Acquired.]

I closed in and in until I hit one of the projectiles square on its side. The impact blasted me backwards a couple feet. The clouds around split, flashing white as the projectile curved midair and slammed directly into the central missile I was aiming for.

Boom!

The flash came, and then a massive shockwave.

Whoosh!

The fireball bloomed like the sun in the dark rainy clouds of the sky.

Tti-ring.

[Two missiles destroyed. Three more remaining.]

I watched as the blast died down and a little smirk played across my lips.

"That’s good, let’s keep dancing shall we."

Aboard The Whistling Derrick Cruise Deck.

Shhiiiooooooooioommmmmmm!

Lady Phoenix skidded across the broken hull, leaving behind trails if scorched steel. Her black, leather reinforced outfit tore in several places, and their were scars on multiple places of her face.

The spider like Calamity Creature lunged from within the husky of the cruiser interior.

Faster and faster it dashed towards his prey with its legs jagged like spears.

Swish!

It swung its massive sword sharp claws.

Crash!

The limb slammed into the open ground before her, sending shrapnel across the deck.

The creature spat out a deadly dose of it poisonous saliva.

She screamed as she blasted the poison away with her fiery wings, completely Incinerating the acid spat from the creatures mandibles.

"It’s adapting...!" She shouted panting, trying to steady her breathing.

"Almost like as if it was trained!"

"Huh!" She grunted as her flames sputtered for a second, flickering in the rain.

"I can’t hold it much longer..." She whispered.

The creature hissed again, then froze suddenly, its eight eyes blinked erratically and it body twitched

Then it screeched loudly with a guttural like something had attacked it. Just then, a huge and bright flash of light blasted in the sky above and for some reason, it irritated the Calamity Creature.

Then.

The shock wave came next, blasting at the ship and pushing it back just half of an inch but able to cause Lady Phoenix to struggle with her balance.

Just then, the first Calamity Creature came from a blind spot and hit her straight back into the husk of the cruiser, specifically the captains section

Sector A.

"Huh!!"

"Two missiles have been destroyed?" The Apostle’s eyes widened.

President Viola Travis snapped towards him. "What?!!!"

He pointed at the satellite feed. "It just... Vanished. The signal cut. Impact explosion in the sky. Something or someone intercepted it!"

"Impossible," Dr Holtz muttered. "We didn’t deploy anyone else..."

President Viola leaned in, she put her hands over her mouth and furrowed her eyes at the screen and then turned to The Apostle.

"Patch me through to E-Class Hero Skateboard... Reno Renly..."

Midair.

[Warning: Remaining missiles are splitting.]

"Huh..."

"What?! What the fuck!!"

[Each of the three remaining missiles have released two sub missiles.]

"You’ve gotta be kidding me!"

I pushed my core harder, drawing every last drop of energy I had access to.

Energy exploded within me, igniting my skin in radiant circuits. The sky lit up with each blast of speed form my boots. I was as if I was a golden streak of comet, a meteor, burning against time to save the civilians.

"Just hold on, Lady Phoenix..."

Whoosh!

I intercepted another missile, then two in rapid succession.

The sky bloomed with burst of destruction above the clouds.

With every impact I made with the missiles, the blast resonated with every cell and fiber in my body, causing my HO to plummet drastically.

I swiftly activated my Kinetic Shockwave skill to cushion the impact and also absorb the energy for potential use in the near future.
