Evolution Online: I Can Fuse With All Things-Chapter 54: Pride of A Firstborn
Chapter 54: Pride of A Firstborn
Lucien was filled with awe even as they continued walking. What she had just done was absolutely incredible.
He strode forward as they traveled through the dungeon tunnel, back toward the waterfall entrance.
"Excuse me, Lady Gaya." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Gayanna turned her head and frowned.
"Since when did we start shortening names, O great one?"
Lucien sighed quietly.
"At this point, just stop calling me that—it sounds more like mockery than a title befitting respect."
His face became stoic.
"By the way... did you really just sense the presence of the entire continent in a single place?"
Gayanna snickered.
"I know. It is indeed a remarkable feat before mortals, but what can I say? We are the firstborn of creation. And I, the first of the firsts."
Lucien couldn’t take it anymore. He sighed.
"Um, does that mean you know where everyone currently is, or at least where they could be? You basically peered into the Memory of the world, right?"
She shrugged.
"Hm, you could see it as such."
"Then you should be able to tell where people are?"
Gayanna stopped. She glanced back at Lucien and exhaled.
"It’s not that simple. You have the map with you—you can see it. Can you tell where certain people are just from having an overview? Now this is also excluding the fact I avoided the mana of sentient beings as much as I could, because that could overload me with tons of bullshit."
Lucien’s mouth opened slightly, and he nodded.
"Ah. I see..."
’So there’s no way for me to find that son of a thief, TittyTitan. I haven’t forgotten. I will find you, and I will get every bit of my money back. I don’t forget debts.’
They continued forward in silence. After almost thirty minutes of walking, Lucien could finally hear the rushing waters.
’We’re close to the entrance!’
Indeed they were.
Where Evelaine Hollow and Ossyn Woods were located was the region called Mist of the Forgotten. Of course, there were still two other sub-regions that Lucien had not explored.
If Regions were the sizes of nations in comparison, then sub-regions were like cities. However, it was important to note that major Kingdoms like Rhamira existed alongside other sub-regions within a region.
Currently, Lucien was in Thalveine, and this respawn point was called Thalveine’s Edge. Of course, that was because the edge of this region connected it indirectly to the Mist of the Forgotten.
Lucien covered his head as he emerged from the waterfall and passed the cross-legged statue. He walked to the stone dais and finally reached the swampy ground.
Gayanna was also walking around, looking and craning her neck.
Her brows furrowed as she studied the entire place.
Lucien observed her for a moment, then averted his gaze to also admire the vividness of the landscape.
Massive veins of roots that had grown from beneath the ground and twirled around pillars to continue their growth above blanketed the sky of the ruin.
Lucien couldn’t even begin to think about the amount of effort it would take to clear this place and make the sun shine directly on the ruin.
However, he also had a strange notion that this place was some sort of shrine, hidden within a mountain.
At the same time, he wasn’t sure if he was correct. He glanced at Gayanna and lingered for a moment before his subtly smoky voice rang out.
"Does this place ring a bell?"
Gayanna continued to observe. She took a moment to respond as well.
"Feels like a gutter. Why would I mar my pristine memories with such an ugly structure? Did the mortals’ brains rot since we disappeared from the surface of the world?"
Lucien sighed.
’The sense of pride is killing me.’
He turned his expression and focused on the map instead. Before, he had thought there was no way out of Thalveine’s Edge, but apparently there was.
And it was quite simple too.
Lucien squinted his eyes for a moment, the golden glow radiating subtly.
*This is very strange.*
He walked around the swampy area for a bit, using his legs to step into the water, searching for something in particular.
After a while...
"Ah, right there..."
He then bent, dipping his hand into the swamp water to look for something. His eyes could easily pierce through the water despite its murkiness.
The richness of both sight and touch in the game world would convince even Lucien that this wasn’t a game world—if he had never known otherwise.
He finally found the tile and pushed it in, a smile spreading across his face.
’Looks like finding hidden doors wasn’t an exaggeration.’
This was so easy because of his eyes.
Lucien stood and watched as the entire ground began to rumble. All the swampy area trembled slightly, and the murky waters began to recede, soon sinking into the borders of every tile.
After that, the pool in the center of the ruin was finally free of murky waters.
Gayanna watched from the dais where she stood. With her lips downturned, she nodded.
"Hmm. Not bad. You’ve got yourself a good eye, I see. Pun intended, by the way."
Lucien wrinkled his nose.
"There’s nothing punning about your pun."
On the ground was a door and stairs that led deeper into the underground. Lucien glanced at her and waved.
"I’m out."
He entered the underground and began journeying downward, descending in dark spirals for almost forty minutes until he eventually saw a trace of light. And finally stepped out.
He felt fresh, wild air strike him as he stepped out of the cavern space. Gayanna also stepped out from behind him, shutting her eyes tightly for a brief second before slowly opening them.
Lucien threw his arms out.
"The feel of freshness! This is true nature!"
It was insane that even with a Specter 1.0 pro headset, he could still gain such vivid details. He would have almost said he didn’t know why people still went to get capsule pods, if he had never used one himself.
The differences can only be understood by someone who has experienced both.
But still, the acrid scent of the leaves, the verdant color of the forest, the warm touch of the sun’s rays upon his cheek. And the way all these made Gayanna’s golden eyes and porcelain skin radiate with the pristineness of a goddess carved from white marble.
Lucien felt something like stone hammering in his heart. He inhaled deeply and exhaled heavily. Then turned around, speaking in a flat tone.
"Let’s go."
