Evolution Online: Building a Kingdom with 100\% drop rate-Chapter 8: Ch-: Trial
[Name: Fenrick]
[Level: 40]
[Occupation: Squad Leader]
"Level 40... doable." Victor’s eyes narrowed as he looked at him and thought. Unlike the others, whose levels were not even in the double digits and who were having difficulty breathing under the pressure, Victor remained calm but still faked his reaction so they wouldn’t grow suspicious.
All the recruits had assembled, along with twenty grunts and the Captain, who would serve as trial observers.
"Attention, everyone," the Captain said, and everyone turned to look at the Squad Leader.
"I am going to announce the rules of the final trial. Those who survive will be directly promoted to grunts of the organization," the Squad Leader said calmly, then dropped a bombshell. "You are all going to be teleported to an island where you will hunt each other, and the last 100 who survive will be promoted. Oh, and let me tell you—if within a month the numbers are not reduced to 100, we will personally hunt you down. And at that time, if you’re lucky, you might survive. So I suggest you all not hold back."
When the players heard the Squad Leader’s words, their eyes widened in disbelief. Many of their faces turned paper-white, and sweat trickled down their foreheads.
"Prepare yourselves. You will be teleported within a few minutes," the Squad Leader said with a malicious grin.
After the guards left, there was a tense silence before everyone erupted into chaos.
"Damn this shit game!"
"Sob... sob... I’m weak. I don’t want to die!"
"There are at least more than 200 of us..."
"Fuck, if the other places are like this... there will be many deaths in real life."
Victor watched as many of them panicked, while a few broke down in tears.
Victor watched indifferently as his eyes swept across all the players and saw that many of them had already started to form groups, which in his eyes was foolish, as leaders would use them as cannon fodder and eventually backstab them.
Among the players, Victor immediately recognized a few familiar faces.
"As expected, they have grown stronger."
They were Rachel, Andrew, and Olivia—the top players.
Victor opened the player leaderboards, and his lips curled into a smirk.
Woosh.
Soon everyone vanished from their places as they were teleported away.
With Victor’s current physical condition, teleportation no longer caused him nausea like it had before, but repeated teleports still left him feeling slightly dizzy.
When the final teleportation ended, Victor found himself standing in a different place.
"This place is really the same as before," Victor mumbled, taking in the vast wheat fields and rugged terrain. He had been teleported here for nearly a minute, and the trial had already started, yet he still found himself pausing to admire the natural beauty.
The occasional chirping of insects and birds could be heard, but aside from that, there was no trace of any other humans.
"Mic testing, 1... 2... 3... Everyone on the island, I announce that the trial has officially started, and no one will arrive on the island for at least a week, so don’t expect any aid if you are injured."
For Victor, this was good news. The reason no one would arrive was because they assumed that within a week, all the cannon fodder would die, and the ones worth watching would be those who survived the first week. It was good news for him, as he could hunt monsters and eliminate targets without worrying about getting caught.
After hearing the announcement, Victor took a deep breath and started walking forward.Just as he stepped ahead, his instincts warned him, and he immediately steeled himself.
Bang.
The place where he had been standing was scarred by a sword slash.
Victor looked at the culprit and saw a large, ugly green creature wielding a massive greatsword.
[Goblin Swordsman] (Level 13)
[Tier: 0]
[HP: 90/90]
[Attack: 130]
[Speed: 30]
[Loots Available: Silver Coin (43%), Monster Core (5%), Danger Sense Skillbook (0.005%), Knight Summoning Certificate (Origin Bloodline Exclusive) (0.0001%)]
"What? A direct certificate, not fragments?" Victor exclaimed in shock.
Victor opened his inventory.
[Inventory: Knight Summoning Certificate (x20), ...]
By killing so many monsters, he had gathered only twenty certificates by collecting fragments, but now...
"I was planning to escape after I got that item, but it looks like my plans need to change..." Victor mumbled. He decided to farm this monster.
The goblin took a step back when it saw the greedy look the human in front of it cast upon it. Before it could react, the human vanished from his spot. It looked down at its chest, and to its horror, there was a hole where its heart had been.
Victor smirked as he crushed the heart in his hand. His stats had risen to an absurd level despite his low level, so he could easily accomplish such a feat.

He ignored everything else and took out the skill book from his inventory. "Sigh, it took me years to get this skill book, killing thousands of monsters. Even then, I failed and had to buy it at an absurd price, and now I got it so easily."
Woosh.
The skill book vanished, and a notification popped up on his retina

As Victor walked further he caught the sound of fighting.
Immediately after the announcement, chaos erupted. Screams. Mana bursts. The smell of blood. Sounds of weapons clashing in all directions.
Victor remained calm.
He closed his eyes and activated his Danger Zone—his Danger Sense already active by default. With them, he scanned a 300-meter radius, clearly seeing the flow of mana through everything—people, objects, even the air. Everything had a pattern.
Suddenly, he picked up a disturbance in the zone behind him. Something was coming fast—launched from a hill nearly 200 meters away.
He tilted his head slightly.
*Whoosh*
An arrow zipped past him and embedded itself in the dirt.
