Chapter 26: Ch-26: Tier Advancement Quest and Killing Territory Lord

Victor had gained a huge haul of experience points from killing so many thousands of monsters that he had more than enough to reach the peak of Tier 0, and he kept pouring them in until he could not raise his level any further, stopping at the peak of Tier 0. Well, it was just the peak of Tier 0 and did not require that many experience points compared to the next tiers.

Hiss.

Victor sucked in a cold breath when he saw his new stats and cried out inwardly, "Damn, these extra stats which the monsters drop are too broken."

"Huh?" Victor’s eyes suddenly widened when he saw a row of text appear.

[Ding Dong]

[You have received your Warlock advancement quest]

[Quest: Tier 1 Advancement Quest]

[Tasks:

Increase your territory size to 200 km²

Kill a named Tier 1 NPC with a Warlock Bloodline

]

[Reward: Advancement to Tier 1]

Victor was not surprised he could not level up any further and had received the quest. In fact, every Warlock, to advance a tier, needed to fulfill the Tier Advancement Quest assigned by the Records; otherwise, they would be stuck at the same tier for a long time. In fact, many Warlocks from noble families had been stuck in a tier as they were unable to complete the Advancement Quest.

Victor’s eyes narrowed as he read the tasks assigned by the Akashic Records, and as he finished reading, he sighed in relief.

"This is not that difficult... well, it’s just Tier 1, so it makes sense, but still, compared to other advancement quests I have heard of, mine is more difficult than usual," Victor thought.

Edward, who was standing near Victor, noticed his rising aura, and his eyes widened in disbelief when he felt the mana radiating from his body and cried out inwardly, "Heavens, how high is his mana level? I have never felt such mana from a Tier 0 being in my life. Why the hell am I, a Tier 2, feeling threatened by him?"

[Ding Dong]

[Territory Lord ’Mutated Buffalo Lord’ has spawned]

The ground trembled as a giant buffalo carrying a large axe in its hands appeared in front of them. The size of the monster was equal to a three-storied building.

"It’s weaker than I expected," Victor thought calmly, without a trace of nervousness on his face.

Edward, on the other hand, had a grim look on his face as he felt more danger from Victor than from the large monster in front of him.

Gulp.

The knights behind swallowed hard upon seeing the giant, and Victor sighed.

"Edward, go back with the troops. I want to try and fight it," Victor said, and Edward looked at him as if he had grown a second head.

"Young Master, please don’t joke. This is a Territory Lord, I will stay with you," Edward refused, but his next words caused him to stiffen.

"Edward, are you disobeying me?" Victor said in a cold voice, and Edward stiffened.

"I dare not, Young Master, but I am just worried about you," Edward said quickly.

"I know, but I still want to face it alone. How about this—if I fail, you can step in," Victor said as his tone softened. Edward bit his lips and reluctantly nodded.

Edward gave a look at the monster with a bit of hesitation, but then again, comparing both the monster and Victor’s aura, the weight on his shoulders lessened a bit.

Whik!

The giant buffalo swung an axe with a handle thicker than Victor’s thighs. Its attacks were fast, but its movements were large and clumsy—a typical attack style that relied solely on brute strength and not finesse. Victor looked calmly at the descending axe and retaliated with a Lightning Claw, and to the monster’s disbelief, it felt itself getting pushed back.

"Heck... the Young Master is stronger than the monster, how is this possible?" Edward swallowed hard while watching from a distance, and he knew that if it were anyone else in Victor’s place, even Tier 0 Warlocks would have to dodge.

Victor turned into lightning and slid to the left, managing to avoid another axe swinging downward. This time, the axe swung from top to bottom. Though it was quite fast, Victor had a high speed stat, which allowed him to react to the monster’s attack.

Suddenly, the monster’s instincts screamed in danger as it saw Victor turn into lightning again. Its eyes widened when it saw Victor reappear above its head.

Mooo!

It gave an angry roar and swung its axe at Victor, but Victor did not even move as the axe passed through his body, and he landed a Black Lightning Claw on its head.

Bang.

Roar!

Half of the monster’s head was destroyed and turned into mangled flesh, and it lost both eyes as it turned blind. It screamed in pain.

The people who were watching the fight were speechless. It was clear to them that Victor was superior in terms of physical abilities, which should have been impossible in their eyes.

"Hoy, hoy... was this the true ability of Lord Victor?"

"As expected of a Warlock."

"Well, I have met a few Warlocks, but I don’t think they could do what Young Lord Victor did."

The knights who had never seen a Warlock fight were left in awe, and those who had met Warlocks before had looks of disbelief on their faces.

Victor’s expression remained unchanged. Aside from a faint smile, it was the same indifferent and serious look

.

Enraged, the Mutated Buffalo Lord unleashed another attack. Victor merely snorted and launched a few more lightning bullets and claw attacks, and within a few more seconds, the Territory Lord ended up dead.

[Ding Dong]

[You have killed the Territory Lord of the Forest of Darkness]

[You have gained the Forest of Darkness as your territory]

«Earth Server Announcement: Congratulations! Player Faceless is the first player to have killed a Territory Lord!»

"What’s going on? What happened? I haven’t even fought the wild boars yet, and someone already killed a Territory Lord!"

"Someone explain what the hell a Territory Lord is!"

"Oh my god, why is there such a huge gap between us?"

"Who’s Faceless? Hasn’t his identity been investigated yet?"

The world announcement stating that Faceless had killed a Territory Lord completely blew up the forum. The ordinary players were both envious and jealous, but most of them were curious about this player called Faceless.

Other than the ordinary players, there were also some professional players in Evolution Online, as well as players from big business corporations.

When the world announcement rang out, these players all frowned. They were the elite players in the gaming world.

Many players gossiped about the new announcement online, some even forming conspiracies that he was hired by the mysterious game developer.

"Young Master, is that a Dungeon Certificate?" Edward asked in a trembling voice as he looked at the piece of paper shining with a golden hue while walking towards Victor.

"Yes," Victor said, and this caused not only Edward but even the soldiers to gasp in surprise.

"Heavens, this is my first time seeing a Dungeon Certificate!"

"Yes, the drop rate is so low that only a few families possess a private dungeon."

"Heavens, what insane luck the Young Master is blessed with," Edward thought, and then saw the dungeon certificate turning into specks of light.
