Evolution begins with an ant colony-Chapter 329: Memories Slowly Surface
A few moments eariler.
As Kaldarix stepped onto the stage, the spotlight illuminated his presence, casting a golden halo around his long, flowing hair and accentuating the glint of his purple eyes. His golden armor shimmered in the light, exuding an air of regality and power.
As Kaldarix stepped onto the stage, whispers spread through the audience like wildfire.
"Is that... real gold armor?"
"I highly doubt it. He’s just an adventurer, right? How could he afford something like that?"
"I don’t know, but it’s certainly impressive."
"If it’s real gold, he must be incredibly wealthy."
"I heard rumors about him having rare treasures, and that’s the major reason he was able to secure his spot. Maybe it’s true."
"Well, whatever it is, he certainly knows how to make an entrance."
Meanwhile, Aric strode confidently onto the stage, his silver and black hair framing his face with an air of determination. His black eyes gleamed with resolve as he donned the special black and white uniform reserved for the top students of the academy. As his gaze briefly flickered towards Akun in the audience, a warm smile graced his lips before refocusing on Kaldarix.
Akun couldn’t help but feel puzzled by Aric’s actions, his brow furrowing in confusion as he muttered aloud, "What’s up with him?" His eyes followed Aric’s gaze back to Kaldarix, wondering about the connection between the two competitors.
Tatilia, seated beside Akun, noticed his peculiar expression and arched an eyebrow. "Something on your mind?" she inquired, her voice soft with concern.

Akun shook his head slightly, offering her a reassuring smile. "No, it’s nothing," he replied, though his eyes betrayed a hint of uncertainty.
Meanwhile, the commentator’s voice boomed through the arena, signaling the imminent start of the battle.
Now.
Kaldarix drew his gleaming golden sword, its blade shimmering under the arena’s lights. With a confidetnt grin, he spoke to his opponent. "Come at me with everything you’ve got, young one," he challenged Aric, his voice echoing across the arena. "Let’s make this battle entertaining. I’m eager to finish you off and face someone truly remarkable."
Aric’s smile took on a hint of cunning as he looked Kaldarix with a steeled gaze. "I’m sorry to disappoint you, Dragon Lord," he replied, his tone dripping with seriousness. "But I can’t allow you to defeat me in this match. My mentor is watching, and I refuse to let him down. He’s the one who taught me everything I know."
As Kaldarix thought about Aric’s words, confusion flickered across his face. "Dragon Lord?" he began, his voice trailing off as a flood of memories surged through his mind. The weight of his past deeds and the title bestowed upon him in the past washed over him in a dizzying wave.
Caught off guard by the sudden wave of memories, Kaldarix’s battle stance faltered for a fleeting moment. In that split second, Aric seized the opportunity, launching himself into action with lightning speed. With a swift and fluid motion, he closed the distance between himself and Kaldarix, closing in with blinding speed.
Before Kaldarix could fully grasp what was happening, Aric’s sword sliced through the air, delivering a powerful horizontal slash aimed directly at him.
As Kaldarix regained his composure, a surge of seriousness replaced his momentary lapse. With a mighty effort, he countered Aric’s attack, pushing him back with sheer strength. The clash of their blades echoed through the arena, a proof of their sheer strength.
Despite his focus on the battle, Kaldarix couldn’t shake the nagging questions that gnawed at his mind. "Who are you, really?" he demanded, his voice edged with urgency. "And what do you want?"
Aric’s smile remained unfaltering, masking any hint of fear. "I’m just another student from the Royal Castle Academy," he replied casually, though there was a glint of something deeper in his eyes. His words triggered another wave of memories within Kaldarix’s mind, stirring up images of a figure resembling Aric but with blurred eyes and longer hair.
Clutching his forehead, Kaldarix grappled with the flood of fragmented memories. Could this boy hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of his past?
Kaldarix pushed aside the unsettling memories, choosing instead to immerse himself fully in the intensity of the battle before him. "It doesn’t matter who you are or what you want," he said, his voice ringing out with conviction. "Right now, all that matters is the thrill of this fight."
As he spoke, golden magic circles materialized behind him, radiating a golden glow. From within them emerged shimmering golden swords, each gleaming with golden mana. With a confident smirk, Kaldarix extended his hand towards Aric, his eyes sparking with anticipation.
"I’ll put in some effort since I can clearly tell you aren’t wrak, so I hope you’re ready to keep up," Kaldarix taunted, his tone laced with playful challenge. "After all, I wouldn’t want you to miss out on all the fun."
Mages from the Mage Tower sat in the VIP section of the arena, watching Kaldarix cast his spell with fascination. They were amazed by how complex his magic was and whispered in awe as they saw golden swords emerge from magic circles.
"It’s incredible," remarked Professor Eldrin, a tall, elderly mage with a beard flowing down to his waist, clearly impressed. "The detail in his spells is unmatched."
Beside him, Apprentice Lila, a young mage with vibrant blue robes and a curious expression, nodded in agreement. "It seems like he’s casting multiple spells at once, each with its own purpose."

They exchanged intrigued looks. "Where do you think he learned such advanced magic?" wondered Apprentice Lila aloud. "And why didn’t he become a full-fledged mage with skills like this?"
"I’m not sure," Professor Eldrin replied, stroking his long beard thoughtfully. Then, he pointed to some symbols on Kaldarix’s magic circle. "But look at these runes. They bear a striking resemblance to the ones I’ve been studying in my study. The art of rune craft is something I’ve been researching for years, but I’ve yet to make a breakthrough."
Apprentice Lila’s eyes widened with interest as she examined the symbols. "You’re right, Professor. They do look similar."
The professor nodded. "Whoever this man is, I’d like to have a talk with him after his match."
..
With his swords glowing behind him, Kaldarix flicked his wrist, sending the swords flying at Aric.
Aric stood his ground, focusing on the incoming attack. He shifted his weight, preparing to block. With a quick movement, he intercepted the first sword with his own.
The clash echoed in the arena as Aric swiftly deflected the next sword with his left hand. Sparks flew with each impact, lighting up the arena.
The speed of Kaldarix’s attacks began to increase to a point Aric’s counters as he moved his body bagen to blur, Aric’s movements were fluid and coordinated as he countered Kaldarix’s onslaught. He remained calm and composed, despite the intense exchange.
The audience watched in amazement as Aric skillfully neutralized the barrage of swords. With each deflection, the swords fell to the ground, their glow fading.
As the last sword dropped, Aric stood confidently, ready for whatever came next.
