Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 35: If You’re Not Proactive About Eating, There’s a Problem With Your Brain
"What you said is wrong, and you’re saying it to the wrong person."
Yang Chan glanced at Shu Yu and said flatly.
Compared to others, he wasn’t particularly desperate to get into the Pharmacist training program, but now that it had happened, he certainly wasn’t going to give it up.
It was a reward for his hard work, a benefit he deserved. Why should he discard it?
’What’s mine should be mine.’
"Oh? And what’s wrong with it?"
A confused look appeared on Shu Yu’s face. She thought back on what she said and couldn’t see any problem.
After her friends found out she had secured a spot in the Pharmacist training, their constant compliments gave her the feeling that she was no longer on the same Level as Yang Chan and the others. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be acting this way.
It was as if she had consumed too much toxic "self-help" advice, which subtly altered her thinking and even made her arrogant.
"I won’t have time to help Pharmacist Xu for a while either. So, you should be saying that to the others. You’ve picked the wrong audience."
Yang Chan said nonchalantly.
"Huh? You don’t want to be Pharmacist Xu’s assistant anymore?"
Shu Yu looked astonished. She hadn’t expected Yang Chan to think that way.
In her eyes, Yang Chan must have been dissatisfied with Pharmacist Xu’s announcement and wanted to become an assistant to another Pharmacist.
"As it happens, I also received a training spot. I need to attend the Pharmacist training."
Yang Chan found it strange that Shu Yu would even think that, so he just stated the fact.
’Some people really aren’t worth talking to. It’s such a waste of time.’
After saying his piece, Yang Chan walked straight into the Pharmacist training area.
The guards at the side of the training area saw Yang Chan enter but didn’t stop him.
The guards naturally knew in advance who was supposed to participate in the Pharmacist training.
’Strange, how did he get that spot?’
Seeing this, Shu Yu’s face filled with confusion. She knew everyone who had gotten a spot in the Pharmacist training, and she hadn’t heard of anyone dropping out.
The fact that the guards didn’t stop him meant Yang Chan was qualified to participate, which Shu Yu found very odd.
’Could it be that Yang Chan has some kind of backing?’
The thought popped into her head. Being able to join the Pharmacist training at this stage was exactly what someone who got in through connections would do.
Someone with a powerful background could certainly get a lot of conveniences. Even if the spots for the Pharmacist training were already decided, they could still squeeze someone else out.
Full of doubt, Shu Yu walked into the training area. She saw the people who had come in—all the previously confirmed participants were there. No one had been pushed out. Instead, there was just one extra person: Yang Chan. This left her puzzled.
"Why are there twenty-one of us?"
Shu Yu muttered to herself.
"You don’t know? The extra person got it as a Sect reward. Hall Master Gu had Steward Sikong add another spot."
"I just heard about it from Pharmacist Zhao myself."
Le Yuqin, who was standing nearby and was acquainted with Shu Yu, heard her muttering and explained.
"So that’s how it is. I didn’t think that was possible."
Shu Yu understood instantly.
Yang Chan had performed a great service in the matter of Zhao Ziqing. It seemed the Sect’s reward was this spot in the Pharmacist training.
To think she had to work so hard for her spot, while Yang Chan got his so easily.
No wonder he had completely ignored her attempt to be friendly the other day. It turned out he already knew he had a spot in the training, so he couldn’t have cared less.
That was the source of his confidence, his assurance.
’He won’t become a Pharmacist before I do, will he?’
Shu Yu murmured to herself.
She had witnessed Yang Chan’s mastery of the *Medicine Scripture*. Every time Xu Gaocen lectured on Medicinal Properties, principles, and effects, and then asked questions, Yang Chan’s answers were always the most outstanding.
Naturally, she subconsciously compared herself to him. She had originally thought the Pharmacist training would allow her to pull ahead, but now, the gap might actually widen in his favor.
Yang Chan found an empty seat. When he saw Xu Gaocen walk in to begin the lecture on medicinal principles, his expression remained unchanged.
For this Pharmacist training, the Medicine Hall had selected eight instructors: three Intermediate Pharmacists and five Basic Level Pharmacists. Xu Gaocen was one of them.
"Today I will cover various topics, including judging the efficacy of medicinal ingredients, principles of combination, and analysis of Medicinal Properties. I will be covering a lot of ground, so don’t get distracted."
"Peony root, Coptis chinensis, Isatis root, Dictamnus root bark..."
Once Xu Gaocen started speaking, he lectured continuously for two hours without so much as a single pause for a sip of water. When he finally stopped, he seemed completely unaffected, aside from his Spirit being slightly diminished.
Many people would envy such a lecturing ability, especially lecturers, teachers, and salespeople. With that kind of skill, they could use their eloquence to talk a dead man back to life.
After finishing, Xu Gaocen announced that the lecture would continue in the afternoon and then left.
In Martial Arts Cultivation, once one begins to nurture Power, the body is continuously strengthened in every aspect. Yang Chan had experienced this firsthand. This was especially true for him, as he also practiced the Health Cultivation Skill, which brought immense improvements to his internal body.
The most obvious improvement was his recovery ability, which far surpassed that of an ordinary person.
After cultivating the Ox Demon’s Mighty Fist, the External Refining of Flesh and Skin began Tempering his flesh, which included his mouth and tongue. Naturally, this made them far superior to an ordinary person’s.
An ordinary person would find it difficult to continue after speaking for more than thirty minutes straight. Their throat would start to feel uncomfortable, forcing them to stop, catch their breath, and drink some water to rest all the active parts of their mouth and let them slowly recover.
But after the External Refining of Flesh and Skin, it wasn’t just the skin on the outside of the body that was tempered, but also the flesh on the face and inside the mouth. It all became incredibly resilient, and his recovery abilities were greatly enhanced.
If Yang Chan were to lecture for two straight hours, he would likely be in even better shape than Xu Gaocen. The Health Cultivation Skill he practiced was more beneficial for his body’s recovery. A mere two hours of non-stop talking was a piece of cake.
Xu Gaocen was truly worthy of being an Intermediate Pharmacist. His lecture was packed with substance, and even Yang Chan learned a great deal.
This also meant that even a Basic Level Pharmacist could improve by listening to Xu Gaocen’s lecture.
Of course, most of the content was geared toward the key points one needed to know to become a Pharmacist. After Xu Gaocen left, many of the Pharmacist’s Assistants looked utterly miserable. The sheer volume of information was overwhelming, and for them, memorizing and fully digesting it all was an incredibly difficult task.
This was why participants for the Pharmacist training had to be carefully selected. If one’s ability was insufficient, they wouldn’t gain much from the lectures. The difficulty might even shatter their confidence, causing them to give up on becoming a Pharmacist altogether.
Furthermore, there was a threshold just to understand the material. Without enough foundational ability, they simply couldn’t comprehend what he was talking about.
Unlike those with miserable expressions, Yang Chan had gained a lot from the lecture and had already digested it all, so he naturally looked relaxed.
He walked straight out of the training area and headed to the Medicine Hall’s public kitchen to eat. ’If you’re not eager to eat, you’ve got a problem with your brain.’
