Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 101: Tan Yun Mansion
Tan City was a minor city in Qing State, even smaller than Taiyu City. The terrain was simple, and although it bordered Yu State, it wasn’t prosperous, as no trade routes passed through it.
Under normal circumstances, Tan City was an unremarkable part of Qing State. Few people paid it any mind, as it held little value.
However, after the No-Life Evil Cult appeared in Tan City and the Government Office reported the news to the Cyan Yuan Sect, the city suddenly became the center of attention.
This wasn’t just happening in Tan City within Qing State; the same was true for areas in Chi State and Jin State.
The danger posed by the No-Life Evil Cult had already been demonstrated in Yu State, naturally leading the powers in every state to keep a close watch on them. Upon detecting any of the Evil Cult’s activities, they would dispatch forces for their annihilation.
This was partly because the No-Life Evil Cult was overstepping its bounds and partly because they were simply too dangerous. No one wanted to let such a major threat linger.
Yang Chan and his group rode hard, taking four days to reach Tan City. The situation within the city was very strange.
A line ran through the middle of Tan City, and the Cyan Yuan Sect was positioned on one side of it.
According to the locals, this was the dividing line between the No-Life Evil Cult and the Cyan Yuan Sect. Crossing it would trigger a confrontation.
This was a direct confrontation within the city. It made Yang Chan understand why so many Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples had been sent back up the mountain. Casualties were clearly heavy. Moreover, Tan City was not a suitable place to treat the severely wounded—it might even be dangerous. It was far better to send them back to the Cyan Yuan Sect, where they would at least have a chance of survival.
Yang Chan’s group entered Tan City from the direction of Qing State. The side of the city closer to Yu State was occupied by the No-Life Evil Cult.
Eventually, Yang Chan’s group entered Tan Yun Mansion, one of the Cyan Yuan Sect’s bases in Tan City. All the wounded disciples were being treated here.
Upon the arrival of Yang Chan and his group, several more Pharmacies were opened to treat the wounded Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples, also relieving some pressure on the Pharmacists in the existing Pharmacies.
After all, there were far too many wounded disciples; the Pharmacists already in Tan City couldn’t possibly treat them all. With Yang Chan and three other Pharmacists now present, they could treat a great many more, allowing some of the wounded to stay in Tan Yun Mansion for their recovery.
Yang Chan was assigned to Room Geng. His Pharmacist’s Assistants, aside from Han Bingyu, included three others brought from the Sect, making a total of four.
He had gotten to know the other three on the journey, and their attitudes became remarkably positive, especially after seeing Han Bingyu. This made Yang Chan see another of her uses—she was a very effective tool.
Not long after Yang Chan and his team entered Room Geng in Tan Yun Mansion, a stream of wounded disciples was brought in. The situation was even more severe than what Yang Chan had experienced last time in Taiyu City, and they immediately became busy.
He learned what had happened from the wounded disciples. The common people of Tan City had used Hidden Weapons to launch sneak attacks on the Official Disciples, injuring many. Fortunately, the weapons weren’t poisoned; otherwise, the situation would have been far more severe.
This reminded Yang Chan of a term: "human bomb." These commoners carrying out the assassinations were ordinary people who basically died right after using their Hidden Weapons. It was clear just how depraved the No-Life Evil Cult’s methods were.
As a result, the Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples now made sure to keep all commoners at a distance, allowing none of them to get near.
This tactic wasn’t very effective against Elite Disciples who practiced External Refining Copper Skin, but it was still very dangerous for Official Disciples who were cultivating the Wild Ox Force.
If Poison had been involved, the consequences would have been even more severe.
After treating these wounded disciples, Yang Chan went to the Pharmacy to retrieve herbs related to Antidotes and Healing Medicine, intending to do some Refining and be prepared.
He had noticed while treating them that there weren’t many pre-formulated medicines available; more needed to be prepared from scratch.
Fortunately, since he had left the mountain, the withdrawal limits for various medicines were much higher. Restrictions on items like Antidotes and Healing Medicine were rare, and the various herbs were also replenished quickly.
When Yang Chan returned from the Pharmacy, Servant Disciples helped carry everything back to Room Geng. Most of these Servant Disciples had been recruited from neighboring cities.
The previous batch of Servant Disciples recruited in Tan City had largely been problematic and were thus all dismissed. New Servant Disciples were transferred in from neighboring cities to prevent them from being influenced by the No-Life Evil Cult.
These people rarely left Tan Yun Mansion, which helped to minimize potential risks.
Even so, after the Servant Disciples delivered the herbs to Room Geng, Yang Chan had Han Bingyu and the others inspect them with him to make sure there were no problems with the ingredients.
After all, these herbs were meant to save lives. If there was a problem with them, they wouldn’t be saving people, but killing them.
Yang Chan took such matters very seriously.
He had retrieved a large quantity of medicinal herbs, but his inspection was very fast. He was basically just checking if there were any problems with the herbs or if any had been replaced with others.
It took a little over an hour to check everything once.
Once the inspection was complete, Yang Chan began to prepare the medicine packets.
Han Bingyu had never been involved in compounding medicine before, so she wasn’t very fast. The other three Pharmacist’s Assistants had never collaborated before, so their efficiency was naturally low. This was why many Pharmacists brought their personally selected Pharmacist’s Assistants with them—the difference in work efficiency was stark.
On Yang Chan’s end, although their initial progress was slow, everyone was very diligent and made no mistakes, which Yang Chan found acceptable.
Efficiency was something that could be improved with familiarity. Attitude, however, was a personal matter.
Yang Chan didn’t feel he was the reason for their diligence. Their enthusiasm was more about showing off for Han Bingyu. Although this was a slight departure from his original intention, the outcome was still good.
Back in Taiyu City, when he had just become a Pharmacist, his efficiency had been much lower than this, but it had gradually improved.
Things starting off well this time was a very good sign.
Yang Chan’s group had only just arrived at Tan Yun Mansion in Tan City, and they were already busy, working straight through until nightfall. This assignment was much more demanding than his duties within the Cyan Yuan Sect.
Thanks to his experience in Taiyu City, he adapted quickly. Han Bingyu and the other Pharmacist’s Assistants, on the other hand, were having some trouble adjusting.
Yang Chan understood their situation. After all, he had also been unaccustomed to it at first back in Taiyu City, only slowly growing used to it later.
Although Han Bingyu and the others showed signs of fatigue, their attitudes remained good. As long as they could get used to the pace, they would surely become excellent Pharmacist’s Assistants in the future.
After arranging for a night watch to monitor the condition of the wounded disciples, Yang Chan decided to stay in Room Geng himself. This was to ensure that if any of the disciples’ conditions worsened, he could provide treatment as quickly as possible.
