Eternal Life: I Rely on Fortune Points for Improvement-Chapter 106: Guilt
Jiang Feng thought he was seeing things.
Wasn’t Blood Skull escorted to the Dali Temple?
How did he end up out here?
And right in Willow Alley.
Blocking his way.
Obviously, this guy was coming straight for him.
In that instant, Jiang Feng’s mind raced with thoughts.
Then he realized his brain just wasn’t enough; he couldn’t make heads or tails of it.
He instinctively backed up.
You had to know, Blood Skull wiped out Han Dong’s sect and was one of the Red Lotus Sect squad leaders. His strength was the real deal—a First-Grade Martial Artist.
Jiang Feng didn’t know a lot about him.
But not too little, either.
Like status and cultivation and such.
Jiang Feng figured he didn’t stand a sure chance in a fight. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
But thanks to his Monkey Escape Technique cultivated to Great Perfection, his Tai Chi Longevity Skill, and his Primordial Power several times higher than his peers, Jiang Feng figured he could at least put up a fight against Blood Skull.
And just then.
Blood Skull strode rapidly toward Jiang Feng.
The guy was huge.
Walking through the dim alley, his shadow stretched long, looking like some kind of demon god.
Jiang Feng tensed up all over.
Ready to go.
"How did Han Dong end up treating a Little Prison Chief like you as her brother? Hope you can lure Han Dong out."
Blood Skull said as he walked closer.
As he spoke,
he sped up.
Raised his hand.
Chopped at Jiang Feng with a knife-hand strike.
Jiang Feng sensed something off.
This guy wasn’t going all out.
He didn’t mean to kill him.
If Jiang Feng seized this chance,
took him by surprise,
maybe he could deal him serious damage.
Only problem—his real strength would be fully exposed.
What’s more, this guy had clearly been hauled off by the Dali Temple.
Without help, how could he have gotten out?
And then just happened to be waiting in Willow Alley for him.
Jiang Feng felt like, somewhere in the dark, an unseen pair of eyes was watching everything unfold.
If he played his trump card now, the consequences would be disastrous.
In the end,
Jiang Feng raised his hands to block.
"Bang!"
Blood Skull’s knife-hand easily broke through Jiang Feng’s defense and chopped onto his neck.
Jiang Feng toppled straight to the ground.
Blood Skull grabbed Jiang Feng by the collar.
Then vanished into Willow Alley with Jiang Feng in tow.
Dangling from Blood Skull’s grip, Jiang Feng blinked his eyes open and saw Blood Skull carrying him, bounding across rooftops. In just a few breaths, they’d already left Chaoyang Lane behind.
This body technique was fast—no slower than his own.
Trying to outmaneuver him wasn’t going to work.
Two or three quarter-hours later,
Jiang Feng was acquainted with the ground again.
Blood Skull tossed him to the floor.
"Take him to Zhenbei Prison. Hand him over to Han Dong, and tell her: Her little brother’s in my hands. If she doesn’t want him dead, she’d better come alone."
Jiang Feng felt Blood Skull unclip the identity token from his waist and throw it to a figure in the courtyard.
"Yes!"
The person caught it.
And quickly vanished from Jiang Feng’s senses.
"So he really is using me to draw out Sister Dong."
"But if Sister Dong actually shows up, then what?"
Jiang Feng mused to himself.
He wasn’t really unconscious.
With his Tai Chi Longevity Skill, his breathing was faint, as if he really had passed out. Even if Blood Skull was far stronger, without checking closely, he wouldn’t notice.
"It’s their grudge, not mine. If Sister Dong actually comes, with her brains, she’ll have some plan for sure. Once chaos breaks out, I just need to slip away and I won’t get dragged into any mess."
Jiang Feng quietly made up his mind.
He’d already repaid his debts to Han Dong.
Now, whether it was the Second Prince or Seventh Prince, or the Red Lotus rebel faction targeting Han Dong—those were all her problems, not his. Jiang Feng wanted no part of it.
He just wanted to survive.
Lie low and rack up Fortune Points.
Wait till he’s actually strong, then think about it.
"Squad Leader, what if Han Dong doesn’t come?"
In the courtyard, besides Blood Skull, there were three Martial Artists.
Two Middle Third Grades, and one Upper Third Grade.
That Upper Third-Grade Martial Artist, with Third Grade Realm cultivation, asked.
"She let this Little Prison Chief use her token just to read at the academy. Shows their relationship is pretty close. So Han Dong will definitely come."
Blood Skull said.
"But... what if she doesn’t?"
The Upper Third-Grade Martial Artist looked terrified that Han Dong might not show.
Blood Skull’s face darkened and said, "If she doesn’t, I’ll force her to. Worst case, I’ll storm Zhenbei Prison."
His subordinates went cold with fear.
No one knew what to say for a moment.
Jiang Feng could hardly believe it.
Just what kind of deep grudge did Blood Skull have against Han Dong?
First, he stirred things up at Zhenbei Prison pushing Han Dong, hoping she’d kill him. Now, after finally escaping the Dali Temple, he’s hell-bent on taking Han Dong down however he can.
There’s something fishy here, for sure.
Jiang Feng thought it was way more complicated.
Maybe things weren’t as simple as he thought from the start.
Zhenbei Prison.
Mao Daming took Jiang Feng’s identity token and knocked on Han Dong’s courtyard door.
"Grand Commander Han, someone outside the prison has Jiang Feng’s identity token and says they’ve got urgent business with you."
Mao Daming shouted.
"Whose identity token did you say?"
Han Dong appeared instantly in the courtyard.
"Jiang Feng."
Mao Daming replied.
"Whoosh!"
Han Dong went back in for her weapons and shot out like a shadow.
She raced out of Zhenbei Prison.
Arrived outside the prison.
Came face to face with Blood Skull’s agent.
The guy was only a Fifth Grade Realm cultivator, but facing Han Dong, he acted all smug, didn’t flinch one bit, and said, "If you don’t want your brother to get hurt, come with me alone."
"If any of you dare lay a finger on him, I guarantee none of you will ever leave Dragon Capital alive."
Han Dong seemed to see through the man’s identity, warning him.
"Then just come with me!"
The man smiled lightly, used his body technique, and vanished outside Zhenbei Prison.
Han Dong hurried after.
Before she left,
she glanced at Mao Daming, signaling with her eyes toward the Prison Army.
Mao Daming caught her meaning—once Han Dong and the man were gone, he darted off to find Chu Tianhe.
The man was only Fifth Grade Realm,
but his body technique wasn’t bad.
He led Han Dong leaping over rooftops.
Soon enough,
they reached the courtyard where Blood Skull and the others waited.
"Squad Leader, Han Dong’s here!"
The Fifth Grade expert shouted excitedly.
Blood Skull looked toward a rooftop outside the courtyard.
A lone figure stood there.
It was Han Dong.
The Third-Grade Martial Artist in the courtyard quickly took up position to Han Dong’s left, the other two Middle Third Grades flanked with the Fifth Grade, guarding Han Dong’s right side.
Along with Blood Skull, they formed a three-way siege.
To stop Han Dong from escaping.
"Grand Commander Han, we meet again."
Blood Skull grinned.
"Jiang Feng!"
Han Dong called out.
All she saw was a body lying in the courtyard; the build and clothes matched Jiang Feng, but she couldn’t see his face.
"Smash!"
Blood Skull threw a wine jug to the ground by Jiang Feng’s face, splashing his face with liquor and shards of broken pottery.
"Urgh, mmph mmph."
Jiang Feng’s body struggled a bit, then he groggily woke up, sat up from the ground, and shook his head to clear it.
"Jiang Feng, are you alright?"
Han Dong finally got a good look—it was definitely Jiang Feng.
"Sister Dong... this... I..."
Jiang Feng’s feelings were complicated.
Han Dong really risked herself to come for him. He’d planned to slip away and mind his own business, but now seeing Han Dong’s anxious face, risking herself to save him, Jiang Feng was filled with guilt.
