Chapter 3477: Jade Fang

The woman on the stage waited for a moment to let the weight of her words settle into the hearts of everyone who was there.

"The Artifact God?"

"She said the first one. I don’t know who that was."

"Wasn’t that the person from the Three Jewel World? The owner of the big artifact workshop there."

"No, he’s from the Golden Dao realm, I think."

The first Artifact God, Steelmind, had lived such a long time ago that no one below the Divine realm even knew of his name at all.

"The first Artifact God should be the master of the current Artifact God," Wineshard said before turning toward Alex. "I’ve heard whispers of what could be the truth from the dealings that happened nearly 2 millennia ago in the Medicine realm. Could you help me verify it?"

Alex turned toward the prince. "If you’re asking whether the Artifact God is Godslayer or not, then yes. You are correct."

The two Divinities behind him let out soft gasps.

The prince rested his chin on his arm, falling into thought. "So it was true, huh? The Godslayer was none other than the Artifact God himself. What could have happened to make him change that much?"

Alex remained silent.

The woman below started an explanation for the rest.

"The first Artifact God lived well over 200 thousand years ago, and had become a god long before that. While he is mistaken for the Sage of Ten Thousand Treasures a lot, it is important to note that they are not the same person."

"In the case of the Sage of Ten Thousand Treasures, the items sold through his workshop come with a hexagonal marking upon them, which this sword lacks. So it can only belong to the Artifact God."

"We have done some research and learned that this sword was first created for the prime disciple of the Grand Truth sect of the Formation Monarch’s realm. It is made of an alloy formed through Viridian Steel and Blackthorn Iron."

"Even without the Artifact God’s name attached to it, it is a great artifact in its own right, just on the verge of becoming a Divine grade artifact."

"Through this artifact, one is capable of channeling their Qi into their attacks that, when it comes into contact with their opponent’s Qi, creates vines that can constrict them. To anyone who may be unaware of the sword’s ability, it would certainly come as a surprise."

"For this auction, Jade Fang will begin at 500 thousand Immortal spirit stones, and each bid cannot be less than 10 thousand spirit stones increment. Please begin."

The moment the woman was done talking, the bidding war began.

"510 thousand spirit stones."

"520 thousand..."

"530..."

Alex watched the bidding continue with a strange look in his eyes. He watched the sword, trying to remember whether Godslayer had made it in the past or not.

These people had certainly done their research, so he likely had made it. His memories didn’t include everything, so there was no chance for him to remember it all.

"This should be one of the final ones," the prince said.

"Final?" Alex asked as he turned toward the prince.

"Ah, I meant for Immortal grade items. There might be a few more, but we should be moving to Divine grade after this," he explained. "Even an Immortal grade sword is already starting at 50 Divine spirit stones, so one can only be ready to bleed through their pockets for what comes next."

Alex nodded slowly. It had started at 50 Divine spirit stones and had already moved past 60 in the blink of an eye.

"650 thousand."

"670 thousand."

"700..."

Alex waited as the bids progressed, and slowly the craze simmered down as only half a dozen people were left bidding. The higher the bid went, the more they were incentivized to stop.

As the bid reached 920 thousand, Alex reached for the small glowing section on the table next to him, pressed it, and spoke up.

"930 thousand."

His voice came from outside of the room, distorted and with no noticeable feature to tell who exactly it was that was speaking.

The prince turned his head around in a snap, a look of pure bewilderment on his face. "Young brother, are you bidding for that sword?"

"I have now," Alex answered.

"But... why?" the prince asked. "If you want a sword, I suggest you wait for the next few ones. They will be much better."

Two more people bid outside, pushing the current bid to over 960 thousand.

Alex pressed on the bench again and placed his next bid.

"1 million."

The prince didn’t know what to say. "You really want that sword, don’t you?" he asked. "I really hope you do not intend to use that sword. While it may be special, there will be better swords out there despite being simple."

"Thank you for your consideration, senior, but you can rest assured knowing that I do not intend to use this sword in any way you might be thinking. I just want the sword for some other purposes," Alex answered.

The prince thought for a moment before his eyes widened slightly. "Ah, because of Godslayer. The Artifact God. You wish to buy this sword because it belongs to him, huh?"

Alex smiled, saying nothing.

"I understand," the prince said. "I too would do the same in your scenario."

Alex pressed the glowing light and increased his bid. It now reached 1.04 million, with 2 others that kept fighting him for it.

One of the people dropped off, while the other one increased the bid. It was a person in another VIP room, so they likely had a lot of money to throw around.

But even they couldn’t possibly throw around as much as Alex, who had no intention of buying anything else.

"1.1 million," Alex said, increasing the bid once more.

And when the VIP increased it to 1.11 million, he increased it directly to 1.5 million.

A 400 thousand spirit stones increase was seemingly far too much for the other person to justify, so they backed off.

"1.5 million," the auctioneer said as she hit the gavel. "Sold."
