Era of the transmigrating earth-Chapter 2057: As Expected, Others Are Wary of Me
Through various means, Du You finally got himself out of sight from everyone, along with Xiaobai, allowing the two to enjoy some quiet days. Of course, Xiaobai was cultivating while Du You seemed quite idle.
However, Xiaobai knew that Du You had his own method of cultivation, not needing to continually train like himself.
After all, as a mage, close combat skills weren’t of much use to him. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Meanwhile, while Du You appeared to be lazing around, things elsewhere weren’t quite so tranquil. As the Shadow Guild continued to grow and strengthen, other major guilds gradually took notice of this emerging formidable force.
"So, did we uncover anything?" In one guild, a group of people gathered together.
"Hmm, according to my intelligence network, we finally found out what happened that day. Two guilds clashed, and Hu Lie was wiped out in a one-on-one fight. As for the others, they were besieged. The Shadow Guild fielded fifteen tier-eight powerhouses that day, and we don’t know if they have more hidden."
"Fifteen, how can there be so many? Is this really a new guild? Who can hide so many experts without us knowing?"
"It is new. You can directly purchase their surface information, and they haven’t been established long. Perhaps something powerful is working behind the scenes silently. But hiding for so long is really impressive."
"Indeed, we still don’t know who these people are; we never noticed them before. Some of their surface identities are even quite ordinary, really makes you wonder what they’re thinking."
Gathering intelligence is no simple task, and being able to uncover the past lives of these powerhouses is an ability they possess. However, it’s very strange that many of these powerhouses previously seemed unremarkable, like ordinary people.
Moreover, these individuals were spread across different guilds; it can’t be that everyone is hiding like this.
So, either the opponent has a way to significantly boost these people in a short time, or all these people belong to one organization, or even one person. They usually hide on purpose, only to burst out with such a powerful force when needed, shocking the world.
"Perhaps there are some things we haven’t fully investigated, but it can’t be denied that the Shadow Guild in the past must have been this kind of force hidden in the dark. Although these forces are rare, they’re not non-existent."
"But their power is too strong; are such elite warriors truly controllable? I tend more towards thinking they have some rapid enhancement method." As he spoke, a hint of greed flashed in his eyes.
If such a method truly exists, obtaining it would ensure he could soar to great heights.
"Stop thinking about that. We all know Hu Lie’s strength: to defeat him head-on or even kill him, not even giving him a chance to escape, and in a one-on-one situation. His opponent must be a peak tier-eight."
At this, everyone was speechless; their guild had no tier-nine members. Moreover, tier-nine individuals hardly ever act, as if there’s some unwritten agreement.
Unless their guild is on the brink of destruction, they don’t emerge.
And these people usually operate in the Otherworld, elusive and rarely seen.
The apex of tier-eight is typically the most powerful combat force. The Shadow Guild has such powerhouses, and they’re simply no match.
"What should we do? Judging by their actions, it seems they’re not too far away. If they attack us one day, are we supposed to just surrender?" a hot-tempered middle-aged man said loudly.
The one who had been investigating answered, "No, we’re in danger, and other forces face threats too. All we need to do is distribute the Shadow Guild’s information. Once everyone is aware, they’ll naturally revert to being cautious."
"Pitting tiger against wolf, it’s a devious but effective plan. Let’s do it; we can’t let the Shadow Guild expand endlessly. But we also can’t just let them do whatever they want."
The leader spoke up, "I think it’s time to deploy our special team."
A change came over many faces at the mention of the special team. This special team was assembled at the guild’s inception, yet many were unaware because it had seldom been used.
This special team isn’t renowned for sheer combat prowess, but rather for their outstanding abilities.
The infiltration skills of these people are formidable. In past missions, they’d effortlessly penetrate enemy lines and then decompose from the top down, causing complete enemy collapse.
After that, they could finish off enemies one by one. But cultivating these people is immensely challenging, and each mission incurs heavy losses, so they’re seldom deployed.
The guild maintains a special control method to ensure these people’s loyalty.
"But we can’t use them immediately. It’s not just up to us to contribute; we need to negotiate compensation with surrounding guilds." The leader continued.
"Compensation? But won’t that expose our secret team?"
"You don’t understand, so you’re not aware. Rest assured, not even we know exactly who makes up the secret team. They only act on the leader’s orders, to prevent exposure. Not even the leader knows who’s inside."
The person in charge of the secret team only communicates with the leader. These people don’t officially join the guild but remain scattered around. This is akin to training a covert team outside the guild’s main operations.
If not for their lack of strength, this setup is almost identical to what they guessed about the origins of the Shadow Guild.
What they don’t know is that among those attending the meeting, there is someone sitting in the corner with a flickering gaze. Yes, this person is a doppelganger, secretly controlled by Du You, hidden within other guilds.
At this moment, Du You is watching everything unfold through the eyes of this doppelganger.
"Fragmentation, huh, that’s a good plan. The Shadow Guild is too strong. If it splits into several different guilds, the threat would be much smaller." Du You’s eyes lit up.
He plans to turn the tables and simply break his own guild apart; after all, it wouldn’t make much difference to him.
