Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 91: Sure Enough, Thieves Always Have a Guilty Conscience
As soon as she walked into the room, Julian rushed toward her.
Tears still streaked his cheeks as he looked at Chloe Nash with pitiful eyes: "Mom, don’t leave Julian behind."
Chloe immediately squatted down and hugged him to comfort him.
"I’m sorry, baby. Mom didn’t want to leave you. I was taken and locked up by bad people, and I made you worry. I’m really sorry."
Julian had autism; his greatest fear was being abandoned.
Chloe had to explain it to him clearly.
Upon hearing this, Julian immediately took out a smart watch from his little backpack.
It matched his own; they were a parent-child pair.
He put the watch on Chloe’s wrist with great seriousness. "It has GPS. If I lose Mom, Julian can find you."
He even demonstrated how to use it for Chloe.
The two watches could locate each other and send voice messages; if one was in danger, they could alert the other with one button.
Chloe was very curious and pressed the SOS button.
Julian’s watch instantly flashed a red alert, displaying the precise location.
Chloe looked at Julian excitedly: "From now on, Julian’s Mom’s emergency contact."
Julian nodded proudly: "Mm-hmm. Julian protects Mom."
The two hugged each other affectionately.
What they didn’t know was that a red light was also flashing in Silas Prescott’s pocket at that moment.
Just then, Henry Prescott’s cold, harsh voice came from the doorway: "Silas, where did you hide Mrs. Sterling? For this woman—are you trying to destroy the Prescott Family?"
Henry Prescott barged into the hospital room with Stella Sterling, full of fury.
Julian immediately used his small, thin body to stand in front of Chloe Nash.
He glared at them with childish defiance: "Don’t you dare hurt my mom."
Stella Sterling, fuming, came over, grabbed Julian’s arm, and said, "Julian, move aside."
Julian’s little face turned cold: "No. I have to protect Mom."
Hearing this, Stella Sterling grew even angrier.
Why was everyone desperate to protect Chloe? Her brother was, Silas was—even little Julian, barely grown, was like this.
What kind of witchcraft did Chloe Nash possess that made these people obsessed with her?
She shoved Julian hard to the ground, then rushed to Chloe Nash and grabbed her by the collar.
She spat viciously, "Chloe Nash, you bitch, not only did you seduce Silas and my brother, you’ve even driven them to break the law for you. Will you only be satisfied after you’ve gotten both of them killed?"
Despite her insults, Chloe didn’t back down.
Instead, her expression was cold and sharp as she met Stella Sterling’s gaze: "I can’t control what they do, but I won’t let you treat Julian this way."
When she finished, she slapped Stella Sterling across the face.
She’d come to make Chloe pay, but instead, she was slapped—Stella Sterling had never suffered such humiliation.
She held her reddening cheek, aggrieved, and looked to Silas Prescott for support.
"Silas, she hit me! I didn’t mean to push Julian. Are you really just going to stand there and do nothing?"
Silas spoke gently, nodding: "You’re right, I do need to do something. Otherwise, some people will never know their place."
Hearing this, Stella Sterling cursed silently: "Chloe Nash, just wait—Silas will teach you a lesson for me."
But in the next moment, she saw Silas take Chloe’s hand and swing it toward her own face.
Stella Sterling was still happily waiting for Silas to punish Chloe.
With a harsh crack, a slap landed on her cheek.
This time, the slap wasn’t from Chloe, but Silas wielding Chloe’s hand.
It was even more humiliating than if Chloe had done it herself.
Stella Sterling stared at Silas in disbelief: "Silas, why would you help her hit me?"
"You pushed my son and insulted the person I care about most. Don’t you think you deserve to be hit?"
A faint smile played on Silas’s lips: it seemed mild but was laced with icy menace.
Stella Sterling was so frightened she stumbled back a step.
She looked desperately to Henry Prescott, her eyes brimming with tears, and called out pitifully, "Uncle Prescott!"
Henry Prescott’s veins bulged on his forehead in fury at the scene.
"Silas, how dare you hit her? She’s your Uncle Sterling’s precious one! Aren’t you worried about damaging the bond between our families?"
Silas chuckled softly: "I’m doing Uncle Sterling a favor by teaching his daughter some manners. He should be thanking me."
"You bastard, where the hell are you hiding Mrs. Sterling? If anything happens to her, do you think the Sterling Family will spare you? For the sake of an outsider, are you trying to drag the Prescott Family into hell?"
Silas nonchalantly took Chloe’s hand, gently blowing on her reddened palm.
His eyes were full of tenderness as he asked, "Does your hand hurt? I’ll put some ice on it in a bit."
Chloe had no idea what Silas was thinking, or why he’d risk angering the Sterlings for her.
She hurriedly asked, "Where did you hide Mrs. Sterling?"
Silas arched his brows: "She tried to kill you, and you still want to plead for her?"
"It’s not that. I just don’t want you to do anything illegal."
Silas leaned in, his gaze locking onto hers: "So Dr. Nash is worried about me now?"
Faced with Silas’s burning gaze, Chloe grew nervous.
She quickly looked away and replied calmly, "If you break the law for me, I can’t accept that kind of favor."
Hearing this, Silas smiled with clear satisfaction.
"Remember the good I do for you. In the future, you’ll have to pay me back—one by one."
His words were gentle and lingering, as if he loved this woman before him madly.
But the moment he turned to Stella Sterling, his gentle smile chilled instantly.
"Think carefully—what is your mother most afraid of?"
Stella Sterling had never seen this dark side of Silas before.
She no longer knew what Silas wanted; he seemed like a gentle lunatic.
But at this point, she didn’t dare take risks—she could only answer honestly: "My mom’s most afraid of snakes."
Silas nodded knowingly: "Chloe’s most afraid of the dark. Claire Channing locked her in a shipping container for three hours. So, I returned the favor: I put your mom together with some snakes. She dumped Chloe at a port so hidden it was nearly impossible to find her; so I’ve dumped her somewhere just as unexpected.
If you’re as smart as I am, you’ll find her. If not, you’d better prepare for her funeral."
