Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 102: Can Brother Have a Sip of Your Water?
The debate competition ended, and the atmosphere at the scene reached a climax.
The whole audience was chanting, "Be together, be together."
The calls rose and fell like waves echoing throughout the auditorium.
Silas Prescott sat in the conference room, watching this scene, and his fingers gripping the pen turned white.
Those seemingly gentle eyes gradually became clouded with gloom.
The principal, noticing Silas glued to the big screen, smiled and introduced, "President Prescott seems interested in these two people. They are indeed our university’s legendary figures, but unfortunately, they didn’t end up together, which is a regret for all faculty and students, even for me."
Silas nodded politely, "Indeed, it’s quite a pity. However, Chloe Nash is already married. Your university deliberately creating hype over their pairing for attention seems inappropriate."
His tone was calm, betraying no emotion.
Yet beneath this calm exterior, there was an invisible pressure.
The principal couldn’t fathom his intentions and forced a smile, "This was requested by President Sterling. He donated a laboratory building to the school, so we had no choice but to arrange it this way."
Upon hearing this, Silas faintly chuckled.
So, it was Jett Sterling causing trouble.
He’s really gone through a lot of trouble to mend things with Chloe Nash, hasn’t he?
Lightly tapping the contract in his hand, Silas continued leisurely, "I’ve donated more than he has. If I make a request, would you comply as well?"
The principal suddenly had a bad feeling.
In Silas’s eyes, he seemed to see the spark of jealousy.
Facing a financial tycoon and a tech mogul, he couldn’t afford to offend either.
The principal chuckled nervously, "What does President Prescott want us to do?"
Silas tilted his head slightly and whispered a few words in the principal’s ear.
The principal nodded repeatedly in agreement.
The final item of the school celebration was, of course, donations from outstanding alumni.
The donation amounts ranged from hundreds of thousands to millions, even tens of millions.
Seeing these numbers, everyone couldn’t help but marvel, "Our university truly produces talent. I wonder who will make the largest donation at this celebration."
"Is that even a question? It must be Jett Sterling. I heard he donated a lab building to the medical school, and clearly, his intentions are more than just charity."
"This is just too touching. I’m fully supporting the Nash and Sterling pairing."
Chloe Nash glanced at Jett Sterling with some difficulty, "Isn’t what you’re doing too obvious? I’m worried Silas Prescott might take it out on you, and once he gets mad, no one can stop him." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Jett Sterling: "Chloe Nash is someone I can’t have. If I don’t fight now that I know the truth about our breakup, it’ll certainly arouse Silas Prescott’s suspicion. Don’t worry, no matter how far his reach, he can’t extend it here."
No sooner had he finished speaking, the host announced from the stage.
"Next, let’s grandly introduce the person who made the largest donation to our school, who isn’t one of our alumni, yet donated two hundred million to build a library for our school.
The library will be named ’The Paxton Pavilion’. Let’s warmly welcome this benevolent person to the stage for a speech."
Upon hearing the name, a strange tension tightened within Chloe Nash.
She suddenly felt a bad premonition.
She immediately directed her gaze to the stage, seeing a tall man strolling up.
Though his back was to her, Chloe Nash still recognized who he was.
Silas Prescott.
Recalling the library’s name and seeing Silas Prescott, Chloe’s heart suddenly started racing.
She couldn’t fathom what Silas intended to do.
Why donate to Riverton U and name it after Sienna Paxton?
Was she overthinking, or did Silas find out she was Sienna Paxton?
Considering this possibility, Chloe stiffened in her seat, even holding her breath as if she’d stopped breathing.
Seeing her tense hands in fists, Jett leaned over to reassure her in a low voice, "Don’t worry, he won’t find out, at most he’s just testing the waters."
Only after hearing this did Chloe exhale.
On stage, Silas’s presence elicited bursts of shrieks.
"Ah, how handsome is this man, he’s utterly my dream husband."
"He seems so gentle, not an ounce of domineering tycoon style, full of the husband vibe, who wouldn’t die of happiness marrying him."
These comments forced Chloe to reflect inwardly.
She used to think the same.
Lucy Rhodes once took her to campus to watch Silas Prescott play basketball.
The crowd back then screamed likewise, some said similar things.
During the break, many girls rushed to offer drinks to Silas Prescott.
Yet he politely declined them all.
His reason? If my sister brings me drinks and I don’t drink, she’ll cry.
After saying this, he dashed to Sienna Paxton’s side.
Bending down, he gazed softly at her, "Sienna, can your big brother have a sip of your water?"
Sweat beaded on his face, gliding along his sharp jawline into his pulsating chest muscles.
At his appearance, Sienna’s heart almost leaped out of her throat.
Her lashes quivered uncontrollably, as she quickly handed him the water, her voice soft as cotton candy: "Here."
Silas took the water, affectionately ruffling her hair, "Sienna’s such a good girl."
He took several gulps.
Seeing his Adam’s apple move as he drank, Sienna’s cheeks flushed red.
Silas returned the water bottle, his gaze fixed on her, "Sienna, why are your cheeks so red?"
Startled, Sienna quickly said, "It’s a bit hot today."
Beside her, Lucy Rhodes looked puzzled, "Weren’t you saying it was cold just now? How’d it suddenly get hot?"
Watching Sienna’s small, flushed face, Silas’s lips curved into an appealing smile.
He said, "Sit tight, you two. Once I win the game, I’ll treat you both to a feast."
That was the first time Sienna felt her heart stir over a boy.
During that moment, her feelings for Silas began to shift.
Recalling these memories, Chloe’s lips curved bitterly.
If only she and Silas didn’t have such a disparity in social status, if only Silas wasn’t so controlling. Might they, like the real Chloe Nash and Jett Sterling, become a couple envied by all?
But in this world, there are no what ifs.
Chloe’s recollection was interrupted by a familiar voice.
Silas’s deep, magnetic voice flowed through the microphone to her ears.
"This library was donated for a person named Sienna Paxton."
