Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 377: A Small Encounter to Showcase Strength (1)
Chapter 377: Chapter 377: A Small Encounter to Showcase Strength (1)
Ye Nai quietly released the spores, probing inside through the crack of the door. Half of the area was filled with large boxes; there were no meeting tables or chairs, but there were warriors waiting.
Her expression remained unchanged as she followed the warriors’ guidance, alighting from the vehicle and walking into the large warehouse.
Qin Rui’s team sandwiched Ye Nai in the middle, slowly pushed open the door, and entered the spacious warehouse where two colonel-ranked officers, estimated to be in their thirties, stood not far from the door.
There was no need for Ye Nai to guess their identities; as soon as the team walked completely into the warehouse and closed the door, all members of Qin Rui’s team immediately stood at attention, gave a salute in unison, calling out loud "Battalion Commander" and "Major".
After exchanging salutes, Ye Nai stepped forward to shake hands with the battalion commander and the major, then learned that the major was the aide next to the battalion commander.
After some brief pleasantries, the aide and Qin Rui’s team remained stationary, while Camp Commander Lin led Ye Nai to a pile of goods in the warehouse.
There, a basement entrance appeared on the ground.
The entrance was wide enough for forklift trucks carrying goods to pass through smoothly.
Ye Nai instantly understood the true location of this meeting.
She couldn’t help but marvel at how resourceful they were at finding such places.
The entrance was already open, and upon getting closer, it was indeed a slope, with bright lights casting upwards from below. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"Come on, let’s go down. The meeting spot is below."
Camp Commander Lin took the lead.
"Is there anything confidential in this underground warehouse?" Ye Nai asked as she followed.
"Haha, no, no, it’s empty down there. Where you see lights is where it’s been cleaned; don’t go to unlit areas, watch out for the dust." Camp Commander Lin replied with a laugh.
"Alright, alright." Ye Nai nodded repeatedly.
As they conversed, the two descended the slope and stood on the floor of the underground warehouse.
The army’s underground warehouse was well built, with good ventilation and reliable power supply. Massive beams lined the ceiling, and embedded large lights provided illumination for the entire warehouse. These lights could be controlled by zones.
As Camp Commander Lin mentioned, the area with lights was small; looking around, most areas were pitch dark.
The area with the densest lighting featured a long table with two long sides, one side had just one chair, the opposite side had several chairs. On the table, apart from teacups, lamps were arranged along the center line with wires directly connected under the table.
Curious, Ye Nai bent down to inspect and found outdoor power sources under the table.
This setup is truly simple and efficient; the outdoor power sources effortlessly supply power to several lamps without having to drag long wiring around.
On one corner of the table, a movable tea bar cart stood divided into three levels; a barrel of water was positioned on the lower level, with a water supply hose connected to a smart kettle on the tabletop. The middle level held three delicate tea canisters, labeled with green tea, black tea, and oolong tea. Additionally, there was a large thermos.
The tea bar cart also connected to an outdoor power source, specifically powering the smart machine.
"Camp Commander Lin, your preparations are quite thorough." Ye Nai praised.
"Not at all, just regular arrangements. Come, have a seat, I’ll brew tea for you." Camp Commander Lin said warmly, looking at Ye Nai as if she were Granny Cai Shen.
"Oh no, please, I can do it myself, wouldn’t dare trouble the commander." Ye Nai quickly waved her hand to decline.
"Hey, you’re the star of today’s meeting, don’t feel shy. I’ll be the third-party observer; my task today is to manage your tea drinking." Camp Commander Lin insisted.
In the end, Camp Commander Lin took Ye Nai’s teacup first.
However, Ye Nai managed to grab a canister of tea leaves; at her age, she preferred light tea, fearing Camp Commander Lin would give her a hefty amount.
Ye Nai chose oolong tea. The thermos was full of boiling water, and as the hot water poured down, the tea aroma immediately dispersed.
As the fragrant tea aroma lingered, Ye Nai gradually relaxed, getting into the right frame of mind for the meeting about to take place.
She returned to her seat with the teacup, took out her desktop computer, and placed it beside her, preparing video diaries that she might present at any moment.
Camp Commander Lin, holding his teacup, walked over, marveling at her computer.
"Wow, three screens, what are you planning to show us?"
"The global landscapes of the Otherworld, has Camp Commander Lin ever seen them?" Ye Nai asked with a smile.
"No, no, I don’t even know where the Otherworld entrance is." Camp Commander Lin cautiously glanced in the direction of the underground entrance, his eyes bright and moved a little closer to Ye Nai. "May I ask, is today’s meeting about good news?"
"It’s good news."
Ye Nai didn’t choose to tease or dodge by saying he’d know once the discussion began, but straightforwardly nodded to confirm.
"How good?" Camp Commander Lin’s interest grew even more.
"Commander, when does your camp send troops to the frontline? Are you the type of unit that immediately deploys there once fighting starts?"
"... Oh?" Camp Commander Lin’s hand shook a bit; thankfully, his cup wasn’t full, otherwise, the water would spill.
Ye Nai no longer spoke and simply nodded while looking at him.
Camp Commander Lin’s brows furrowed first but then relaxed as he grasped Ye Nai’s meaning, getting so excited that his hand trembled even more and quickly set down the teacup.
"Camp Commander Lin, hold your excitement; people will arrive shortly."
Ye Nai’s words barely fell when they heard voices and footsteps coming from above.
Camp Commander Lin immediately set his teacup back on the tea bar cart and tidied his clothes before walking briskly to the underground entrance.
Ye Nai remained quietly beside her chair, standing with a respectful gaze directed towards Camp Commander Lin’s direction.
In less than a moment, a small squad slowly descended at the entrance. The aide Ye Nai met earlier led a few people down, then Ye Nai clearly heard Camp Commander Lin’s crisp salute.
Afterwards, the aide returned to ground level and shut the entrance, with Camp Commander Lin leading the group towards the long table.
Ye Nai stood tranquil, as the opposite party approached, and the figures from the photos attached to the email gradually came into focus.
Deputy Chief of Staff Fan Zeyang led the way, with two people accompanying him, only three people came to this meeting.
As they neared, Ye Nai unhurriedly began to walk towards the end of the long table where the group was headed.
Meanwhile, they also stopped in front of the table, and the two parties cordially exchanged handshakes.
Camp Commander Lin enthusiastically introduced the parties to each other.
It turned out that besides Deputy Chief Fan Zeyang, the attendees were his secretary and aide.
After exchanging handshakes, everyone took their seats.
Ye Nai sat alone on one side, Fan Zeyang sat across from her, with the secretary on his right and the aide on his left. Camp Commander Lin sat at the table corner near his tea bar cart.
