Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 375: All Parties Are Mobilized (3)
Chapter 375: Chapter 375: All Parties Are Mobilized (3)
"It’s very likely, and she herself is definitely not in the Strategic Command Center building now. Otherwise, not only would we have been alerted about the archives being accessed, but we would also have received direct orders from the center instead of sitting at home guessing the current situation."
"Director, what should we do now?"
"Let’s go back to the office immediately and call the director to report the situation. The current state of affairs has exceeded the authority of our Coordination Office."
"Okay, Director, I’ll head out right away."
"Alright, see you at the office."
Zhou Jing drove back to her office in a hurry, taking more than half an hour. Shortly after, her secretary also arrived.
Afterward, Zhou Jing used the landline on her desk to call her superiors, namely the director, deputy director, and the secretary of the Awakener Center, one by one. She invited them to join a five-person conference call, while her secretary was tasked with taking the meeting minutes.
After organizing the known information, Zhou Jing reported the situation regarding Ye Nai to the leaders and expressed that under the current circumstances, it would be best to call Ye Nai to convey the Awakener Center’s stance.
With the approval of her superiors, Zhou Jing ended the conference call and dialed Ye Nai’s number recorded on the archives using the desk landline.
Ye Nai was still awake at the time. Judging by her limited common sense, she clearly understood that after Commander Chen had called, if no one else called her tonight, it would definitely be a dereliction of duty on the part of the relevant personnel.
So she had been using her phone for entertainment, effectively waiting for the call.
When the phone rang with the caller ID showing the main number of the Awakened Walker Center, Ye Nai immediately sat up straight and pressed the answer button.
"Hello, good evening," Ye Nai’s voice was steady and calm.
"Hello, is this Ye Nai? I am the Director of the Coordination Office of the Awakener Center, my name is Zhou Jing," Zhou Jing’s tone was polite and professional.
"Hello, Director Zhou. What does your Coordination Office do?" Ye Nai responded.
"Here’s the thing, our Coordination Office is mainly responsible for coordinating various aspects of Awakeners of Iron-level and above. Once an Awakener becomes a Copper-level Hunter, they may receive assignment tasks. Tasks assigned from above that require determining who is best suited for them are recommended by us based on the Awakeners’ conditions. To put it simply, we act as a bridge, linking Awakeners, various departments, and the center leadership to promote better cooperation."
"But I’m currently just an Iron-level Hunter. Why is the Director contacting me?"
"Because the Combat Department of the Strategic Command Center is reviewing your archive. You are an Awakener we’ve been monitoring closely, and your archive is under our protection. Once it’s accessed by external personnel, our system alerts us."
"So it was the Combat Department that alarmed you."
"Yes."
"Okay, I understand. What else would you like to discuss by calling me?"
"The center highly prioritizes your current engagement with the Strategic Command Center and wishes to know if there are any particular discoveries or experiences during your border mission that prompted the Strategic Command Center to access your archive?" Zhou Jing asked straightforwardly.
"Yes, I have gathered some intelligence, and only the Combat Department is authorized to handle it. Specifically, I can’t say much now. I first need to see if the Combat Department contacts me. If there are no follow-ups, it means my intel is worthless, and I apologize for wasting your time tonight with nothing to say. If it is valuable, you’ll be informed of the details through the Combat Department, and I won’t be able to disclose it further."
"Understood, your caution is warranted. Do you have any plans now, or do you think the center can provide you with any support in this matter?" Zhou Jing continued.
"I need basic information about the Combat Department, like the names and appearances of personnel, office locations, and any rules to follow if they acknowledge my intelligence and summon me for a meeting."
"Alright, I’ll send the information you need through the internal Awakener email. You’ll be able to see it when you log into your personal center."
"Okay, thank you, Director. I appreciate the center’s concern."
"You’re welcome. Let’s stay in touch."
After the call ended, Ye Nai returned to the game screen she had been playing and continued her game.
Meanwhile, Zhou Jing began organizing the content of her conversation with Ye Nai and then reported to her superiors. Her secretary was responsible for compiling the materials needed by Ye Nai and sending them via back-end email.
After playing on her phone for a while longer, Ye Nai received the email, reviewed it twice, memorized the attached photos, and then felt a bit tired. She plugged in her phone to charge and peacefully went to sleep, knowing those who needed to work tonight wouldn’t be her.
At the Combat Department of the Strategic Command Center, upon receiving Ye Nai’s archive, the staff’s eyes initially lit up, but it was only a fleeting moment.
A Space Awakened with apparent storage abilities, becoming an Iron-level Hunter by the age of twenty, is indeed quite competent, but it doesn’t align with the ability mentioned by Commander Chen.
Though both are space-related abilities, one merely stores items like a walking warehouse, whereas the other can perform space transmission. In comparison, space transmission is obviously more rare and valuable.
Moreover, Commander Chen implied cross-border space transmission, allowing transit between Blue Star and the Otherworld, which is even rarer than space transmission on the same planet.
The Awakener Center also called Fan Zeyang. Suddenly, an Awakener of interest to the Combat Department required communication between the two units. Successfully advancing this matter could also allow the Awakener Center to share in the credit post-achievement.
After extensive discussion with his subordinates, Fan Zeyang decided to believe the front-line Commander’s claim, recognizing that Ye Nai possesses special abilities, and concluded it might be best not to have her travel extensively, instead opting to meet her themselves.
Such an Awakener with space transmission ability can, to her liking, go anywhere she desires, which also means she can willfully travel anywhere she wants.
To ensure mutual transparency and safety, they decided not to let Ye Nai know too much about the Strategic Command Center. After all, if she suddenly appeared in the building one day, it would trigger a Level 1 alarm.
After the discussion, a call was made from the Combat Department to Camp Commander Lin, requesting his help in finding a secure, confidential location for a meeting with Ye Nai, even an underground warehouse would suffice, as long as it was highly concealed. The meeting time would be determined by Ye Nai.
