Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 313: Taking a Short Break in the Military Fortress
Chapter 313 -313: Taking a Short Break in the Military Fortress
Ye Nai didn’t recognize Witch Language or Witch Patterns. Seeing so many Witch Pattern Rings, her eyes dazzled, each looked exactly the same.
So she changed her method, only asking for thirty Witch Patterns from Beigen Military Fortress.
No sooner had the thought arisen than the dense Witch Patterns reduced to just thirty.
Ye Nai breathed a sigh of relief, trying to open thirty Transmission Ports directly in the courtyard she was in.
To avoid alerting anyone, she only asked for a small opening, it didn’t even need to exactly correspond to the locations of the related Transmission Platforms, just enough to let her know that they indeed led to thirty different places, giving her the ability to travel freely around the country.
As she wished, a miracle just happened.
Around her, at the height of her chest, thirty glowing Transmission Ports opened, each only the size of a tea caddy, big enough to fit in a fist.
Ye Nai crouched down excitedly, using her fist to measure each Transmission Port side by side; she knew without any further testing that she could open these ports whenever she desired, granting her the freedom to come and go as she pleased.
While she was enjoying this, a huge black claw of a mutant beast suddenly stretched out from one of the ports, thrusting in so forcefully that it brought in some dirt with the claw tip.
This claw was enormous; after much effort, it could only squeeze in the claw part, scraping and digging. The visible claw and the slightly exposed pad looked strikingly like those of a feline. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Ye Nai was startled, not knowing which location this particular port opened to, but it obviously piqued the curiosity of the mutant beast.
She quickly closed all the Transmission Ports, sat back in her chair, and patted her chest to calm herself.
“That scared me to death… scared me to death…”
She really had been frightened; if that large pad were to spread out, it would be bigger than her face, and she couldn’t even begin to imagine how large the actual creature was.
After sitting for a few minutes and catching her breath, Ye Nai went on to raid Beigen Military Fortress’s storehouse, kitchen, and dining hall before finally returning to the city wall to release the captives.
Having slept in the Space for a day and a night, their condition was still manageable; she laid out a long table taken from a noble house, covered with fresh food recently pilfered from the Military Fortress kitchen.
At this time, the officers would be having their late-night snack; hence the kitchen was still bustling, brightly lit, with chefs lying around, snoring.
It would be wasteful not to use the prepared food.
The Dewell and Dakler families, upon being awakened by Ye Nai, were all dumbfounded. However, a cool night breeze blew over them, bringing them back to their senses.
They got up from the ground, surveyed the food laid out on the long table. Neither adults nor children rushed at it, but instead, they looked around at each other, calling out each other’s names.
“Oh, both families know each other, huh?”
Ye Nai sat two metres away from the long table, watching and teasing the two families.
The two matriarchs turned around, adjusted their garments, and kneeled to Ye Nai in a bow.
Then, the Baron’s Wife explained.
“Great Witch, the Baron’s Domain and the Knight’s Domain are neighboring domains, we have some interactions on a regular basis.”
“Enough now, you’ve slept for a day without food or water, don’t claim I mistreated you; sit down and eat, it’s all freshly made.”
“Many thanks, Great Witch.”
Both families were conscious of their role as captives, but the younger children were a bit restless, grabbing pastries and sitting below the wall, looking around as they ate.
The child’s eyes were sharp, spotting a person lying on the ground not far away.
“There’s a person lying there.”
A boy couldn’t help but ask, immediately causing a group of young boys and girls around him to cover their mouths.
“Don’t talk; can’t you see this is a city wall? This is a Military Fortress.”
“The one on the ground is a soldier from the Military Fortress, it’s enough to just see, don’t talk recklessly.”
“How can you not keep quiet for a while when you’re eating, are you the only one with a mouth?”
The words of the young boys and girls clearly indicated they had also noticed the soldiers who no longer moved, and they were even more fearful of the Great Witch’s prowess.
Since this little boy was from a Knight’s Family, when the children started arguing, the Knight’s Wife immediately put down her food and repeatedly apologized to Ye Nai.
Ye Nai casually waved her hand, unbothered.
“It’s okay, they are just children, it’s normal for them to not hold back their words. I’m sure you can guess this is Marabene Military Fortress, I will spend the night here, and you can also move freely tonight. Tomorrow, when I leave, I will take you with me.”
“Where does the Great Witch plan to go next?”
“Yastai Military Fortress, aiming ultimately for Duke Akeley’s Domain. I’m really curious about what has happened there. If something really has happened, the vast number of books at the Wizard Academy must not be damaged. I feel it’s my duty to go and save them.”
Ye Nai was sincere, but she effectively silenced the others.
The opposing forces on the battlefield, an Avenger deep within the enemy’s territory interested in the Wizard Academy, this was certainly not pleasant news for the local nobility.
The talent and knowledge of any country’s Wizard World are precious national assets, with a slightly talented child emerging from a lowly family having the potential to elevate the entire family to a better life.
In noble families, a child with wizard talent is even more crucial, not only for better marriage prospects in the future but also for gaining a certain political standing.
Nobles struggle all their lives for political stature.
“Yastai Military Fortress is bigger than this place, heavily guarded; you going alone could get you injured, or even killed,” said the Baroness, and it was unclear if her statement was just an observation or a veiled threat.
“It doesn’t matter. Going to war, I’m already prepared for injury or death. Anyway, if I do die, having you buried with me means I lose nothing. After my death, others will continue to follow my path.”
Ye Nai didn’t care whether it was a statement or a threat; she wasn’t bothered at all. As long as she could show her face at the Transmission Platform in Yastai Military Fortress and send over the spores, what did it matter if she got hurt?
As long as she wasn’t killed on the spot, she could survive, and with such a high survival rate, why wouldn’t she take the risk?
At that moment, the little witch put down her cake and walked toward Ye Nai.
“Hello, Great Witch, my name is Oona.”
“Hello, Oona. What do you want to say?”
“I can guide you; could you exchange this favor for a better living situation for me and my brother?”
“I have already mastered the route to Duke’s Domain and Wizard Academy; I don’t need you to guide me.”
“But to go to Yastai Military Fortress, the moment you show up, the soldiers guarding the Transmission Platform will attack you. However, I can appear, and they know I am from Baron Dakler’s family; they won’t trouble me. If you disguise as a maid, I can guide you onto the fortress grounds.”
After hearing this, Ye Nai thought it was a good suggestion, further reducing the risk of conflict. Oona was a smart person, but the normalcy of her life experience had still made her overlook some important points.
