Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi-Chapter 302 - : Return to Otherworld Luoke Town
Chapter 302 -302: Return to Otherworld Luoke Town
Ye Nai gradually slowed down and continued to pursue at a low speed for a while.
When the rear of the walking troop appeared in her sight and camera lens, she immediately stopped the car, ended the filming, took herself and her vehicle back to the East Ridge Secret Realm, and then opened a portal to the Otherworld to check the outside sky. Seeing that it was dark, she then quickly cleaned up and went through, setting up camp on the small meadow where she had picked Translation Mushrooms for several hours.
Due to the time difference there, considering the time she spent running around in the Military Fortress and chasing the enemy forces by car, which added up to over six hours, half a month had already passed in the Beigen Village of the Otherworld, and the temperature had turned slightly cool.
Ye Nai touched her arms, which were covered in goosebumps from the wind, and pulled out a windbreaker to put on.
The Fungal Mycelium that had naturally grown in the village and the Military Fortress over half a month sent back feedback to Ye Nai: the fortress was still empty, and life in the village continued as usual. Spores could not provide more detailed information; she would need to ask someone in person.
A thought struck Ye Nai, and she used Space Teleportation to arrive at the empty Military Fortress, released her two-story building in the square, and slept after freshening up.
She woke up naturally to an overcast sky with a light drizzle, feeling even colder than before.
An hour later, after preparing a hearty bowl of giant wontons with a side dish of chilled Translation Mushrooms, Ye Nai, now satiated, cleaned up, donned her sports camera, and took out her motorcycle to head to the town.
There was only one road from the Military Fortress to the town, and this single packed-earth path passed through Beigen Village. The villagers who continued their lives after burying their loved ones were busy with early morning farm work when they suddenly saw a metal monster quietly rushing towards them. Startled, they dropped everything in their hands, screaming and fleeing into the village, only to turn back and look on with lingering fear as the metal monster sped away.
By the time the Mayor got the news and rushed to the entrance of the village, the metal monster had long since disappeared.
“Mayor, could it be that enemy has come back?”
“Did you see it come from the direction of the Military Fortress?”
“There’s only this one road, it must have come from there.”
“Let’s follow and see how the Mayor of the town deals with that metal monster.”
“Right, right, the Mayor always thought it suspicious that we survived. Let’s see how he faces the enemy.”
“Yes, I agree!”
“I agree too!”
“Let’s go, let’s go now!”
The villagers gathered around the Mayor, chattering nonstop, and their numbers soon conjured up a unanimously approved good idea. The entire village was quickly mobilized, regardless of age or gender. They abandoned their housework and farm labor, brought out all the ox carts, and rushed to the town to see what was happening.
Ye Nai, wearing a dark-colored windbreaker and waterproof pants, with genuine military boots on her feet and a motorcycle helmet on her head, arrived in less than an hour at a bustling market, catching whiffs of the stench of livestock in the wind.
As in Beigen Village, the sight of her caused waves of screaming and running, with people not even bothering to pick up the things they dropped.
Ye Nai rode her motorcycle straight into the market and caused a commotion, eventually arriving at the central square.
The square was lively, filled with the sounds of livestock. On the day of the town’s big market, traders would come here to do business with the farmers.
As Ye Nai’s motorcycle approached, the farmers and traders cried out and dodged, making way in the center.
Fortunately, it was still early, and not many farmers had arrived for trades yet, so the number of livestock was relatively low and the smell was bearable.
Ye Nai parked the motorcycle, took off the helmet, and stored both herself and the motorcycle back in the East Ridge Secret Realm.
The farmers in the square hugged their chickens, ducks, cows, and sheep, trembling, while the bolder traders crouched in corners, still craning their necks to look.
“Hey, who is that?”
“Don’t know, never seen them before.”
“Such a small stature, is it a child?”

“Doesn’t quite look like it.”
“Could it be that enemy?”
“What enemy?!”
“Ah, the one who took out the Military Fortress?!”
“What’s going on?” the merchants broke out in a cold sweat, “Don’t scare me, really, there’s such a thing?”
“You merchants don’t know about the incident at the military fortress?”
“Know what? I was elsewhere during the last market day; this is my first time here this month.”
“Hey, hey, hey, when did this happen? I was here at the last market day and heard nothing of it.”
“The Old Knight imposed a gag order, forbidding us from talking about it everywhere.”
“The incident at the military fortress was done by this person?”
“Don’t know, only the people from Beigen Village have seen him, and we haven’t seen any of them yet.”
“Forgot? The Mayor won’t let them come, saying he suspects they’re colluding with the enemy to sabotage the military fortress.”
“Really? False?”
“Who knows, Beigen Village is fine now, the Old Knight hasn’t given any orders.”
“That’s true, the Mayor just loves to talk nonsense.”
Ye Nai stood there for a while, soon understanding the events of the past half month from the whispered conversations that were not concealed around the plaza.
Above the Mayor was the Old Knight, and he needed to meet this Old Knight.
Just as he had this thought, he saw a group of burly men carrying hoes rushing over from the other side of the plaza, yelling strangley under the leader’s command as they charged towards Ye Nai.
With one glance from Ye Nai, the group collapsed weakly onto the dirty ground.
“Ah!”
Piercing screams echoed around, regardless of gender, age, or status; everyone was screaming, including the farmers and merchants who had been whispering earlier, no one was an exception.
Ye Nai found their noise annoying, and since the number of onlookers had almost completely filled the plaza, he immediately used spores to silence them all. One by one, they slumped to the ground, unable to get up or make a sound.
Everyone was scared out of their wits, their bodies out of control; they could move only their upper bodies, their mouths could open and close but couldn’t make a sound, though their eyes and ears were still functioning.
They were immensely afraid yet showed extreme meekness; no one’s face bore a look of dissatisfaction, unwillingness, or desire to rebel.
At last, Ye Nai leisurely walked towards the leader of that group of burly men.
Their features were indistinct, but looking around the entire crowd, any adult male had a carelessly kept, unkempt beard.
“Who are you?”
Ye Nai stood in front of the leading man, lifting his vocal restrictions.
“I…” the man began to speak subconsciously, and realizing he could talk, he sat up straight, “I am the Mayor of this town, who are you?”
“What’s this town called?”
“This is Luoke Town.”
“Where can one go from this town?”
“Go where? To the next town.”
Ye Nai frowned, “The next town? What’s the name of that town?”
“No, no, the next town is Dewell Town. Our two towns together belong to Knight Dewell’s hereditary domain.”
“Hereditary? Why?”
“For military achievements on the battlefield. Once enough military achievements are accrued, one can receive a Knight’s Domain. Our two towns have been the subjects of the Old Knight here generation after generation.”
