Endless Leveling Done Right!-Chapter 201: Endless Horizon’s Prestige [Part 1]
Alex reminded his overly excited club members to get some proper rest before challenging the rankings the next day.
But some of them were already raring to go and proceeded to challenge the rankings anyway.
Charles, Renard, and Lavinia hurriedly headed to the training rooms as if they were worried that the academy points would magically sprout legs and walk away.
Alex could understand why Charles and Renard needed academy points.
But Lavinia?
He knew that she had always been very competitive, but he didn’t think it was to the point that she would jump at an opportunity, however good, to collect academy points.
As the darling princess of the Clawford Tribe, she was already rich to begin with.
However, the young man didn’t know that Lavinia wanted to gain things with her own hand, especially after experiencing the trials that the commoners needed to take in order to enter Frieden Academy.
Her grandfather, Ramza, had already paid for her tuition fee, which was a whopping ten thousand gold coins.
But since Lavinia had passed the scholarship trial, the tuition fee was refunded.
Her mindset had also changed drastically. She broke free from the mentality of a spoiled and arrogant young lady who could get anything she wanted because of her family’s wealth and background.
Perhaps she had also been influenced by Alex and the other students in Ironheart Dormitory. Students of commoner birth were typically very eager to earn academy points so they could buy daily necessities in the academy.
"They’re like kids going on a fieldtrip," Nessia commented as she watched her three friends leave the clocktower after they finished eating.
"Indeed." Chuck chuckled. "But Alex, are you sure that they can beat the current records? There are many powerhouses every year, and they are the ones who constantly break the records. It will not be easy to climb over their achievements."
"You’re right," Alex agreed. "But I believe in them."
"Really?" Chuck’s face brightened a bit. "So, do you believe in me as well?"
"... Of course."
"Hey! Why was there a slight pause in your answer?!"
Nessia giggled after hearing Alex’s and Chuck’s banter.
She then waved her hand, turning the walls of the clocktower see-through. The clocktower now seemed to be made of massive windows, which allowed them to view the academy grounds from every direction.
Just like her friends, Nessia also wanted to compete in the training rooms and smash the records that had been set by students from previous batches.
However, unlike Renard who liked to bulldoze his way to everything, Nessia preferred to be prepared before tackling a task.
She was a formation master as well as a Mage, making her a very flexible combatant in both offense and defense.
Alex glanced at the young lady, who was looking at the magic tower in the distance. It housed one of the training rooms that was only meant for magical usage.
’I’m sure you can do it, Nessia,’ Alex thought. ’After all, you are a Phoenix that will soar high up in the sky and make everyone understand the true genius that you are born to be.’
With two of the main protagonists as members of his club, Alex was sure that they would be able to achieve many great things together.
He knew of the challenges that they would face as well as the hardships that might break them.
Alex had pondered many times if he should extend his hand and prevent these things from happening.
But, in the end, he decided that he would only help minimally.
The reason?
The main protagonists needed character growth.
If he prevented them from suffering hardships, they would not be able to unlock their full potential.
’The first Arc is about to begin a month from now,’ Alex thought. ’I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone will perform.’
As someone who had played the Story Mode of all the main Heroes and Heroines of ELO, Alex already knew what was going to happen in the inter-class survival challenge that would take place a couple of weeks from now.
Class A, with all of its powerhouses, would be unleashed, and it would force the other classes to form temporary alliances in order to face them head on.
Powerful fighters like Princess Xenia and the other Main Protagonists like Renard would make this challenge very hard.
However, Alex already had a plan in mind, which would make the seemingly impossible challenge possible.
The next day...
Alex and Dim Dim woke up early to head to the cafeteria.
The young man had already listed a set of challenges that he was planning to take alongside Dim Dim, which would guarantee him a spot among the top 3.
However, Alex didn’t head to the training room right after he finished eating.
No.
He headed to the Exchange Center in order to exchange some of his academy points for something that would help him make the challenges easier.
"You are going to exchange 100 Academy Points for a thousand steel pellets, am I right?" the Clerk asked.
"Yes," Alex confirmed.
"Understood. Please wait here while I get your order."
"Thank you."
A few minutes later, the clerk returned carrying a storage ring with a thousand steel pellets. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Solid gleaming spheres of cold steel, each about the size of a large marble, were neatly arranged inside the storage ring, making Alex nod in satisfaction.
He then handed the storage ring to Dim Dim. The Dim Sum God wondered if Alex was giving it the small steel balls to be used as projectiles.
"Dim Dim?"
"You’ll understand when we get there, Dim Dim."
The reason why Alex was planning to challenge the Ranged Weapon Training Room, despite not being good at it, was because of the Dim Sum God.
He noticed that his little partner had god-like accuracy when it threw things.
[E/N: Well, it’s a god, so perhaps everything it did was god-like.]
Since that was the case, wouldn’t it be a waste if he didn’t let the little bun have some fun and earn academy points at the same time?
Once they arrived at the training room, Alex entered a private room and activated the ranking system.
———
[Ranking System Activated.]
[What kind of Training would you like to challenge?]
———
"I want to challenge Rapid Shot Arena," Alex replied. "Please register the challenger’s name as Dim Dim. For club name and role, please put down Mascot of the Endless Horizon Club"
———
[Affirmative!]
[Rapid Shot Arena Ranking Challenge!]
[Challenger Name: Dim Dim]
[Affiliation: Mascot of Endless Horizon Club]
———
"Dim Dim, just hit as many targets as fast as you can, okay?" Alex said with a smile. "Use the steel pellets that I gave you as ammunition."
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim saluted, feeling very excited that it was going to play a fun game of throwing things at moving targets.
Alex moved back as the environment inside the room changed into that of a wide open plain.
Dim Dim had integrated the storage ring into its own dimensional storage, allowing it to easily take out the steel balls as if it was plucking them out of thin air.
[Challenge Countdown Will Begin in...]
[3... 2... 1!]
[Start!]
As soon as the challenge began, dozens of brittle clay pigeons and circular targets resembling flying plates, flew around Dim Dim in every direction. They were meant to explode into fragments when hit.
They flew from the top, the left, the right, and the back, moving in different angles that could easily confuse a lesser being’s senses.
However, instead of being overwhelmed, Dim Dim’s eyes became serious as it started to throw its steel pellets at each target with incredible speed and accuracy.
"Ei!"
"Ei!"
"Ei!"
"Ei!"
"Ei!"
Dim Dim was like a tennis ball that jumped in every direction as it flung its steel pellets in rapid fire mode.
The sound of clay plates breaking echoed inside the training room as the points on the scoreboard rose steadily with each target hit.
The little bun was in its element. After it got used to the speed and trajectory of the targets, it started to change its strategy as well.
Not only did Dim Dim’s throws become faster, they also became more powerful as well. Dim Dim could now break multiple targets with a single steel pellet.
Soon, the little bun found its rhythm, and the points on the scoreboard rose drastically as if it had been injected with chicken blood.
Two minutes later, the challenge ended.
[Congratulations! You managed to beat the second highest rank in the Rapid Shot Arena Challenge!]
[If you quit now, the points will automatically be awarded to you!]
[If you choose to continue, your earlier score will be null and void.]
[Would you like to continue?]
[Yes/No]
"Dim Dim!" Dim Dim shouted, as if telling the AI that it had just finished warming up.
Since this was its first time challenging the Rapid Shot Arena Challenge, it was still not used to how things were done.
But now, it understood the mechanics, so it didn’t hesitate to attempt the challenge once again.
Alex, who saw the competitiveness of the little bun, smirked because he knew that Dim Dim would not settle for second place.
Three minutes later, a new record appeared in the Rankings, and an announcement was heard by everyone inside the Second Training Room of the academy.
[The Challenger, Dim Dim, has set a new record for the Rapid Shot Arena Ranking Challenge!]
Those who were in the training room immediately checked the Rankings of the Rapid Shot Arena Challenge and saw that the top score had indeed changed.
