Elixir Supplier-Chapter 949: Petty Affairs
949 Petty Affairs
It was to introduce him to a person who wanted to take on the Valley of Thousands of Medicine. Rather, a person who wanted to take on the people from there.
“Let me think about it.” Miao Chengtang did not rush to agree to anything. He truly needed to think it over. While he and Miao Qingyuan had been very close friends and had no secrets between them, that was in the past. People changed. He had no idea if Miao Qingyuan was still that simple guy he knew back then. It was very possible that the other man was no longer who he once was.
After he hung up, Miao Qingyuan said to Xu Xinyuan, who was by his side, “He said he needed to think about it.”
“Try to get out of here as soon as possible. Both Miao Qingfeng and Miao Changhong are now in He County. You said it yourself, Miao Xihe’s eyes and ears are everywhere.
“I’ll leave as soon as I’m done with this.”
Miao Chengtang was on the bed staring at the ceiling. He was waiting to get out of He County. It seemed as if he would never get out. His eyes seemed rather dazed. His mind was in a mess. He thought about the life he had back in the village, and the sheer fright and suspense when he escaped. He had been forced into a desperate predicament and almost died from a curse poison. Now, his future was uncertain. He would have to start over somewhere foreign. He had no notable skills to speak of and only a few medical skills. Surviving was an ample challenge in itself. He wondered how would be able to live like a normal person.
At present, he was almost penniless.
He thought about it for quite some time before springing up.
He took out his phone and called Miao Qingyuan.
“What can he give me?” The question was direct.
Xu Xinyuan smiled hearing what Miao Qingyuan relayed to him.
“It’s good to have requests. I had been afraid that you desired nothing.”
“What does he want?”
“Money to leave this area and start over.”
“That is no problem,” Xu Xinyuan said. “Where does he want to go?”
After hanging up, Miao Chengtang peered outside the window. He sat there looking dazed.
That was the third phone call in less than an hour. The other party seemed sincere. He offered $100,000 right off the bat. However, none of them were idiots. There was no one whose money was simply something that rained from the sky. Taking the money meant that he needed to get to work. He had to do what he could to provide useful information. In truth, he knew a lot. The information he had told Yang Guanfeng and Lu Xiufeng was simply about 20 percent of all that he actually knew. Secrets of greater importance remained kept in his mind. He had told no one about them.
It’s time to spill the beans.
At another location in He County…
“Did you find the location?”
“Yes.” Miao Qingfeng took a sip of the tea and said, “But it’s not the right time for us to make a move now.”
“Why?”
“That place is somewhat special. There are cops everywhere. We’ll expose ourselves if we’re not careful. Things could get rough if that happens.”
Miao Qingshan and Miao Changhong were both in He County, thinking of ways to make Miao Chengtang’s life a living hell. Furthermore, they had discovered where he was hidden.
“Let’s wait until he leaves southern Yunnan.”
“When will he be leaving?”
“Soon. He is probably wishing to leave every day now,” Miao Qingfeng said with a chuckle.
In Qi Province, thousands of miles away, things were frigid given the time of the year.
“Man, it’s really getting cold outside!” Jia Zizai was not wearing a lot as he stood on the mountain. He seemed moderately dressed. Usually, people wore layers of clothing in such cold temperatures.
On the eastern mountain, the plants had withered.
On the southern mountain, the plants remained lush.
The neighboring mountains were a stark contrast to each other.
“By the time the new year comes, the weather will soon turn warm again,” Hu Mei said.
They were hardly affected by the climate. By now, all three of them were quite unaffected by the changes in temperatures. Even if they were to only wear a shirt in such weather, they would have been fine.
“What Master taught us is really something.” Jia Zizai expressed how impressed he was again.
“Alright, Big Brother is here. Let’s get to training.”
The wind was strong and cold on the mountain.
The three disciples sat cross-legged and closed their eyes. Their surroundings were dead silent.
Things were warm and cozy on the southern mountain.
Wang Yao practiced his fist techniques on the top of the mountain before descending.
When he arrived home, he found his father smoking and looking rather glum.
“What happened, Dad?”
Zhang Xiuying emerged from the kitchen when she heard Wang Yao’s voice. “Your Third Aunt called last night. She is thinking of getting a divorce from your uncle.”
“Divorce again? What is it this time?” Wang Yao asked. This was not the first time the pair had talked about getting a divorce. According to what he knew, it seemed to happen once or twice every year.
“Your aunt said that your uncle was having affairs. His relationships with other women are getting messy.” Zhang Xiuying sighed and said, “They were both kicking up a fuss back home when your dad received a call at about 10 last night.”
Wang Yao felt rather disgruntled about that. Those two knew no bounds. Almost every time they fought, their quarrel was soon known by his parents. It made his parents worried sick.
“What did Third Uncle say?”
“He’s getting a divorce,” Zhang Xiuying said.
“Well, good for him!” Wang Yao wasn’t sure what to say.
The two had been fighting for quite a while. If they were to actually get a divorce, Wang Yao’s parents would no longer need to worry about them. His third uncle had a family of his own, so he should not have bothered his father with his private affairs. His third uncle was not a child anymore.
“That’s easy for you to say. You know what your third uncle’s situation is. That guy has nothing. He was at least able to get married, so what happens if he gets divorced? While your third aunt has all sorts of problems herself, she is actually a decent person. Your uncle needs some around to keep him in check, or at least to help him somewhat keep himself in line.”
“I couldn’t care less about how they fight. But Dad, don’t worry about him anymore. Both of them are in their 40s now. They’re not kids.”
“Yeah.” Wang Fenghua simply nodded.
Zheng Weijun came to the clinic at about 9 a.m. He looked rather happy.
“Are you busy, Master?”
Wang Yao smiled and said., “Not really. No patients have shown up so far. Judging from your looks, there are new sales routes for the new meds.”
“Yes.” Zheng Weijun nodded.
He had been worried sick about that for quite a while, which had increased the amount of silver hair on his head. He was very adamant when he let go of the rights he had in the family back then, but he learned just how difficult it was when he ventured out on his own. Those so-called friends of his from back then valued his power instead of him as a person. They had been after the gleaming renown of the Zheng family. Since he decided to renounce his rights, few people emerged to help him. It was fortunate that Wang Yao’s medicine truly worked.
“Distributers from two cities are making purchases the second time around,” Zheng Weijun said.
He was referring to those outside of the province. The people in the Sun family were not taken into consideration. In truth, the Sun family had been constantly making purchases. Sun Yunsheng had even made a trip specifically to sign a contract with him. From then on out, it was no longer just Dao, but all medicines available from Nanshan Pharmaceutical Company throughout Qi Province were distributed only by the Sun family. Other than that, he took one to two months to open up markets in the north and northeastern regions before coming to deal with Zheng Weijun again. The second request for goods all came from southern cities outside of the province.
Wang Yao smiled and said, “Splendid!”
“It’s thanks to your medicines being extremely well-developed,” Zheng Weijun said. That was the key. There was a saying that went, “Good wine needs no bush.” That held true even in contemporary society. Good stuff always had a market. Since information was now so widespread, anything could spread far and wide on the internet as long as there was some bit of attention to it.
“There’s no rush in producing the meds then,” Wang Yao said.
“Huh?” Zheng Weijun was baffled.
“Fake stuff is everywhere these days. Tell the distributers that we’ll be providing them with a set amount every year,” Wang Yao said. He initially had no intention of interfering with the matter since they had a deal that Zheng Weijun would be responsible for sales.
“Well, that’s just my suggestion. It’s up to you if you want to take it.”
“Every large region can have only one distributor, and the amount of medicines provided will be limited,” Wang Yao said.
“Hmm, fine. That’s a good piece of advice, Master. I’ve been looking into specialized Ru0026D organizations when it comes to counterfeit prevention. Right now, Nanshan Pharmaceutical Company has 10 methods for such prevention. Furthermore, most of our goods are not things that can be replicated. The cost is simply too high.”
“That is good to hear.” Wang Yao nodded.
“We’ll prepare to manufacture another type of medicine next year.”
