Chapter 896: Chapter 932: A Lifetime Is a Long Time

"Do you really have to oppose this? Actually, if Dorian loves this woman so much, then maybe letting them be together wouldn’t be such a bad thing. The Howards Family doesn’t really need a commercial marriage alliance now," Alfred Howards said. π™§π™šπ™šπ”€π’†π“«π“·π™€π“Ώπ’†π™‘.𝒄𝙀𝓢

"That woman will only bring trouble to the Howards Family. Do you know who her father is?!" Gemma exclaimed.

Alfred was momentarily stunned, and then his expression changed dramatically upon hearing the name from his wife’s mouth. "This... how is that possible?! That person, weren’t they already..."

"Yes, I thought it was impossible too, but it’s him!" Gemma said, "This woman will only be trouble for both Dorian and the Howards Family!"

Alice Conley felt constantly uneasy. She knew that today Dorian Howards had returned to Falling City and would be talking to his family about their relationship. She didn’t know what the final outcome would be. Maybe... deep down, she could vaguely foresee the worst outcome, but she couldn’t help but feel an unsettling anxiety.

Suddenly, her phone rang, and when she looked at the caller ID, it was Dorian Howards’ name.

Alice hurriedly answered, and Dorian’s voice came through, "Where are you right now?"

She was taken aback, sensing an indescribable exhaustion in his voice, "I’m home. You... what’s wrong? Are you very tired?"

"Could you come out for a bit?" he said, "Remember to wear an extra layer so you don’t catch a cold."

"Now?" she asked in surprise, "Where should I go?"

"Just to your front door, I’m right outside your house," he said.

Startled, she quickly went out to open the door. As soon as she opened it, she saw that familiar figure standing at the entrance, looking travel-weary.

"Why are you..." Before she could finish her sentence, he reached out his arm and pulled her into his embrace.

"I’m sorry," he murmured, "Alice, perhaps our wedding won’t receive my family’s blessing. It’ll be unfair to you, I’m sorry."

There was so much guilt in his tone.

Her heart ached, realizing he hadn’t been able to convince his family. She didn’t care about being treated unfairly; she just didn’t want him to feel so guilty, as it wasn’t his fault to begin with.

Originally, she thought he wouldn’t be back until the earliest the next day, but he returned at this hour, making her heart ache for him even more.

"It’s okay," Alice said, raising her hands to wrap tightly around Dorian’s waist, embracing him firmly, "After all, a lifetime is long. As long as we’re happy, maybe one day your family will accept me."

She only wanted to be with him, for eternity.

"Yeah," he replied softly, not mentioning that perhaps the journey would be challenging.

"Alice, let’s have our wedding next month," Dorian said. She was already four months pregnant, and soon her belly would only become more noticeable, "Our wedding will be held here in J City. I’ll give you everything I can. Alice, I will definitely make you happy."

"Yeah, I trust you," Alice smiled, trusting that this man would bring her much happiness in her future because he loved her so much.

"Clover, why are you looking at this badge again?"

"Because it means a lot to me, it’s something I can never lose. I always feel that if I can figure out the origin of this badge, maybe I can find out where I came from. Edward, are you still unable to trace the origin of this badge?"
