Chapter 323: Chapter 223: Undermining

Wen Shi’s response was to hug her and laugh quietly, making Yi Chichi annoyed and claw at him.

"What’s so funny? My hands are really sore."

She hadn’t written so many words in a long time and had to be careful not to write too messily, worried they wouldn’t understand.

Some technical terms needed notes, which increased the already large workload.

It’s hard!

She was really struggling!

"Honey, let’s go to sleep. In dreams, everything’s there."

Yi Chichi was not giving up easily, "Can’t you really assign a clerk?"

"Don’t even think about it, no chance."

Those with high education levels are spinning like tops non-stop, overwhelmed with their primary work alone, let alone additional work.

They truly don’t have the time.

Those with time, don’t have the educational level; after all, the average education level currently is low.

Many soldiers only attended literacy classes for a few days before joining the army, barely recognizing words. Now it’s somewhat better, but still not as good as proper students from schools.

Let’s not compare with poor students; they are definitely better than that.

However, no matter the type, none could be his wife’s clerk.

"How about pulling an all-nighter to finish it?"

Yi Chichi shamefully felt tempted, though tempted not to act.

"Forget it, I’ll write it myself. You’re busy during the day, I can’t bear to have you stay up all night."

This is a burden she took on herself; like a steel woman, she chose this road and would walk to the end even on her knees.

Can’t shift responsibility to her busy husband.

"Really don’t want it?"

Wen Shi was quite willing to help, staying up a night was nothing to him.

For the sake of his wife, he could endure.

"Nope."

Yi Chichi firmly refused his good intentions again, immediately passing her right hand to him, "Rub my wrist, remember to be gentle."

"Okay."

The man dutifully massaged her wrist with a light touch, making Yi Chichi comfortably sleepy, but she remembered something, "You guys don’t go out to sea now?"

"We’re not made of iron. We floated on the sea from the end of the year to after the start of the new year, resting just now when you arrived."

"Who’s floating at sea now then?"

"Brothers from the neighboring regiment."

Yi Chichi responded, "You take turns going?"

"Yes."

"Still, there are too few equipments."

Thinking of the 055 destroyer and big aircraft carriers in the future, Yi Chichi sighed, "Hopefully Jiang Xingxing can step up and make outstanding contributions to the country’s maritime defense."

Wen Shi, "!!"

Didn’t quite understand the logic between the two.

"What if she’s studying airplanes?"

"Working on fighter jets is great too."

Wen Shi could see his wife had high hopes for Jiang Xingxing.

"Do you think she has talent in this area?"

How would she know; she wasn’t involved, but, "Shouldn’t be bad, after all, she can dismantle and reassemble things like bikes, radios, and sewing machines, which is something I can’t do."

"You dismantled before?"

"I did."

Dismantled but couldn’t put it back, it was scattered all over, stepped on and couldn’t remember which part went where.

Her father had even complained about her, saying she had hands but no eyes, nor a heart.

Wen Shi was silent for two seconds, his big hand covered her eyes, "Honey, sleep."

Waking up is another beautiful day.

However, that’s for him, not for Yi Chichi, because she had to write down points of knowledge.

Writing for four straight days, producing a thick stack of handwritten notes.

Once finished, she felt a sense of release and liberation, almost wanting to run outside and howl like a wolf.

Still, she valued face.

So, she could only organize the knowledge points neatly in order, bind them with a stapler, and the moment Wen Shi returned in the evening, she handed it over.

"My task is complete; let them solve the rest themselves. The knowledge points have been exhausted. If any questions arise, don’t come ask me; it’s truly drained, can’t answer."

She emphasized repeatedly, worried Zhang Xin and the others would come again seeking help.

Wen Shi responded with a smile, but his mind was on the class when Yi Chichi and Zhang Xin were mutually disdainful, feeling they wouldn’t come.

With nothing more to worry about, Yi Chichi was thoroughly relaxed, smiling, "Can we have a luxurious seafood noodle tonight?"

"Where did seafood come from?"

"Sister-in-law Qi and the others went picking from the sea, got a good haul, shared some with me."

Wen Shi nodded, "Sure, I’ll cook the noodles."

"I’ll accompany you."

"Come if you’re not afraid of the heat."

Naturally, she wasn’t afraid; the house was fine anyway, plus the wind was strong today. Opening front and back doors, the breeze felt comfortable on the body.

Sister-in-law Qi and the others were very generous, sharing some of the catch from the sea with her. Though each kind wasn’t much, there were a variety, totaling over three pounds.

Fish, shrimps, crabs, shells all included.

Wen Shi checked the sand-spitting state of the shellfish and instructed, "Honey, go to Old Lin’s house and ask for two cucumbers and two green peppers."

"Okay."

She nodded and ran out to the Lin family, where the couple were having dinner.

Upon stating her reason for coming, Ji Jian pointed to a basket on the table against the wall in the main room, "The big ones are in the basket, take what you need."

Yi Chichi thanked and took two cucumbers and two green peppers.

Lin Qiu Ping eyed her sideways, "Is that enough? Take a few more, I’m not charging you."

"Just this much is fine."

She smiled, "If you want to charge, deal with Mr. Wen."

Lin Qiu Ping seemed choked, putting down his chopsticks and cupped his hands in a bow toward her.

"Sister-in-law, I won’t keep you for dinner, hurry back and have Old Wen cook for you."

"Alright, goodbye, brother, sister-in-law, enjoy your meal."

After greeting, Yi Chichi brought her loot home.

Half an hour later, she was savoring the fragrant luxurious seafood noodles.

The couple each holding a big sea bowl, slurping noodles, sweating all over their heads, satisfied and full, Wen Shi deftly cleaned up the pots and utensils and sincerely invited her.

"Walk along the beach?"

"Grab a few coconuts to drink." She boldly requested, Wen Shi nodded affirming it was possible, then went next door to the Qi family to borrow coconut plucking tools.

A long wooden stick with a sickle tied on top.

Someone they met along the way humorously asked if he was preparing to sweep all coconuts from the trees. Wen Shi laughed saying that’s impossible, just a few would suffice.

Then, Madam Lu laughed, "Since you’re picking, will you pick a few more for me to share with my family?"

Her husband had gone to sea, leaving her alone to juggle work and caring for the kids, barely having time for anything, let alone picking coconuts.

Wen Shi nodded, "Sure, I’ll bring you two back."

"Could you bring me two as well?"

The speaker being Zhang Xinsheng, Wen Shi’s reply was hooking his neck, "No problem, you take them home."

Zhang Xinsheng didn’t want to go, saying, "I want to accompany the kids."

But his kids didn’t need him around, Wen Sheng uninhibitedly exposed him.

"Dad, you go with Uncle Wen to pick coconuts. It doesn’t matter whether you’re here or not."
