Educated Youth in the Countryside: She is the Village's Embroidery Queen!-Chapter 308: Concussion
"If I remember correctly, these families are leaving."
Yi Chichi immediately understood what she meant, "Old Huang doesn’t have that capability."
In the military, the decision about officers and soldiers staying or leaving isn’t up to someone at the camp level.
Ji Jian sighed, "They know that too, they’re just trying to fight for it."
I can understand, but it’s useless.
Yang Qing can’t whisper sweet nothings to Old Huang, and even if she could, Old Huang is powerless.
Seeing that she didn’t respond, Ji Jian sensibly stopped the topic and instead said, "I wonder how severe Yang Qing’s injury is."
It’s quite serious.
The back of her head is injured, bleeding a lot and it looks scary. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
For easier disinfection and application of medicine, Zhang Xin and the others shaved the hair on the back of her head.
When Yi Chichi and the others arrived, she was lying on the infirmary bed, moaning.
She was conscious, but her face was pale with a pained expression.
Yi Chichi and Ji Jian went to ask Zhang Xin about her condition and didn’t hurry to see her, waiting instead until the other wives finished visiting.
"Why are you here too?"
Seeing Yi Chichi and Ji Jian, Yang Qing looked embarrassed.
"You’re in such a scary situation, how could we not come to see you?"
Putting down the eggs they brought, Yi Chichi leaned in to check the back of her head, "Did anyone notify your Old Huang?"
"Yes."
But he couldn’t come right away because Old Huang wasn’t stationed here; he had gone with the larger unit to help the locals with post-disaster rebuilding.
"He probably won’t know until tonight."
Her voice carried a hint of grievance.
Ji Jian understood this feeling well, patted her hand in comfort, and said, "We’re here for you, and Old Huang is handling important matters, so don’t be like Zhang Xiaotan because of this."
Yang Qing wanted to laugh, but the pain from her wound stopped her, so she simply restrained her expression and said helplessly, "Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing, and I’m not the type to cause trouble like Zhang Xiaotan."
This was a new name Yi Chichi hadn’t heard before.
Curious, Wen Sheng asked, "Who is Zhang Xiaotan? Have I met them?"
"No."
Ji Jian shook her head, "When you came over this year, Zhang Xiaotan had already left with her husband."
Then she detailed this person’s ’great achievements.’
Zhang Xiaotan was famous in the family quarters, a typical troublemaker, unable to get along with anyone, could twist the truth around and make any situation contentious.
She would go as far as beating and scolding her own husband, their fights were earth-shattering.
Even the women’s federation and senior leaders had to step in, issue penalties and ask for self-reflection.
But it was useless, as Zhang Xiaotan went her own way.
Her husband couldn’t stand it anymore and wanted a divorce, which she threatened with death.
The worst incident reportedly involved her attempting to hang herself, being saved by a passing wife.
Her antics eventually drove her husband away.
Upon hearing about her ’great achievements’, Yi Chichi was shocked into wide-eyed silence, "Her husband voluntarily left?"
"Voluntarily left."
He simply had no way to cope, couldn’t withstand his wife.
Mentioning Zhang Xiaotan’s husband, Yang Qing chimed in with some helplessness, "Old Huang says Gong Changming was just dragged down by his wife."
That’s indeed true.
Neither could control nor leave her.
But that was before, and now, "It’s probably over."
"Hmm?"
With Yi Chichi’s words, Ji Jian and Yang Qing both looked over.
"Why? If he couldn’t leave while in the unit, how could he succeed after leaving?"
"Precisely because he was in the unit that he couldn’t leave."
With apprehensions in mind; if Gong Changming was determined to leave and truly someone died because of it, even if everyone knew it wasn’t his fault, his future would be over.
If he couldn’t manage his own household, how could he manage the country?!
A person who can’t even control his wife or prevents chaos that leaders have to address wouldn’t be trusted with important roles, no matter how capable he is.
Because there are unstable elements.
However, he retired.
The threats gripping his fate were gone, and returning locally, if there’s any emotion left, everything’s negotiable.
If there’s no emotion...
Gong Changming would have ways to regain his freedom.
With this analysis, Ji Jian and Yang Qing suddenly realized the truth.
Yang Qing then provided her assessment, "Then there definitely was no feeling left; just the way she caused trouble would’ve worn out any good feelings."
"Besides," glancing around, seeing no one but the three of them, Yang Qing whispered another complaint, "Men can be really scary when they turn ruthless."
This was true, and Ji Jian nodded in agreement, "Right, for example, there’s this sister from my hometown, who had a lovely relationship with her teammate when they were young, but it turned around completely, and now it’s just tragic."
Yang Qing wanted to ask about this tragedy, but her head hurt too much, so she had to give up.
"I want to go home."
Yi Chichi and Ji Jian looked at each other, then at her head.
"Seems like you might not be able to go home?!"
Speaking of which, Yi Chichi remembered a question, "Do you have a concussion?"
"Yes."
She nodded slightly, "Zhang Xin said I fell pretty hard, with a mild concussion."
"Then you should follow the doctor’s advice."
If the doctor doesn’t allow going home, then better stay quietly at the infirmary.
"I’m getting an IV."
Almost as soon as she spoke, Zhang Xin came in holding an IV drip and infusion kit.
Yang Qing sat up quickly, instantly clutched her head in pain, and lay back down. Yi Chichi and the others were startled, quickly telling her not to move.
Zhang Xin scolded her impolitely, "You’re an injured patient now; can you take it easy?"
Yang Qing looked at Zhang Xin tying the tourniquet with a gloomy face, "I thought I wouldn’t need an infusion."
"Technically, most concussion patients don’t need an IV, but your situation is different. The head injury bled so much."
Yang Qing just sighed, "An unexpected disaster."
Yi Chichi, "...Actually, not really. It’s mainly about you misjudging your stamina and physical condition."
Old folks are a formidable group.
Especially in this scarce-resources era, the combat power unleashed just to let their families eat a bit of meat is terrifying.
If you go late for pork, it’s all gone, and for rare meat like beef, it’s even worse.
After all, the quicker you are, the more you get; being slow gets you nothing.
Human genes cannot resist the allure of meat, especially in oil-starved conditions.
Yang Qing rolled her eyes, "Chichi, I’m injured right now; couldn’t you say something nice to appease me instead of stabbing me with your words?"
"Would be good for you to learn from this."
Ji Jian chimed in, smiling as she asked, "Will you snatch again next time?"
"No, I’m afraid to go through that again."
As they spoke, Zhang Xin finished the IV insertion, flicked the infusion tube, and advised, "Call me when it’s almost done."
"Okay."
Zhang Xin was busy, leaving after setting up Yang Qing’s IV, leaving Yi Chichi and Ji Jian to accompany her.
Other family members came in gradually, and once the IV was done, the two bid farewell and left.
Midway, Yi Chichi hesitated, "I want to go check out the vegetable station."
Ji Jian paused, puzzled, "Why the vegetable station?"
"I feel like the beef offal might not have sold out."
Ji Jian was briefly baffled, then understood her meaning.
"You want to buy beef heart and lungs?"
"No, I want to buy beef tripe."
