Educated Youth in the Countryside: She is the Village's Embroidery Queen!-Chapter 287: Don’t Be Stubborn
This is indeed a problem.
But for Jiang Xingxing, it’s not a problem at all. Her dad has connections.
Yi Chichi softly hinted, "Your dad can help you find a reliable teacher."
Jiang Xingxing’s eyes widened sharply, "Is that possible?"
"You’ll only know if you try."
"I’m afraid I’ll get scolded if I try."
She replied naturally, leaving Yi Chichi speechless. Not wanting to play the role of a caring sister slowly prompting her, she directly threatened, "If you don’t try the mechanical path, you’ll never have hope in this life. You can only learn embroidery with me..."
"I’ll try!"
The moment the word "embroidery" came out, Jiang Xingxing jumped up as if she’d seen a ghost, interrupting her with a look of terror, "I can’t even sew a button properly. Asking me to embroider would be like asking me to slash my own throat with a knife."
That’s just too cruel.
Sitting in front of a frame trying to embroider a complete pattern stitch by stitch, her hands would be perforated and it would still be hopeless.
It’s too challenging for her.
"I’m going to find my father right now."
This couldn’t be delayed any longer, or she was worried something unexpected might happen.
Yi Chichi found it feasible and sent her off with a smile.
Before leaving, Jiang Xingxing solemnly said, "Sis, I’ll let you know the results after I’ve talked to him."
Is this like buying a melon and getting post-sales service?
Yi Chichi, absolutely not expecting such a good thing, was overjoyed and nodded eagerly in agreement, "Remember, stay calm, and don’t start kicking off too soon with few words said."
Jiang Xingxing was at a loss for words, paused for two seconds, and agreed.
Then she left, as if preparing for battle.
Watching her leave, Yi Chichi turned around and went back inside to continue with her work.
She had just embroidered two threads when Ji Jian and Yang Qing arrived hand in hand.
"Chichi, get the basin out."
Their voices came before them.
Yi Chichi came out of the room, and Yang Qing entered holding a bucket in each hand, with Ji Jian slowly following behind while supporting her waist.
"Went shellfishing?"
She casually took a basin off the shelf and handed it over. Yang Qing nodded and poured half a bucket of mantis shrimps and scallops into the basin.
Yi Chichi’s face was one of shock, "Did you find a nest of mantis shrimps and scallops?"
"Just got lucky."
Ji Jian pulled out a chair and sat down, her face lighting up with a bright smile, "We didn’t even go far, and we picked up so many, others got even more."
"Why all mantis shrimps and scallops?"
"Couldn’t compete for the others."
Yang Qing spoke bluntly, "No one wanted these two, and Ms. Ji is pregnant, so I didn’t dare leave her alone."
That’s true.
Shellfishing isn’t particularly dangerous as long as you understand the tides and don’t go too deep, generally, safety isn’t an issue.
But Ji Jian’s situation is different. As a pregnant woman, she really can’t be left without someone nearby.
Looking at the lively mantis shrimps and scallops in the basin, she said gleefully, "Thanks to you, we can have an extra treat tonight."
Ji Jian rolled her eyes, "You make it sound like Mr. Wen is being harsh on you."
Who’s as lucky as her in the whole family area?
No housework needed, clothes get washed, meals get cooked.
When Wen Shi isn’t home, she’d rather eat at the canteen than cook for herself.
Honestly, it’s no wonder others feel jealous of her.
Sometimes, even she feels envious.
Fortunately, her husband Old Lin, whether stimulated by Wen Shi or finally getting thoughtful, has changed quite a lot.
Previously, when he came home, he wouldn’t even lift a finger if an oil bottle fell.
Cooking? Impossible. Sitting back with his legs crossed, smoking, and waiting for meals was the norm.
Now, he cleans up the house, tidies the garden, then goes and cooks.
Even helps her wash her feet.
Recalling her days before Yi Chichi arrived and comparing them to after she came, Ji Jian suddenly said, "Chichi, why not just stay this time?"
"... I don’t have such plans."
It’s definitely not possible to reside with the troops permanently right now; that has to wait until after the old man and others are rehabilitated back in Beijing.
Seeing Ji Jian’s face turn to disappointment, she curiously asked, "Sis, why do you want me to stay?"
"You make Vice Commander Wen really diligent."
Ji Jian hadn’t even started speaking when Yang Qing began chattering, "When he’s diligent, we use him as an example to educate our husbands, so for peace and quiet, Old Huang and the others have to behave well."
With that, she added with a grin, "It’s great when you’re here, it makes things easier for us all."
Yi Chichi didn’t expect that her and Wen Shi’s daily dynamics could serve as an educational impact on the husbands in the family area.
"That’s quite good."
It is indeed good.
It’s just that, once Yi Chichi leaves, it’s highly likely Wen Shi won’t come back, so without the comparison, Old Huang and the others might revert back to their old ways.
Thinking about it is rather vexing.
But there’s nothing to be done; they can’t forcibly keep Yi Chichi here.
Yet Yang Qing was still unwilling and asked again, "When exactly will you come and live with the troops?"
"Soon."
Yi Chichi couldn’t possibly tell them the exact time, so she merely glossed over it.
The two of them made a sound of acknowledgment, chatted a bit more with her, and then took the remaining scallops and mantis shrimps home.
It’s getting late; time to start preparing dinner.
After sending them off, Yi Chichi glanced at the mantis shrimps and scallops in the basin, pondered for a moment, and carried the basin to the kitchen.
A little after six, Wen Shi and the others got off work and headed home. As soon as he reached the doorstep, he smelled a rich aroma.
Lin Qiu Ping smelled it too and was shocked, "Old Wen, your wife looks like she cooked today."
From the smell, it couldn’t have come from his place, nor could it be from Old Qi’s home.
Their wives just didn’t have the talent.
Their cooking tasted okay, but to say it was delicious and fragrant — that it was not.
Wen Shi just nodded, "Most likely."
His wife didn’t listen; he’d told her her hands were precious, yet she couldn’t help but cook.
Hopefully, she didn’t rough herself up.
Thinking of this, he anxiously said, "I’ll go check on my wife’s hand."
Before the words were fully out, he was already dashing inside.
Lin Qiu Ping and the others, "..."
"I think I misheard; did he say he’d go check on his wife’s what?"
Old Qi dug at his ear skeptically.
"You didn’t mishear; he indeed said he’d check on his wife’s hand."
Old Chen dug at his ear, assuring Old Qi’s hearing was perfectly fine.
Lin Qiu Ping hesitated, "Why not check on the person?"
Who knows.
Sometimes, they really couldn’t understand Old Wen’s mind.
Meanwhile, Wen Shi had already reached the kitchen.
Right then, Yi Chichi had just lifted the pot lid, getting ready to take out the steamed scallops.
As the steam rose, just as she reached out, her waist suddenly tightened.
"Let me do it."
Yi Chichi was startled and found herself being pulled aside by Wen Shi.
Then, he reached out, took the scallops from the pot, and placed them on the table, casting a serious glance at Yi Chichi.
"What’s up?"
The way he was staring was too intense; Yi Chichi felt a bit muddled, thinking she might have done something wrong.
Seeing her like that, Wen Shi helplessly said, "Didn’t I say you don’t need to cook?"
