Educated Youth in the Countryside: She is the Village's Embroidery Queen!-Chapter 251: It’s a Life After All
Seeing they had textbooks, Yi Chichi’s attention immediately shifted.
She stared at the two like a spotlight for a while, then with a gossiping look asked, "Are you two together?"
Wang Nan and Bai Chen exchanged a glance and shook their heads in unison.
"Wang Zhiqing hasn’t agreed yet."
"I need to think about it a bit longer." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Guessing it was a bit awkward or embarrassing, Wang Nan blushed and hauled Bai Chen up, "Chichi, we’re heading back first, we’ll come find you to play next time."
Without waiting for Yi Chichi to respond, she dragged him out.
Bai Chen stumbled slightly as she pulled him, but still cooperatively followed her lead, not forgetting to wave goodbye to Yi Chichi and the others.
"Mr. Yi, Auntie, Xiao Jiu, we’re leaving now, see you next time!"
Wen’s mother warmly invited them to come play again next time. As soon as they left, she came over like discovering a new continent and asked her, "Can those two become a couple?"
"...Most likely, yes."
It’s hard to say specifically, depending on how Wang Nan responds.
But based on Yi Chichi’s understanding of her, the likelihood of agreeing is very high.
Wen’s mother sighed, feeling the two were actually quite a good match.
"Hope they both have a good future."
"They will."
Checking the time, realizing it was already past eight, Yi Chichi looked at Qin Jiu, "Do you want to take a bath today?"
Qin Jiu’s eyes suddenly widened; bathing in snowy weather, does Auntie not feel cold?
"I won’t."
He quickly waved his hand to refuse, "Too cold, I’ll wait until it’s warmer."
"Then go wash your face and feet."
That could be done.
He slid off the bed, and Wen’s mother handed her hand over, "Come on, Grandma will get water for you."
"Thank you, Grandma."
Qin Jiu politely thanked, then held Wen’s mother’s hand and left the room.
At exactly nine at night, after tidying up and finishing personal hygiene, Yi Chichi sat in the chair, did a half-hour hand care, practiced her gaze, and only then lay on the bed and slipped into a sweet dreamless sleep.
After a good night’s sleep, she got up to find there was quite a commotion coming from the main room. Coming out from the room, Qin Jiu was squatting in front of Da Li playing a hand-clapping game with it.
"Wrong, it should be the left hand."
Da Li listened but didn’t understand, stubbornly raising its right paw to clap with him.
Qin Jiu looked helpless, manually grabbed its left paw and clapped it, "It’s this paw."
With its fur face full of a look of resignation, Da Li looked, making Yi Chichi laugh heartily. She came over and stroked it, "Why are you at home today?"
"Bringing the kitten here."
Holding two hot water bottles, Wen’s mother said cheerfully.
Just then, a delicate meowing sound came as if responding to Wen’s mother’s words.
Da Li dashed towards Qin Jiu’s room, and Yi Chichi quickly followed, was the kitten put in Xiao Jiu’s room?
"Auntie, the little yellow kitten, very pretty."
Qin Jiu bounced alongside her, praising the pretty kitten.
Yi Chichi knew upon hearing he liked it, wanted it, and upon entering the room indeed saw a very pretty ginger kitten.
It was plump, with a loud and powerful little voice.
As Da Li approached, the little ginger cat’s tiny head nuzzled its belly, clearly hungry for food.
Da Li lay on the bed, letting the kitten fuss around its stomach, while its round eyes watched Yi Chichi, with its fur face emotionless, yet Yi Chichi somehow saw resignation and plea in its eyes.
Seeing her not moving, Da Li meowed at her.
Yi Chichi sighed, male cat has no milk, Da Li bringing the kitten to their home had a simple purpose: for them to raise it.
"You comfort it first, I’ll go get it something to eat."
Speaking, she picked up the kitten, checked it, and found its fur clean without flea dirt or the like, with blue membranes still on its eyes, clearly a kitten that’s not yet a month old and needs milk.
This tiny kitten can’t have cow’s milk, it would cause diarrhea, and they couldn’t get cow’s milk anyway.
Goat milk wasn’t hard to get, though, as there was a nanny goat in the shed still nursing.
She could go ask Uncle Ma for a bowl.
Da Li seemed to understand, pinning the kitten down to start bathing it, as Yi Chichi greeted Wen’s mother and then ran to find Ma Yong for a bowl of goat’s milk.
"This stuff is horribly gamey, how do you drink it?"
Thinking it was for herself, Ma Yong grumbled.
Yi Chichi explained the situation, Ma Yong suddenly realized, "Oh, it’s for feeding a cat, but where did the kitten come from?"
"No idea, I woke up and the kitten was there."
Da Li was worried the kitten would be cold and placed it on the bed. Luckily, it was a newborn, very clean, no signs of fleas spotted.
Otherwise, she’d have to go to the clinic for flea medication and the like.
"Hurry up and feed it so it doesn’t starve to death."
Da Li wasn’t a good-temper cat, and held grudges, if the kitten starved to death, he worried Yi Chichi’s face might get scratched.
"Thanks, Uncle."
Yi Chichi took the bowl and put it in the feeding box, also arranging for more goat’s milk the day after tomorrow.
Returning home, she found the ginger kitten was happily drinking rice soup, face all covered.
Wen’s mother and Qin Jiu stood on each side of the bed like door gods, eyes unblinkingly watching the kitten drink rice soup.
Hearing footsteps, without turning, one said she’s back, the other said the kitten is eating.
Yi Chichi looked at the feeding box in her hand and at the kitten joyfully drinking rice soup, sighing, she went to the kitchen to slightly heat up the goat’s milk, then returned to the room to switch it for the rice soup.
The taste of goat’s milk was different from rice soup, suddenly being switched, the little kitten paused, pulling its tiny delicate voice to meow.
Da Li sipped some goat’s milk, then patted the kitten’s head with its paw, and the kitten began happily drinking the goat’s milk, now with its face all covered as well.
Wen’s mother laughed, "Good appetite, it should be able to survive."
"Keep it warm, drink goat’s milk for a few more days and it shouldn’t be a problem."
Local cats and dogs of the Flower Kingdom have very strong vitality, are smart too, plus with Da Li watching, if they put in some effort to take care of it, and still can’t raise it, then there’s truly no hope.
But—
"Xiao Jiu, do you want to live in the same room with the kitten?"
"I don’t mind."
Qin Jiu’s eyes glistened as he watched the kitten drinking milk, worried Yi Chichi might not agree to him living with the kitten, he turned around, eagerly looking at her, "Auntie, can you let it stay?"
"Sure!" After all, it’s a life, why not.
"But let me make it clear first, you have to clean its litter."
"It won’t go to the bathroom by itself?"
Theoretically it could, even if it can’t, Da Li could teach it, but the crucial point is that now it’s winter, such a cold day for such a small kitten to go out to use the bathroom might freeze it to death.
"Just clean it for now, once it gets bigger and healthier, let it use the backyard."
"Okay, Auntie, I’ll clean for it."
Thus, Yi Chichi used coal cinders and sawdust to make a litter box for it, and found a roughly-sized piece of scrap cloth to make a cloth for it, instructing Qin Jiu to remember to wipe the kitten’s paws after it uses the bathroom each time.
