Chapter 323: Monster In Human Skin

Chapter 323

Ronan crossed his dual blades in front of him and spoke two words. His tone was deadly calm, almost monotone.

"Let’s roll."

The faces of the Norua monsters went pale.

That was exactly what he had said when the slaughter first began minutes ago. He had appeared in their plane without warning, looked at them once, and drawn his blades. At first, the Norua did not take him seriously. A lone human. They planned to torture him, break his spirit, drill fear into his bones, then end his life while laughing.

Things did not go as planned.

The moment the battle started, they realized they were not fighting a human.

They were fighting a monster.

Every strike took a life. Clean. Precise. Final. The worst part was how he moved. Like a leaf dancing through a storm. His speed was insane, each motion graceful and wasted nothing. He was fast, far too fast.

Still, the Norua were not mindless beasts. They adapted. Speed for speed was suicide, so they changed tactics. They would corner him. Overwhelm him. Finish him.

The idea of torture vanished the moment bodies started dropping.

For a few fleeting seconds, it worked. They thought they had him pinned. They were already planning how to end the slaughtering maniac tearing through them like toys.

Then the intruder smiled.

It was a full smile, but it never reached his eyes. Even so, it sent a chill through every Norua spine.

Reality seemed to shift.

Ronan vanished.

In his place stood a Norua.

They did not even have time to register what happened before the slaughter resumed. He flickered from one body to another, ripping through their ranks as confusion exploded. They did not understand what was happening or why.

They only knew they were dying.

Just as extinction loomed, two figures descended from above. They crashed into Ronan, sending him flying through the air and slamming him into a massive Norua monument.

Relief spread through the crowd.

Their twin leaders had arrived.

Each bore three wings. The strongest beings in the plane. Figures who rarely showed themselves. Now they were here. The intruder was doomed.

Or so they thought.

Ronan fought both leaders head on for long, brutal minutes.

Now, back in the present, one of the twins staggered, struggling to contain a fatal wound. Blood poured from a massive gash that nearly split him in two.

"Are you alright?" the second leader asked, reaching for him.

The response was a scoff. "Do I look alright to you?"

A scream tore from his throat as his condition worsened.

"We should do it," the second leader said grimly.

"No," the wounded one snapped. "We’re too close."

"If you don’t treat that wound, you will fall," his twin growled, striking his head hard enough to force sense into him. He pointed at Ronan, who had already crossed his blades again, ready to strike. "If you die, I fall next. And when we fall, our people follow."

Silence.

Then the wounded leader nodded.

"...Alright," he said, standing straight despite the pain. "Let’s do it."

Ronan was already close to launching when he paused, one eyebrow lifting.

"...Wait. What are those two doing?"

The two Norua leaders moved toward each other.

Then they kissed.

Ronan’s eye twitched.

Disgust flashed through him, sharp and honest. If he was seeing this right, they were both male. Gay monsters too? The thought surfaced uninvited, oddly amusing for half a second.

Then everything changed.

The twins’ green bodies began to glow. Brighter. Hotter. Their wings stretched wide, tearing through the air. Even the injured one, his half ruined wing trembling, forced it open and rose.

They climbed higher into the sky.

And then their bodies burned.

The light became overwhelming, terrifying. From the ground, they looked like a miniature green sun hanging in the heavens.

Ronan watched, expression flat, hands twitching.

What are they planning?

His instincts had sharpened after Magus. After surviving that deadly black portal. He lacked an Analyzer Eye, no neat skill to break things down, but instinct alone told him enough.

That thing was dangerous.

He sighed.

Why were Red class portal bosses always such a pain?

The green sun began to peel apart.

Flames unraveled, revealing a figure within.

A Norua.

Yet not.

Its green skin glistened under the light, controlled emerald flames crawling across its body like living serpents bound by will alone. The pressure around it multiplied in seconds, crushing the air, making the world itself feel like it was bowing.

But the most striking part was the wings.

Four of them.

Dark. Smooth. Moving with slow, dominating elegance.

Perfection.

A god sculpted in Norua flesh.

The fused being turned its gaze on Ronan.

No fear met it.

No awe.

Just blank indifference.

That was what snapped something inside the newly ascended lord.

"You," it thundered. "Kneel. Offer yourself as my slave, and I may spare your worthless life. Refuse, and you die here and now."

Its aura crushed everything beneath it.

Ronan tilted his head slightly. His purple eyes glowed.

"Sorry to say this," he said calmly. "You are not qualified to threaten me."

The fused lord descended.

Too fast.

It appeared right in front of Ronan, green flames screaming as a punch surged toward his face.

Ronan raised an eyebrow.

Then he vanished.

In his place stood a Norua.

The creature did not even have time to scream.

Green flames swallowed it whole. Its existence was erased in an instant, consumed by its own lord’s power.

When the smoke cleared, nothing remained.

Ronan stood calmly among the Norua ranks. None dared move.

"Oh," he said softly, almost amused. "You really seems to have grown much stronger in your fused state."

To be continued....
