Chapter 301

"No more time to talk. They will be attacking soon," Han said.

"Ifrit. Thunderwrath. Terragon."

The moment the words left his mouth, the world answered.

A roaring inferno exploded into life, heat rising so fast the air warped. A massive bolt of lightning cracked down like divine punishment, shaking the ground. Then the earth split open a few meters away. Some of the Knull fell into the abyss, screaming as they vanished.

A soft yellow glow pulsed from the fissure. A towering figure rose from below, clad in thick earth armor. Two deep golden eyes stared out from the helmet’s visor. The ground itself seemed to bow to its presence.

The inferno calmed and unfurled, floating in midair with a mix of pride and disdain. Ifrit, the spirit of fire, scanned the Knull circling them and scoffed. He crossed his arms as if none of them were worth a flick of his flame. Han’s face twitched. Same spirit, same attitude. Prideful menace to the end.

The lightning bolt condensed and coiled into the body of a large silver dragon. Not as huge as Terragon, but still imposing. Thunderwrath lifted his head, scanned the battlefield, and burst into manic laughter.

"Well, well, well. Now this is what I call a party," he growled, trembling with anticipation.

"You will get to unleash yourself soon," Han said with a faint smile. His blue eyes glowed. Five clones burst into existence.

"This is an order. Hold nothing back. Kill every last one of them. The faster we move, the better."

Han blurred forward, already in front of a Knull.

"Fourteenth Jungle Art. Tiger Punch. Flame style."

The strike was too fast, too precise. The monster didn’t even have time to blink before its head spun off its shoulders. Han’s clones and his spirits launched in immediately, tearing into the horde with wild force.

The battlefield erupted into pure chaos.

Elexa and the others watched Han go completely unrestrained. If they thought he was a freak before, now they knew he was beyond that. King of freaks. No, lord of freaks fit better.

They had no luxury to stare. No matter how much devastation Han and his spirits unleashed, the Knull kept coming. None of them were S-rankers by accident.

Lightning crackled around Elexa. It surged violently, then her whole body dispersed into streaks of lightning. She went all out from the start. No restraint. Volt Avatar at full power. Holding back now meant death.

The others followed with the same resolve. Ronan. Aiden. Little One. Balor. Silver Wing. Clara. The rest of the squad. All of them pushed their abilities to the breaking point. The entire field lit up with violent colors and raw destruction.

The deafening battle shook the ground so fiercely that even the boss base felt it.

Inside the boss chamber, the darkness was absolute. No light reached inside. The boss, who had been sitting silently for a very long time, tilted its head slightly.

Its eyes opened.

Four glowing red eyes.

Outside, the battle turned brutal, loud, and merciless. None of the heroes dared hold back. They couldn’t afford a mistake. They knew exactly what was at stake.

Any stupid slip up and they would be dead for sure. The enemies before them were unlike anything they had ever faced, both figuratively and literally. The Knulls were strong, fast, and terrifyingly skilled in hand to hand combat.

They were S rankers by nature, each one capable of giving even seasoned S rankers serious trouble. None of them were easy to deal with.

What made the battle barely manageable was the fact that the Knulls had no special skills or powers to make them even deadlier than they already were. The heroes were not the same though. They had abilities that bent the battlefield and they were unleashing everything.

Han shot into the sky. His gaze locked onto clusters of Knull. He opened his hands wide. Small infernos sparked to life around him. They grew larger and larger until they became massive vortexes of flame promising nothing but destruction.

Han’s eyes were cold as he brought them down. The explosions hit with deafening force. Flames crashed into the Knull ranks and killed several caught dead center.

Their bodies were tough. The fire alone was not enough to kill them all. Han’s clones rushed in to finish the job.

"First Jungle Art, Wolf Clutch."

One of Han’s clones appeared beside a Knull and grabbed it instantly. The monster was lifted high into the sky and slammed into the ground with bone shattering force. Its yellow eyes dimmed for a second before a lightning infused punch crushed its skull clean through.

"Fourteenth Jungle Art, Tiger Punch, lightning style."

Another Knull dropped with a heavy thud.

Han’s clones fought with everything they had. Each one carried powerful items and skills. Each one moved like a war incarnation. Sharing one mind with Han and with each other made them a terrifying unit. By their blades and their fists more Knull fell by the minute.

They were not the only ones fighting at that level.

Aiden pressed his glowing palm to the ground. The earth shuddered violently. A deep crack opened and thick vines surged upward, wrapping around him. A cocoon formed and sealed him inside. Moments later it burst apart, revealing Aiden in his Mighty King Warrior Vine Avatar form.

He could have chosen Tailed Beast Mode, but with the situation they were in this was the better call. Emerald Vine Mode gave him incredible vitality, monstrous defense, and overwhelming offense. It also let him protect his allies on all sides.

"Time to get rid of more of them," he said.

He stretched his hands wide. The vines followed his movement, flowing naturally into his grip and shaping into a massive greatblade. Aiden smiled inside the avatar’s head and whispered to himself.

"It seems I am already getting infected by the others madness. Why am I feeling thrilled when I know I might very well die here."

With that said he attacked, vicious and tactical, carving through the battlefield with controlled brutality.

But that was not everything Aiden was doing with the vines. He was covering his allies backs and guarding their rear and formation.

Ronan was not in the formation. No one could tell where he was. All they ever saw was a flash of purple, a growl of pain, and a Knull collapsing. Sometimes it took more than one strike, but Ronan always finished the job. If one hit from his dread blade was not enough he struck twice. If twice was not enough he struck three times.

With that mindset and his switched skill, he became a maniac on the field. A destroyer. More Knull fell to his blade with every passing minute.

On another part of the battlefield a lone fighter moved with unmatched martial arts and swirling qi. Jay was not leaving anything untouched. He fought with everything he had.

Deep down he knew that once this war ended he would either die inside this portal or end up bedridden for using Lion Roar multiple times in a single day.

Out of all the Jungle Arts, Lion Roar had the greatest limit. Everyone knew it was a one use per day technique. Jay learned through painful trial and error that he was different. He could use it more than once, but that did not mean he should. If he had another choice he would avoid using it entirely. One use only caused a bit of strain.

Barely noticeable. Multiple uses stacked pain and pressure until the body was close to breaking. He had tested it. He had used it twice once before and ended up bedridden for weeks.

If he survived this battle and returned to Earth he was sure the consequences would be worse. Even then Jay did not think much about it. He was satisfied that he could unleash himself fully in this fight with no restraint. The battle thrilled him. The danger thrilled him.

Jay kept fighting the Knull. Their strength, speed, and tough hide made them hard to put down. He only managed to kill one after a few minutes, then another and another. He stayed focused. Getting lost in the thrill was the fastest way to die. Jay was not ready to die. Not yet.

Inside the formation, Silver Wing and Han’s clones were the main fighters. Clara supported from the side. With her sharp mind she found weaknesses the group could exploit, and they followed every suggestion. Killing the Knull became a bit easier as time went by.

Little One was one of their biggest advantages. His small size made him the perfect scout in this chaos. He slipped through the battlefield, searching for the exact location of the boss.

Once he found it he would contact Han, Han would teleport to him, and they would end the fight there. At least that was how things were supposed to go.

Balor acted as an assassin, weaving in and out of the void, striking only when the chance to kill was absolute. Even he had to move cautiously. The space here was different. Far more chaotic than Earth.

Han watched the battle unfold with a calm face, but his mind was anything but calm. Not even close.

Even with all of this. Even with all our planning and power and efficiency. Then why do I feel like we are only delaying the inevitable.

Why do I feel like we are all still going to die at the end of the day.
