Thanks to the slight elevation, Uriel was now able to see the full scene in front of him. There he saw what seemed to be thousands of cryptids engaged in a chaotic fray against each other, with only a few humans stranded in the midst of the fight.

Some were injured, others looked confused and walked aimlessly in the battlefield while others lent their support to chitinous creatures and oddly shaped therianthropes.

At a distance, he glimpsed a group of people wearing what he recognized as the same kind of hat his crew wore as a symbol. They too were participating on the skirmish, only they weren't actively hunting for enemies and simply stood their ground to anything that came too close.

Without paying any mind to the fearsome creatures fighting each other, Uriel managed to slide past them without so much as a scratch on him. The strange thing was that he noticed how some of the cryptids didn't even react to his presence, while others attempted futilely to catch him on the way.

"Nice timing, boss!" Shouted Phlox as she grabbed a tier 2 battery to recharge her rifle, only to have it quickly snatched by Uriel who immediately activated it to charge his smartphone. After stealing some of the horror level skinwalker's life essence his energy was looking pretty good, but he figured a little extra wouldn't hurt.

"What's going on?"

"Cryptids, lots of them. They're trying to get to Hunter, Miss Medusa is with him."

"Hunter!? Why did you bring him along the wilderness? That's like walking with a target on your backs!"

"I'm not the one making decisions, boss. I'm just here to shoot some enemies down and provide support." Phlox replied without even bothering to hide her displease at the idea of walking around the barrenlands with a holy rank hunter in tow.

Their conversation was cut short when a strange gray reptilian quadruped creature pounced at Uriel, but it was taken down by gunfire causing the creature to fall limp on the ground and start vanishing within seconds.

Uriel turned to thank at the hunters who took the time to save him, but instead of finding the hunter he expected there stood a lumbering anthropomorphic creature made of wood scoffed at him.

"What the hell are you doing standing there like an idiot! We're under attack, if you don't pull your weight we're leaving you behind like the others." The tree like creature barked, then continued on his way along with his group of armed aberrant creatures, each one armed with firearms.

"Alright, I guess..." Uriel replied a bit shaken by the creature's hostile attitude then he took a gaze at Phlox expecting an answer, but she was already busy firing her rifle. Trying to follow her example, Uriel then grabbed his gun and prepared himself to open fire, only he couldn't find a target. Amidst the myriad of unknown creatures, Uriel found himself unable to discern who the enemy was.

His first instinct was to point his magnum at the ugliest and nastiest creature he could find in the battlefield, a small green creature that resembled the pigmies he had previously encountered, only to be met with an even uglier frown.

"Watch were you aim that thing, you idiot!" The green creature spoke between pointed fangs and a snotty nose. It really looked disgusting in every sense, but it was clearly not an enemy.

His next idea was to fire at the things that least resembled a human, only to be met with a similar result when the snake he was pointing at turned back and showed its top half was that of a human woman. It wasn't that Uriel cared about her gender, but it became evident since she was bare chested.

"I'm on your side!" The half-snake half-woman creature hissed in fear when she noticed Uriel was pointing a gun at her. Despite her reptilian eyes and powerful appearance, her face showed how scared she was of combat.

"Screw this! How can I fight if I can't tell who our allies are?" Uriel growled, feeling tempted to simply fire at anything that moved and be done with it.

"Ah! You're one of the guys we met along the way on the abyss! Listen, If it attacks you it's fair game. Since you're a human, only a cryptid would target you." The snake-like woman explained, scanning her surroundings to make sure nothing came near her.

"It shows that you're out of your element here, why don't you join my friends over here? They'll keep you safe. Before that, though, would you mind telling me what exactly are you?"

"Wow! Thanks! I'm glad you noticed I'm not a fighter, most people assume that since I look scary I must be strong, but truth is we nagas don't have much to defend ourselves other than our tails and I don't even have a trait! If only I had a rifle or something..." The naga complained and then took upon Uriel's offer to join his group.

Uriel signaled Phlox to let her pass and the few remaining Dungeon Raiders broke their formation for just enough time to let them both inside and giving them the time to speak without the need to fight the incoming enemies.

"Do you know what is going on? You mentioned you're a hybrid, are the others like you too?"

"Yes, most of us are. I don't know much, but I'll tell you what I know. Those filthy human purists, I don't know what they call themselves these days, they tried to pull something inside the dungeon and drove us away. We were on our way outside the dungeon following the path one of our kin found when we met another group of hunters also trying to find their way out."

"I see... that's when you stumbled upon Jon Hunter and he followed you against your will. He's a selfish jerk after all." Uriel nodded.

"Actually, Mr. Hunter is Mr. Alessandro's guest. He took him under his protection, but because of his powerful energy signature every cryptid in the barrenlands is coming after us. Some of us are trying to convince Mr. Alessandro to leave the holy rank hunter behind, but I don't think that's the solution...

maybe if we run to the dungeon we might make it alive, we could perhaps find another place to live there, but they're insisting on going back to what's left of the city."

"That's probably the right call. Of the three worlds, the only one safe enough to be inhabited is the second one." Uriel said out loud, as he tried to make sense of the situation.

"This is not the time, go help Medusa, she needs you. If what she says is true, then it might not be long until those who want to leave Jon Hunter behind take action and what do you think she would do if they try to abandon her uncle?" Phlox intervened and Uriel didn't need to be told a second time. If Medusa was in danger, he would drop everything and go to help her.

The problem was that finding her in the middle of that discordant fight was nearly impossible. He attempted to use his mystical sense to find her, but found himself enshrouded by so many different energy signatures it was impossible to tell one from the other.

However, the most dense flux signature present in the battlefield came from a particular direction and Uriel quickly understood it was Jon Hunter. Finding him would also mean finding Medusa, so he darted across the battlefield dodging innumerable projectiles and odd shaped creatures until he reached his destination.

Instead of immediately finding Medusa, though, he was met with a group of creatures making a circle around where she was and another group of creatures trying to break through and Uriel let out a relieved sigh when he noticed the scuffle had yet to become physical. This at least gave him some time to listen to what they were arguing about.

"Let us pass! If we kill him they'll stop coming!" The same wooden creature that saved Uriel shouted.

"We can't do that, we need him." Another plant like creature, only more mature looking and covered in bark, replied in a more peaceful yet also stern voice.

"He's getting us all killed. I know you're afraid of the repercusions with the Mapple corp, but no one has to know. We can just say he died to crytpids! We would even be making him a favor, please!" The wooden creature begged.

"No, this is my final decision." The older creature insisted.

"Fine, have it your way." Instead of fighting, the group of hybrids that had been trying to push past in order to kill the holy rank hunter who acted as a beacon to cryptids retreated carrying a somber expression on his face, like someone whose hand was forced into doing something they really didn't want to do.
