Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 82: Have To Work With Him
Gina Maverick mistook the look in Celine’s eyes to be pleasant surprise and thought she was extremely pleased she had managed to clinch the deal in the renowned Grayson Corp. She smiled proudly trying to keep a humble expression as she said,
"Yes, I wanted it to be a surprise for you. I know you have great visions so I set my sights on Grayson Corp since the moment you let me know that you planned to invest in a huge venture. I did all I could to put in an investment, thankfully a new hidden project emerged in the company this year, you’ll receive the details once you’ve signed. And since you want a working position in the company I’ve negotiated those terms with the company VP and everything is set. Congratulations miss Roberts."
Gina’s voice carried the pride for her work she was beaming and evidently pleased to share the fact that she had been able to acquire shares into Grayson Corp.
Truth was, she actually envied Celine for gaining this opportunity. Thousands vied to get into that company and they would be denied, having investment applications approved was a huge deal hence Gina congratulated her enthusiastically.
Celine was transfixed, it was as if a huge bomb had exploded in her mind. Of all companies her trusted financial manager would pour her investment into, it had to be Grayson Corp, the company whose owner she never wanted to see again, the person who might either resent her or want to take her children away from her.
Celine quickly composed herself and dropped the documents Gina handed her a second ago. "I’m sorry Gina, but I can’t sign this deal."
"What?!" Gina was beyond shocked, anyone would be eager to get into such a reputable company. Even if she didn’t say it in clear detail, it had taken her a lot of trouble to even be able to set up a meeting with an executive from the company who led her to the VP, not to mention how hard she had worked for this. She had put in so much effort not only because Celine was one of her biggest clients, but because she always strived to bring the absolute best to her clients in her work, so how could she suddenly say she didn’t want the deal?
"Miss Roberts, what are you saying? This deal is..."
"I’ve made my decision Gina, I’m not signing this deal." Celine firmly pushed the papers across the table. No matter what she would never sign this deal to work with the father of her children in the same company. She couldn’t afford to be in the same building as him.
"Are you sure about this Miss Roberts? This is the absolute best deal you could ever get."
"I’m absolutely certain." Celine maintained with certainty.
Gina still couldn’t understand this, she expected to be praised, not be rejected. "Do you have any specific reasons you don’t want this deal? If it’s something you’re worried or unsure about it’s my job to stir you in the right direction."
"I do have valid reasons but they’re all personal. Regardless, I do not want to have anything to do with Grayson Corp, is it possible to withdraw the investment since I haven’t signed the documents yet?"
Gina sighed heavily. "I’m afraid that is very difficult, almost close to impossible miss Roberts."
"What?"
"A document is binding with signatures from both parties, however the fact that we’ve mutually agreed to a deal is the most difficult part. Since we had already spoken to the company about placing such a huge investment in the new project and there has been a mutual agreement and fixed company signatures from the company’s VP, the Grayson Corp will definitely sue us for fraud. A company’s signature is a huge thing and backing out could paint us as the bad party only aiming to get their official stamp and signature on documents for fraudulent purposes.
If that happens, we will have to pay an astronomical amount as compensation to the company even double the amount of investment we agreed upon." Gina explained. A deal being formed was one thing, but to break out of it would be the hardest.
To leave an example for others to not come up with something like this again, the legal team of Grayson Corp would do everything in their power to form a court case. There would be so many legal fines and compensations to be paid. It would most definitely double or triple the price promised as investment to Grayson Corp by the time they would be done with the lawsuit which wouldn’t just be a huge loss to Celine herself but would put a huge dent in Gina’s own career reputation.
Celine massaged her temple in frustration, the more she heard, the more she realized it wouldn’t be easy to get out of this as she might have thought. With everything Gina just explained, whether she signed these papers or not, even if she chose to back out of working with Grayson Corp, if it became a court case, Tristan Grayson would inevitably come to know about her.
And to pay more than double her amount of investment, that was almost all her life savings. How would she be able to take care of her children’s future if she had to pay that amount?
Celine wanted to scold Gina for not informing her about the company she had chosen to invest in, but she knew the woman couldn’t be blamed. She trusted Gina with her finances because they went way back, working together for a long time and she always trusted Gina’s judgements and knew the latter had good intentions.
As Gina noticed how frustrated Celine looked, she somewhat felt bad for her. "Well, other than that, there could be another way to get out of this deal but it would take a little bit of time."
Celine’s eyes lit up, Gina’s words showed a ray of hope. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"But you will have to sign the deal first and work with the Grayson Corp for a while." Celine’s hopeful expression fell and Gina quickly continued to explain,
"After six months the contract would have reached the first renewal period, at that time you can choose to sell your investment spot to someone else at double the price if you wish. Believe me, there will be many people willing to even pay triple if Grayson Corp maintains it’s place as number one in the country. When that happens you can leave the company, in that case you won’t be faced with any lawsuits and you might even get profits."
Celine pondered over that suggestion for a while, "For those six months, I would have to work with Grayson Corp...can I choose not to meet or interact with the CEO?"
Gina laughed, "You’re now a major investor but these things are handled by the company’s Vice president, on some occasions you might run into the president at meetings, but to assume you wouldn’t be interacting with him at all would be unrealistic."
Celine felt crestfallen. So she couldn’t entirely avoid him?
This was bad, in fact this was a terrible turn of events.
She knew her goal to go head to head against her father’s enterprise would be a difficult journey, but she had not expected to meet with such a hurdle.
She had vowed not to meet Tristan Grayson ever again, but now with this she would have no choice but to work with him in the same company.
But it was only for six months. She could do it for six months and then leave, there was no harm in it actually, but... throughout that time she would do everything to make sure she kept her children’s existence a secret.
"Alright, I’ll sign the deal."
