Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 24: Stole The Bride
That feeling of disappointment twisted sharp and painfully in her belly.
What else had she been expecting? That he would wait for her and attempt to exchange contacts with her or even try to get to know her?
If she were to be absolutely honest with herself, that was what she wanted deep down. But how could she have allowed herself to want something like that when she was well aware that there had been an agreement between them?
One single night...
A night to be forgotten, nothing more. That night had ended and it was a new day, whatever connections she’d felt, whatever else she might have wanted had just been her. But it was all over now and she would never see him again.
Something tightened and crushed in her chest, her knees suddenly felt too weak to remain standing so she moved to sit on the sofa staring out at the rising sun, a deep solitude sitting heavily in her chest.
She couldn’t tell where this foreign feeling was coming from, but it felt like her heart was breaking.
Tristan was a stranger to her, so he didn’t understand why she was feeling like this because of him.
’Stop being stupid Celine, so many people have one night stands and don’t even end up recalling the names of the person they slept with, it’s all over now so forget it!’ She admonished herself quietly.
"Ding!" The elevator suddenly rang, frightening Celine out of her reverie.
When she tilted her head noticing the elevator doors opening, she instantly sat up gazing in that direction expectantly.
Did he come back?
However even after the doors had opened for a few minutes, no one stepped into the suite. Curiously she walked towards it, and found a paper bag sitting inside the elevator with no one inside.
Before the elevator doors could closeup again, she stuck her hand forward and stopped it from closing then entered to pick up the paper bag wondering what was inside and who could have sent a bag up an elevator just like that.
She soon realized it could have been no one else but Tristan.
Thinking that, Celine quickly opened the bag to check what was inside it.
There was a black shirt and blue jeans which she found out was surprisingly her size, along with a baseball hat and a pair of large dark sunglasses and black face mask. The outfit was perfect for a disguise where if she stepped out, no one would know it was her.
He had prepared this for her so no one would know it was her.
Inside the bag there was a note as well, she didn’t know if he’d been the one to write the note, but it told her that a car was waiting for her at the hotel’s back entrance and that there were still guards within the hotel looking for her.
Celine was surprised, not only did he prepare clothes for her, he also sent a car to drop her off.
’How thoughtful.’ she thought to herself smiling bitterly. Somewhere in her heart, she felt a bit glad.
He hadn’t just turned his back and walked away uncaring of how she would get out of the hotel without being seen. Not only by Ian’s men but lurking paparazzi she knew would be out there waiting like hunters monitoring the jungle for their prey.
Celine stared at the note for a long while even though she had already read every word, the more she looked at it, the more she wished there were more words on the note.
A baseless hope in her heart that she knew shouldn’t be there.
’What are you hoping for, Celine? Maybe he’s used to doing things like these, maybe he’s used to having one night stands and forgetting about them. I’m sure he’s more than happy to finally get rid of the stupid bride who shamelessly threw herself at him.’ Celine slumped on the sofa and berated herself disappointedly.
For her it was the first time doing something as crazy as this, maybe that was why she couldn’t get it out of her head, maybe it was why she was hoping...
But the truth was, last night she had felt something... something between them and she had assumed that he’d felt it too.
’I guess I was wrong.’
But it was fine, and it was much better that they would never meet again. All she needed was a bit of time to clear her head, in a few days time she would forget everything, and she probably wouldn’t even remember a man named Tristan.
She was suddenly glad he wasn’t there by the time she’d come out of the shower, he would have probably thought she was desperate and clingy if he’d seen how she wasn’t able to get over what happened last night.
After composing her thoughts and sitting in silence for a few minutes, she stood up and got dressed, but something else she didn’t seem to notice fell out of the bag, a last item she hadn’t seen a while ago. It was a little box of pills, immediately she read the package she realized what the pills in the box were meant for.
"Contraceptives." She muttered.
Right, she was supposed to take contraceptives, after all last night...there hadn’t been any protection. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She consumed the pill first then went on to pack her bulky wedding dress in the bag before leaving the suite after lingering to stare around the huge suite for a second.
When she turned to leave, she didn’t look back.
As the note had promised, there was a black Range Rover waiting at the back entrance with a strange man standing by the car. Celine wasn’t surprised to find a luxury car waiting for her, from the opulence of the suite she had already guessed Tristan would be someone important but none of it had anything to do with her anymore, she couldn’t be curious about him, couldn’t have the desired to get to know him anymore when she would be having nothing to do with him from this moment on.
She would rather his identity remain a mystery to her.
Perhaps recognizing her to be the person he was supposed to pick up from her attire, the man by the car beckoned her over. Respectfully opening the back door for her without asking any questions.
From the corner of her eyes, through the thick glasses she wore, she spotted two men lurking by the decorative trees by the hotel, they both held cameras ready as If instantly ready to catch something juicy.
Celine’s heart immediately lurched, she could identify a paparazzi at a glance, even if they were in disguise, there was a mannerism to them that she could spot instantly even if the camera hadn’t given them away. Thankfully they were looking elsewhere, not bothering to look in her direction.
With a sigh, she hurried into the car and the man shut the door then rounded to the driver’s seat.
"Hello miss, I was instructed to drop you off wherever you wish to go."
Celine nodded in gratitude, giving the man the address to her penthouse apartment. She needed to go sort her thoughts out first before she would have the courage to face the public, her family or even Ian.
During the drive, she noticed the man driving peeking at her occasionally through the rearview mirror, it caused her to frown and pull her hat down further to keep her face concealed.
Somehow, she trusted Tristan but not anyone else. She feared that anyone could exposed her identity and cause the media to come for her when she wasn’t ready, it was best if she didn’t let anyone else see her face, even this driver.
Kaleb noticed a bit later that the woman in the backseat had curled away, pulling the hat to cover her face fully so he wouldn’t see her, that action made him feel like a creep, he quickly cleared his throat and looked away.
He couldn’t help it, he was just too curious.
The boss had instructed him to go buy her clothes, but then he changed his mind and went to the mall himself.
Kaleb’s eyes had almost bulged out of his skull in shock.
The boss...was shopping for a woman?
And then went on to instruct him to keep the bag in the elevator and keep sending it back up until she takes the bag, luckily she had spotted it the first time.
But the curiosity never died in Kaleb’s mind.
Who was this woman?
Was she one of the president’s casual flings?
He never went shopping for his casual flings, never allowed them to stay in his suite overnight. Heck, he never sent cars for them to drop them off.
It could only mean one thing...this woman was special.
Which heightened Kaleb’s curiosity to see her face even more.
He drove her to an elite apartment complex where she quickly got off and hurried into the complex as if someone was on her tail. Kaleb stared at her retreating back with a sigh.
A pity, he hadn’t even gotten to see her face.
Just when he was about to start the car to drive away, he noticed a bag in the backseat. There seemed to be something big that filled up the bag even expanding it.
"She forgot her bag, guess I’ll have to go give it to her."
He tried to suppress his excitement, but it bled through his voice anyway. It wasn’t his fault she forgot the bag, giving him an opportunity to take it to her which could lead to his curiosity being satisfied...he might finally see her face.
Kaleb opened the back seat and grabbed the bag, but because whatever was stuffed inside was chunky, he saw it immediately.
It was a chunky white mass of fabric that looked like...
"Wait a minute, I’ve seen this before." Kaleb muttered suspiciously, he looked around first as if checking of someone was looking to catch him peeking into the woman’s personal belonging before pulling up the fabric. He was just going to take a look to satisfy his curiosity, but the moment he saw what was actually in the bag, that was when it struck him.
This was a wedding dress...not just any wedding dress, it was the exact one that bride was wearing yesterday at the...
Kaleb gasped before the thought could fully settle in his mind as he glanced up at the entrance of the complex where the woman just entered.
That was yesterday’s runaway bride! She had been in Tristan’s suite all along?
"I’ll be damned, president stole the bride after all."
