Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 151: Congratulations
Arriving inside the office that morning, Celine noticed how weird and excited everyone was behaving. All the company staff were gathered in groups, whispering to themselves.
"Look, they are so cute together! Who knew the president could be so romantic, he arranged a small intimate wedding so he won’t overwhelm her with a lavish event. Though I wish I could have gotten to attend their wedding, of course we have to respect their private intimacy since they want to have only close friends and family members present." She overheard a girl saying.
"I know, it’s so sweet. If I were marrying the richest man in Neville, I’d also want an intimate wedding. What’s the need to show off with a big event when the whole world already knows how lavish my husband is?" Another agreed.
"Erica is so gorgeous though isn’t she? She looks so pretty even after just waking up in the morning."
"Ugh, I envy her. She is so lucky to be getting married to Mr Grayson."
"Read the caption, she sounds so excited for her wedding. I’ll keep up with her posts so I can see more pics from the actual wedding later today."
"Oh my gosh, I can’t wait!"
"Ah, that’s another handsome bachelor off the market. I still can’t believe the great Tristan Grayson is finally settling down with one woman in marriage."
Celine stood transfixed in the same spot, she had long since halted her steps hearing the mention of Tristan’s wedding.
The girl’s gossiping among themselves noticed her at this moment and they all scrambled to arrange themselves. "Good morning miss Roberts." They all echoed.
Celine nodded to their greetings and then asked, "Who did you say was getting married today?"
She had heard, but she couldn’t help but ask again.
"It’s our company’s president, Mr Grayson’s wedding. Look, his fiancee posted some pictures this morning." The girl quickly showed Celine her phone noticing the latter was interested.
There was a picture of Erica and Tristan, both in bed, though it was a short selfie that didn’t show their bodies completely, one could still tell it was a morning after for them. Tristan’s eyes were closed as if he were asleep but it still didn’t take away from the fact that they looked great together, Erica had a big smile on her face and the caption read,
*This is the happiest day of my life! Wedding bells will be sounding in a few hours, can’t wait to be with my baby forever!*
Celine’s expression stiffened a bit, but she gave the girls a small smile after returning the phone back then walked away.
’So he is actually getting married today.’
After witnessing his engagement, Celine knew it would happen sooner or later, she just had never thought that...it would be this soon.
There was no better woman suited to him, Erica was beautiful and elegant in a way that matched Tristan, but why did she feel such a tight ache in her heart seeing those pictures?
Celine listlessly pushed open the door to her office, unconsciously she has ignored the greetings of everyone around her as she couldn’t even hear a single thing when her mind was deeply occupied in her thoughts.
She sat at the chair behind her desk, feeling a stiff tightness in her chest. Everything that had happened between them was indeed a passing dream. He probably didn’t think about her like she did of him, he probably didn’t have memories of her replaying in his mind like a broken record like it did for her, he probably didn’t feel all these strong emotions for her like she did for him.
But now, that realization hurt, it hurt more than she expected because she had been fervently trying to deny the fact that she...
She had fallen in love with him!
Celine shut her eyes as that realization sunk in, she had felt it, she just tried to ignore it, she saw it coming and tried to run from it and avoid it, but it was inevitable because she had probably started falling for him that night five years ago. Maybe even sooner than that, from the moment their eyes met just before she decided to run from forcing herself into marrying Ian Rode.
It was his eyes that caught her heart, the cold, unfeeling, detached pair of eyes that gave her the courage to stand up and run, to flee a wedding she didn’t want.
Why else would she have let that night happen if she hadn’t felt anything for him at all. There had been attraction back then, and it had so strongly captivated her, but then meeting him again now her stupid heart had caved even if she tried to stop it, it caved everytime he held her, it caved that time he took her face in his palms and wiped her tears then spread gentle kisses that reached her heart, her heart had caved...for him.
He said no commitments but she didn’t realize when her heart fell for him, he said no commitments but the fact that he was willing to be committed to someone else broke her heart to pieces.
She had lied to herself and made herself believe she didn’t feel anything for him, she had avoided him and did everything just so she wouldn’t feel this pain, but now she was feeling it and it made her heartbroken to watch him marry another.
Perhaps it was better this way, it would make it easier for her to forget about him completely once he was a married man.
As her thoughts reached here someone suddenly pushed open her office door, Celine quickly swung her head to the side and wiped the stray tears that slid down her face then composed herself.
She knew there was no one else who would barge into her office like that other than Ryan.
"Celine, I came to ask if you’re all prepared for our trip in a few days."
Celine glanced up at him, "I’m sorry Mr Blakewood, I don’t think I’ll be going on this trip."
Knowing the full fact that Tristan would be there she’d rather not go on the trip at all.
"Oh that’s a shame, because I don’t think you have much of a choice here. I’ve already included your name among the list of people to be expected at Rowena islands, you know how the culture is over there, if one person doesn’t show up, it would be considered disrespectful, and you know how important this project is for the company right?"
"Yes, but I..." Celine wanted to protest but he cut her off.
"Oh, why don’t you congratulate me instead, my cousin is getting married today. Frankly I should be there by now, but I just had to share the news with you." He said, a smirk playing on his lips. He looked at her as if waiting to see something on her face.
As he expected, Celine fell silent for a while, she seemed to hide a certain emotion from showing In her eyes before she uttered, "Congratulations."
Ryan let out a small laugh, "It feels good to hear that coming from you. But you should congratulate my cousin instead, I’m sure he’ll be really pleased too. Man, I’ve never seen him this excited about anything before, I guess he’s really happy." Ryan stated studying her expression, the smirk on his face growing deeper but she seemed too lost to notice it. He suddenly added, "I have an idea, you should come with me to the wedding. Though it’s strictly family and friends, you’re a friend too right? Come along as my plus one."
Celine quickly replied, "The trip...I have to start preparing for the trip, please send my congratulations to president Grayson."
Ryan immediately lit up at her words, "Great, I can’t wait." Then left her office afterwards.
Immediately he closed the door behind him, a crafty look surfaced in his eyes.
One way or another he had managed to convince Celine to come along on the trip even if she had grabbed onto it as an excuse not to go to the wedding, and he would make sure he would definitely get her on this trip.
