Chapter 318: Commendable

Lin Feng shook his head. "You get distracted very easily."

It was obvious she was too young to reach a deep state, but it would be better if she could achieve that as her cultivation speed would increase further. "Anyway, it’s time for you to start your battle training. Let’s go."

Mu Yao immediately stood up. "Where are we going?"

"You will understand shortly." Lin Feng enveloped her and Hei Ying and brought her to the mountain where the beasts were living.

"Young master is here again. Are we going to eradicate some humans again?" Blood Fur Bear spoke excitedly as he saw Lin Feng.

Lin Feng shook his head. "Calm down. It’s not something like that. Boa, come with me. We are visiting somewhere."

He wanted to bring one of them together for safety purposes. Both Mu Yao and Hei Ying could attract strong beasts, and Azure Bloom Forest was a place where the chance of that happening was quite high.

The Frost Scale Boa immediately came to their side, and Lin Feng sat on its head along with the others.

"Where are we going, young master?"

"To the beginning of the forest you used to live in."

The Frost Scale Boa immediately sped up in the direction of Azure Bloom Forest.

He was flying slowly as Lin Feng had instructed him to do so.

Mu Yao, as usual, enjoyed the view of the passing landscape. She really liked flying. "Senior brother, when will I be able to fly?"

"Core Formation Realm."

"How long will it take?"

"Given your concentration, definitely not soon enough."

Mu Yao pouted when she heard that. She was intelligent enough to figure out that it was a jibe at her. "I will reach it sooner than your expectation... humph!"

Lin Feng shook his head. "We’ll see."

"There is no need, young mistress. You can always call me to carry you." The Frost Scale Boa didn’t mind them being the mount of Lin Feng and Mu Yao.

"You are the best, senior snake." Mu Yao said excitedly.

After some time, they arrived at the location where Azure Bloom Forest was visible.

"Should I stop here?"

"Yes, wait here." Lin Feng said and opened his spiritual sense to the extreme, seeing through everything in the forest.

The outer area was mostly filled with grade one beasts, and that was perfect. He enveloped Mu Yao and flew inside the forest for about 10,000 meters and finally landed on a tree.

He made Mu Yao land near him and took out a grade 6 talisman. It was a talisman which would mask her so that beasts didn’t feel compulsion to protect her.

The talisman was higher in grade because after one use it would cover her in a faint veil which would last for a month. "Tear it off." He handed her the talisman.

Mu Yao took it curiously and tore it off. Immediately an invisible mist covered her, and she didn’t feel anything.

Lin Feng looked at her. "You have to walk out of this forest."

Mu Yao got stunned when she heard that. She looked around the dense foliage of trees and grass. "Senior brother, this looks scary."

Lin Feng didn’t entertain her further. "Also, once you walk out of the forest," he took out one more talisman and passed it to her. "Tear it, and I will come and pick you. For the time being, I am going back to the sect with Hei Ying."

The moment Lin Feng said that, he vanished.

Mu Yao, who thought that Lin Feng would stay with her all the while, got rooted to the core. "Wha..." She couldn’t believe it. "You are still here, right, senior brother?"

There was no response, and it made Mu Yao tremble on the spot. Small tears were already forming in her eyes, but she controlled herself from crying.

She knew that it was the start of her training, but that wasn’t what she dreaded the most. It was staying alone that she was afraid of. She had gone through it once in her life, and she just didn’t want to ever go through that loneliness again.

She sat down on the branch and curled up for a while before standing up. She climbed down the tree and began walking in the direction to leave the forest.

She wasn’t afraid of beasts as they had never harmed her. She had even lived in a forest for a few months. It was just that this one was denser than the previous one.

That’s how she had met Hei Ying, who was also as lonely as her.

...

Mu Yao walked for a few minutes and now felt totally lost. "Where am I?" She couldn’t even understand from which way she had come.

Rustle!!!

"Hm?" She looked toward a rodent which jumped out from the grass and looked at her.

"Hey—" She wanted to greet it, but seeing that it was baring its teeth at her, she stopped. This wasn’t the type of reaction she was used to. "What’s wrong?"

She was confused. Were the beasts of this forest different? Just as she was thinking, the rodent dashed toward her while baring its teeth.

Mu Yao got too stunned. The speed of the rodent wasn’t fast, but due to her stunned state she wasn’t able to react, and it bit her on her forearm.

"Aaahh..." Mu Yao flicked her hand, and the rodent fell a little far away. Mu Yao looked at her hand, and it was bleeding from the bite.

She understood one thing—she couldn’t trust beasts at least right now. It must have been done by senior brother. So this was her real training. She had to survive the beasts too.

Very well. She wanted to get stronger, and that’s what she had asked for. If she had to endure a little loneliness, then she had to do it.

She looked at the rodent which was again getting ready to attack her, and this time she became ready.

She didn’t want to hurt it, but if it was going to harm her then she couldn’t just stand there and let it do it. She had felt that her strength was stronger than it, so she definitely could fight it. "Forgive me, but you are rude, humph!"

"Squeakk!!"

The rodent growled and dashed toward her again and jumped for her face this time.

Mu Yao was totally able to perceive its movement and punched clumsily. Nonetheless, it hit perfectly on its head.

THUD!

The rodent immediately fell on the spot. It began trembling in pain as its head was almost crushed.

Mu Yao looked at it in a little discomfort. She felt it was her fault since she definitely had the strength to finish it off in one attack, but at the last moment she had held back.

But it seemed her kind intentions only made its life even more miserable. What should she do now? If she left right now, then it would suffer till some other beast ate it. So the best option was to kill it...

She had an inherent dislike for that thought. Beasts had always loved her, so she felt more attached to them in the past than to humans.

She had never killed them before. It was Hei Ying who killed one after they were hungry for a long time since they didn’t find fruits, she has taken some bites of it raw which was not pleasent at all. She took a deep breath. It seemed she had to do it. Not killing it was just miserable for it.

Mu Yao sat down near the rodent and with a hardened heart she moved her hand toward its throat. "Forgive me..."

After speaking, she grabbed its neck and without wasting any time she crushed it.

SNAP!

She immediately backed away after doing it. Tears began swelling again in her eyes, but she didn’t have time to cry. She wanted to leave this forest as quickly as possible.

She stood up and started going in the direction in which she thought was the right one to take her out of the forest.

....

Lin Feng, who was still present in the air, kept an eye on her all the time. The reason he said that he was leaving was to give her a sense of danger she would feel when she was alone.

It was the most important phase to develop battle sense. Battle sense is a sense which helps you to avoid danger, and you can’t develop it if you don’t feel real danger. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

If she was totally aware that he was present here, then she would never feel the desperation which she was going to face here.

Although he had to give in to her—she was really quite a strong-willed girl. He hadn’t felt that she was afraid of being alone in the forest. It was more sadness than fear.

It seemed her life was harder than he had initially thought.

As for her initial hesitation in killing a beast, it was totally expected since she must have been loved by beasts. Nonetheless, the time she took to resolve this conflict was commendable.

"Young master, how long are you going to let her stay in the forest? The way she is going now would only take her deeper into the forest."
