Drawing Cards in the Middle Ages to Rise in Ranks-Chapter 419 - 104: Hunting the Giant Beast
In the depths of the sea, the torpedo-like giant squid advanced like a submarine.
The turbulent currents formed a trail of white foam deep at the sea’s bottom.
The Harpoon Cannon on the Ocean Disaster was about to strike the giant squid.
The squid’s countless tentacles immediately rose, accurately intercepting the two rusty harpoons.
Captain Hog had anticipated this; his pet, the Norwegian Sea Monster Paul, was an even larger deep-sea creature than this giant squid before them,
he knew these tentacled sea monsters well. Because of their many tentacles, their defense was almost impenetrable, but the Harpoon Cannon on the Ocean Disaster was not so easy to handle.
This was a weapon specifically designed to combat oceanic giants.
The two harpoons suddenly turned a deep red, and following that, they transformed into two lifelike giant sharks, which opened their bloody jaws filled with triangular sharp teeth.
The already decayed bodies, under the terrifying pressure of the giant squid’s tentacles, caved in with a crack, yet they felt no pain, relentlessly gnawing at the giant squid’s tentacles.
"Again!"
Captain Hog shouted loudly.
The busy zombie sailors reloaded the harpoons, and as he swung down the rapier in his hand, the two Harpoon Cannons fired again. This time, they were intercepted again, but just as before, two more sea beasts were conjured up.
This time, besides a giant shark, there was also an "old acquaintance" of Losa — covered in black, decaying scales, with a streamlined body like a giant sea snake.
It was the subspecies Sea Dragon whose soul and vitality were once seized by the Ocean Disaster.
The moment the Sea Dragon appeared, the surrounding currents accelerated, pushing away the tentacles the giant squid had swung. With a burst of speed, it burrowed into the giant squid’s embrace, greedily tearing into its tough, muscular flesh.
A flicker of anger crossed the anthropomorphic eyes of the giant squid as its countless tentacles, like a web, ensnared the giant sharks and the Sea Dragon, squeezing with increasing force, intending to crush all its foes into pieces.
Hog didn’t blink an eye; even if these sea beasts died, the Ocean Disaster could reincarnate them. Like the zombie sailors, they were bound by a curse, never to be released or die.
He raised his rapier high: "Now, Ocean Disaster, Charge!"
This is charging?
Yaroslav, newly joined on the Ocean Disaster, was clearly unacquainted with Captain Hog’s style, inclined to question it, but seeing the sailors on the Ocean Disaster laugh loudly, grabbing hold of the ship’s railing, and shouting obscenities,
he could only grab hold of the wooden frame that fixed the Harpoon Cannon beside him, constantly praying to the Heavenly Father that this already decayed Ghost Ship wouldn’t turn into a pile of rotten wood from such a collision.
"Kill that octopus monster!"
"Charge, Ocean Disaster!"
"Faster, even faster, where are the rowers, anyone slacking off will scrub the ship’s bottom for a month!"
The zombie sailors shrieked, the speed of the Ocean Disaster had rapidly reached its peak in the shortest time.
Yaroslav couldn’t see the scarlet ripples emanating from the ramming horn at the ship’s bow, which he had personally installed, resembling the bones or teeth of some sea beast.
Vaguely, a gigantic beast’s phantom engulfed the entire Ghost Ship — from the giant squid’s perspective, this wooden sheathed wreck radiating a thick aura of death momentarily transformed into a colossal whale with a menacing horn and a mouth full of sharp teeth.
That was the natural enemy inscribed deep within the bloodline of even ancient sea beasts with millennia of life.
It thought of fleeing.
Ignoring those burdens nailed to its body, still gnawing despite being battered and torn.
Such highly intelligent sea beasts care nil for so-called dignity; if outmatched, they flee, or if the cost of victory is too great, they flee regardless, feeling no psychological pressure at all.
Yet, even in flight, it did not forget to reach out a tentacle to pull that "Dragon Egg" tainted with Losa’s bloodline into its embrace.
Though the Ocean Disaster was fast, the giant squid was faster, the seabed being the realm of sea beasts, even starting later, the distance between it and the Ocean Disaster rapidly widened.
"Aging!"
Furinjira extended her hand, the blood curse descended upon the giant squid’s head.
Its rapidly swimming body suddenly stiffened.
Though it lasted only a brief moment, the Ocean Disaster, already at its peak speed, under Captain Hog’s laughter, skewered it with that ivory horn, as if it were a Knight in a lance charge.
And with unspent force, pushed the giant squid towards the seabed.
Losa tightly gripped the ship’s rail, and out of the corner of his eye, he could see a subspecies Sea Dragon with only a head left, continuously gnawing at the squid’s body, large chunks of flesh falling from its severed neck — this creature became much more vulnerable after dying.
If it were a full-strength subspecies Sea Dragon, although it probably still wouldn’t be a match for this giant squid, at least it could put up a fight.
A massive tentacle, with tremendous force, fiercely pierced the ship’s hull, and the suckers emitted a strong pulling force, dragging a large number of zombie sailors out of the cabin, followed by several smaller tentacles that tangled with the zombie sailors pulled out by the large tentacle, shredding them into pieces.
Above Losa’s head, another tentacle crashed down.
Two flashes of sword light cut through the air.
The silhouette of Chelina wielding dual swords appeared atop the mast, and the giant tentacle attacking had already been severed in the middle, its remaining body thudded onto the ship, and as the ship tilted, it came crashing towards Losa.
Boom—
Prajna’s reliable figure appeared in front of Losa once again.
She slammed the Black Shield onto the deck, creating an invisible barrier that blocked the massive object, weighing several tons, from advancing further.
Jeanne’s eyes flickered with a golden flame pattern.
She gazed at the wide-open target — the giant squid with only two tentacles still guarding its head, as the golden Holy Flame quickly enveloped her body, forming golden holy marks on her tawny skin.
In this underwater setting, she was like a glowing sun.
"Holy!"
Amidst the sacred and majestic chant, the golden Holy Spear transformed into a stream of light, like the mythical Archer’s arrow shooting down the sun, effortlessly piercing through the two tentacles protecting the giant squid and stabbing directly into the squid’s head.
Yet, this giant squid truly lived up to its extreme tenacity, for even after suffering such a fatal wound, the remaining tentacles flailed even more wildly.
Though a centipede dies, it never falls rigid.
For a moment, the entire underwater world was ravaged by these terrifying tentacles.
"Summon the Holy Spear!"
Losa also raised his hand, and the distant Holy Spear flew towards him.
Another Holy Spear was hurled by Losa; although its momentum was far less than Jeanne’s, this was the only contribution he could make to the battlefield, as he couldn’t just unleash Dragon Flame and burn down the Ocean Disaster.
Hog had been flung out by the Sea Monster’s frenzied tentacles, cursing aloud while regretting it in his heart.
He had forgotten that with squids, even if they suffer fatal injuries, the remaining body still retains most of its life force, and with the brain gone, their aggressiveness only intensifies.
"Damn it, the profit from taking down this Sea Monster might not even cover the cost of repairing the Ocean Disaster!"
On Losa’s side, he could now hear the system prompt:
You have hunted a Legendary Sea Monster. Due to your minor contribution, you can only obtain one-tenth of the experience points, and your Level increased.
But the battle was still not over.
Indeed, as Hog suspected, it was now the corpse of the giant squid attacking them.
"I’ll try to stop it,"
Chelina suddenly spoke. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
She said this as she took off, the surrounding airflow swirling around her as she swung her dual blades, transforming into sharp Sword Qi that penetrated the shield isolating seawater from the Ocean Disaster, flying through the seawater and hitting each tentacle.
As the Sword Qi swept by.
The wildly flailing tentacles all suddenly went silent, losing the last bit of life force, and drooped down.
"Impressive, Nina!"
Jeanne exclaimed in awe.
"How did she do that?"
Losa was somewhat puzzled.
After all, her Sword Qi entering the seawater would already be greatly diminished in power, at most just scratching the surface of the opponent.
