Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 794 - 347 spinning cocoons
"Teacher."
Xu Ying turned toward the sound and saw a tall, bamboo-like young man walking over.
When he got a clear look at the face, he drew in a sharp breath and stammered, "Liu... Liu Runxi?"
His appearance hadn’t changed from a few years ago, as if he’d proportionally grown taller. Especially with that detached, jade-like, gentlemanly demeanor—there wouldn’t be a second person like him.
Sun Xiangren smiled helplessly. "You rushed here so fast—were you afraid I’d steal him from you?"
"An’an has something urgent to take care of and must leave first. I’ll come back to visit you later."
Shen You’an smiled and nodded at Sun Xiangren. "Dean Sun, I’m sure we’ll meet again in the future."
Sun Xiangren’s eyes lit up. "I’ll look forward to it. Don’t let me keep you two any longer—go on."
Liu Runxi hesitated, his lips parting slightly as if he wanted to say something. He gave a deep look to Sun Xiangren, then left with Shen You’an.
Xu Ying finally snapped out of it and immediately broke into a sprint to catch up.
Sun Xiangren thought back to the look in Liu Runxi’s eyes just before he left. That child was sharp—he probably already knew what had happened earlier. He wouldn’t let it slide that easily.
Wei Yun’er, do you even realize what a foolish thing you’ve done?
"Liu... God Liu."
Xu Ying, who wasn’t in the best physical shape, was panting heavily as the two taller men strode ahead with their long legs.
Liu Runxi stopped and turned to face him.
Xu Ying caught up, excitement and nerves written all over his face. "God Liu, I can’t believe I finally get to see you in person! My name’s Xu Ying—you’re the reason I started learning Go. You’re my idol."
He wasn’t the least bit shy, his young face glowing with admiration.
Liu Runxi’s gaze was warm and genuine. "Thank you. I hope the road ahead is smooth for you."
Hearing his idol’s encouragement, Xu Ying felt as if he’d won a championship. "I’ll definitely work hard."
He turned to Shen You’an, clenching his hands with excitement. "I didn’t expect you to know my idol! No wonder your playing style seems somewhat similar to his. It’s an honor to have competed against you, and I’m really looking forward to our next match on the field."
Shen You’an gave a small nod. "You will."
Liu Runxi turned to Shen You’an and said, "An’an, go flag down a taxi first. I have a few words to say to him."
Shen You’an nodded and walked over to the roadside to hail a taxi.
The chess academy was in a relatively remote area, and vehicles rarely passed by on this road. It took Shen You’an two minutes to flag down a passing taxi.
She glanced back and saw that Liu Runxi had already finished his conversation with Xu Ying and was striding toward her.
The two of them got into the car one after the other. Liu Runxi told the driver, "To the airport."
Xu Ying stood in place, watching the taxi disappear into the sunset, then took out his phone and dialed a number.
——
Along the way, the two remained silent, as if by tacit agreement.
At the airport, Liu Runxi accompanied Shen You’an to the check-in counter. By then, an announcement was already playing, warning that check-in for the Chunzhou-bound flight was about to close.
Shen You’an took her boarding pass, waved at Liu Runxi, and turned to run toward the gate.
Liu Runxi watched her disappearing figure at the gate, his expression growing cold at a visibly rapid pace.
Wei Yun’er watched as Liu Runxi and Shen You’an left Ren Shi Chess Academy, jealousy in her heart growing wild like weeds. Now even the dean had given up on her; she needed to make arrangements for herself as soon as possible.
She suddenly thought of meeting President Han of the Chess King Club backstage at last month’s competition. He’d tried to poach her back then and even slipped her a business card.
She’d absentmindedly stuffed the card into the inner pocket of her bag.
Wei Yun’er quickly hailed a taxi home. Relying on memory, she dug out a white purse from her walk-in closet and retrieved the card from the inner pocket.
She clutched the card while pacing back and forth in the living room. The setting sun dyed the balcony in gold.
As dusk faded and night descended, with only a sparse scattering of stars in the sky, Wei Yun’er finally steeled herself to dial the number. But just as she was about to make the call, her phone rang.
The incoming number was unfamiliar.
Wei Yun’er frowned. For some reason, she felt an inexplicable sense of unease about this call. She didn’t answer, letting the phone ring itself out.
Half a minute after the ringing stopped, the phone rang again.
This time, Wei Yun’er hesitated before answering. A cold female voice came through the line: "Is this Ms. Wei Yun’er?"
"Yes, this is she."
"I’m a staff member from the Go Association. We’ve received a formal complaint stating that you manipulated the referee to alter the results during today’s Go competition held at Ren Shi Chess Academy. Please report to the Go Association by 9 a.m. tomorrow to cooperate with the investigation."
Wei Yun’er’s heart sank immediately. She shrieked, "Who reported me?"
"According to regulations, we can’t disclose the whistleblower’s identity," the staff member replied coldly.
With that, the caller promptly hung up, leaving the dull tone of the disconnected line echoing. Wei Yun’er slumped onto the floor.
Who had filed the report?
Shen You’an’s face flashed across her mind.
With a furious sweep of her arm, she knocked everything off the table, sending fruit rolling across the floor.
She gritted her teeth and growled, "Shen You’an, just you wait!"
Years spent in the Go world hadn’t been for nothing. Adjusting herself swiftly, she began making calls to her contacts in the association’s higher-ups.
Shen You’an’s attempt to bring her down with such a trivial matter? She was dreaming.
Next, Wei Yun’er reached out to the referee—not only to ensure his silence, but, more importantly, to have the match recording erased.
No evidence, a referee standing firm in denial—then the matter would end up going nowhere.
At the Chunzhou Olympic Sports Center Swimming Hall, covering 80,000 square meters and boasting over 10,000 spectator seats, a major swimming competition would take place tomorrow.
One kilometer west of the sports center was a hotel named "Champion." This hotel had a small indoor pool, making it a convenient choice for many teams coming to Chunzhou for competitions to train there as well.
That evening, the indoor pool was brightly lit. Hong Cuiting stood by the pool clutching a stopwatch, her gaze fixed on the swimmers slicing through the water’s surface below. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Zhao Jiajia, 54 seconds 31."
"Chen Duo, 57 seconds 29."
Two heads popped out of the water, revealing young, fresh faces.
Zhao Jiajia glanced at Chen Duo, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
"Duoduo, is this your first time in Chunzhou? Having trouble adjusting to the weather here? You didn’t perform up to your usual standards."
Chen Duo stayed silent, gripping the pool’s edge as she climbed out, grabbed a towel, and dried her drenched body.
"Alright, keep your minds steady. Don’t overthink it. Both of you go back and get a good night’s sleep. Rest up."
Zhao Jiajia, wiping herself with a towel and preparing to leave, noticed Hong Cuiting sitting on a folding chair by the wall. She curiously asked, "Coach, aren’t you heading back to rest?"
Hong Cuiting didn’t look up as she replied, "I’m waiting for someone."
Zhao Jiajia’s eyes darted mischievously. "Is it the expert you’ve recruited?"
Hong Cuiting suddenly looked up at her.
Zhao Jiajia cheekily stuck out her tongue. "I overheard you on the phone by accident."
She then dashed over to Hong Cuiting’s side with a bright smile. "Coach, I want to stay and see if this expert you brought in is really as good as you say. Maybe Duoduo and I could even learn something, right? Duoduo, what do you think?"
Chen Duo ignored her, packed her belongings, and prepared to leave.
Hong Cuiting glanced at her wristwatch, noting there was one minute left until 8 o’clock.
"If you want to watch, then watch."
