Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 707 - 302 Vengeful Knife_2
She had always looked down on her maternal family’s businesses and paid them little attention; at the time, she only remembered one name—the Mei Fei Family.
Her uncle mentioned that person with a tone of deep apprehension, saying that despite the youth of this individual, their methods were extraordinary. He added that the future was uncertain, lamenting that the Wei family had been targeted and was unfortunately unlucky. He hoped her mother could use the Yu family’s influence to lend assistance.
Her mother did not respond immediately, only saying she would think about it.
After her uncle left, she advised her mother not to get involved with the Wei family’s business, explaining that it would be laborious and thankless. Her mother was visibly displeased and chose to remain silent in response.
As it turned out, the young man boldly speaking nonsense before her now was the very same person who had seized the Wei family’s assets. He seemed to understand the Yu family’s affairs thoroughly, leading her to suspect his ulterior motives.
The young man smiled warmly and said, "So I’m already this famous, huh?"
"Presumptuous," Yu Ruohuan snapped, her small face frosted over with icy disdain. "This is my Hua Country territory. It isn’t your place as a foreigner to spout nonsense here. Trying to overturn the charges against Sang Ziming, are you? Unfortunately for you, the Sang family’s treason has been conclusively proven. Speaking on behalf of Sang Ziming here, I have sufficient reason to suspect your motives and believe you harbor nefarious intentions. What’s the security bureau doing—just twiddling their thumbs?"
Jing Zhan immediately caught on, pulling out her phone to call her father and urging him to notify the security bureau to come quickly.
That accusation weighed heavily... The room fell silent, like the dead of winter.
The ruthlessness of the Yu family was evident today.
The golden-haired youth, accused in such a way, was not flustered in the slightest. His face still bore a playful and devil-may-care expression.
"Oh dear, you’re upset. Seems I struck a nerve," he chuckled.
Yu Ruohuan didn’t wish to argue with him further here; she planned to throw him into prison and take her time tormenting him.
"But if you want to touch me, frankly, you’re not qualified," the young man said, his voice low yet deeply arrogant.
Amos shot Lan Xiping a glance. Lan Xiping stepped aside to make a phone call, his voice barely audible, and finished within two sentences.
Soon after, the phone in Jing Zhan’s hand rang. A sense of foreboding crept into her heart as she answered it, lifting it to her ear.
Whatever the person on the other end said caused Jing Zhan’s expression to visibly sour.
After hanging up, she approached Yu Ruohuan and lowered her voice to say, "Sister Yu, this person cannot be touched."
Yu Ruohuan’s gaze darkened, her expression clouded entirely. She stared deeply at Amos before curling her lips coldly. "Master Amos, let me ask you this: when did the Yu family offend you?"
The youth replied lazily, "You haven’t offended me. I just don’t like the sight of you, that’s all. Recently, I learned a new idiom: ’A cuckoo occupying a magpie’s nest.’ Miss Yu, with your vast knowledge, could you explain it to me?"
Yu Ruohuan practically gritted her teeth as she responded, "You court death."
The youth laughed even more cheerfully, as though her mounting fury only brought him greater satisfaction.
"Since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by physics. By chance, I stumbled upon Professor Yu Yisen’s paper published thirty years ago in *Nature Physics*. It struck me as a masterpiece, and from then on, Professor Yu Yisen became my idol. But when I later came to understand his personal history... Tsk. Some things don’t need to be spelled out, do they? You Hua Country folks have a saying, don’t you? ’When there’s no tiger in the mountain, the monkey becomes king.’ Over time, those monkeys start forgetting their place. I think I need to remind one overly ambitious monkey here to mind their step—lest they fall to their death."
Leng Shan felt a surge of astonishment internally. Was this all just to stand up for Yu Yisen? But somehow, he felt it wasn’t so simple.
Yu Ruohuan’s expression darkened further, resembling a scorched kettle. Unable to act against him and losing the upper hand in the argument, she found herself watched by countless pairs of eyes. Her predicament truly left her at an impasse.
"No matter the heights Yu Yisen reached in academia, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the descendant of a traitor. He’s a stain on society. If you dream of clearing his name, wait for your next life," she spat coldly before striding away with a sneering humph.
Her hurried steps had a hint of fleeing in disgrace.
Jing Zhan bolted after her.
Wen Wan and Wen Yu exchanged awkward glances. Staying behind would only add to the embarrassment, so they left as well.
As Jing Zhan moved to descend the stairs, Leng Shan’s assistant blocked her path. "Miss Jing, you cannot leave. You must wait for the police to arrive to investigate the truth behind Miss Xingshuang’s fall."
Jing Zhan bit her lip, watching helplessly as Yu Ruohuan’s figure receded. Anxiety was unmistakable in her eyes.
"Miss Wen..."
While passing, Wen Wan cast her a ’good luck’ glance and pulled Wen Yu along downstairs in haste.
And thus, this farcical scene came to an end.
Everyone’s gaze upon Amos now carried a mix of awe—as though he were a warrior.
None of them were stupid; they naturally understood the old adage, "Give a dog a bad name and hang him." With Yu Yisen’s whereabouts unknown and no one daring to clear his name, whatever the Yu family said tended to go unquestioned.
Now, for someone to brazenly mock the Yu family’s opportunistic ways right in front of Yu Ruohuan—while fear gripped their hearts, there was also a distinct sense of satisfaction.
The Yu family had been untouchable for far too long. Finally, someone had come to challenge them—it was refreshing.
Amos shook his head and sighed. "A stubborn duck refuses to admit it’s dead. Old Sir Leng, you Hua Country people have a saying, don’t you? ’The laws of heaven are clear, karma’s never wrong. Justice delayed is not justice denied.’ Is that about right?"
Leng Shan mused to himself that Amos’s command of Mandarin was superior to many native speakers. Out loud, he answered, "That’s correct."
"Good. Then I’ll wait and see—what karma awaits the Yu family."
That one offhand remark from the youth sounded like thunder crashing in everyone’s ears.
Leng Shan dared not echo it.
"Mr. Amos, right this way, please," he said.
The youth moved around the screen and took a seat at the table. Lan Xiping sat across from him.
Outside, Gu Bichen and Leng Yunyang exchanged glances before sitting down calmly. Leng Xuexi peeked inside and whispered quietly, "Brother, he’s amazing."
Her eyes sparkled with admiration.
Leng Yunyang patted her on the head. "Compared to your brother?"
Leng Xuexi’s eyeballs swiveled. "I think he’s even more amazing. Just now, he caught Leng Xingshuang barehanded—from the fifth floor, no less. Brother, would you have been able to do that?"
In that fleeting moment, what was required was physical prowess, reflexes, and agility. Though she didn’t intend to underestimate her brother, the way Amos managed to catch Leng Xingshuang earlier was genuinely impressive—even her brother might not be able to pull it off.
Leng Yunyang smiled and shook his head, then glanced up to see Gu Bichen, across from him, immersed in thought. He couldn’t help but ask, "What are you thinking?"
Gu Bichen turned to look behind the screen. The youth’s silhouette was faintly visible, and those piercing, sapphire-like eyes brimmed with mystery.
"He gives me a familiar feeling."
Leng Yunyang raised an eyebrow. "Me too."
