Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 697 - 298 Who is the illegitimate child
Leng Xingshuang was still in a daze.
She hadn’t seen her brother for more than half a month. But then again, her brother often didn’t stay home, skipping class had become routine for him. She figured he must’ve gone somewhere to have fun again—after all, he always had bodyguards around him, so Leng Xingshuang didn’t worry about his safety.
But yesterday, her brother suddenly called her and told her he bought her a ticket to Jingzhou. He didn’t say anything else before hanging up.
Today, she took the earliest flight to Jingzhou.
As soon as she landed, someone claiming to be her brother’s associate came to pick her up.
Fearing it might be a trap, she called her brother. Her brother reassured her, urging her to follow the person.
She got into the car, where a stylist was already waiting for her.
By the time she got out of the car, she looked radiant—her beauty glowing brilliantly like a polished pearl.
Cold Moon Building—she’d heard of it before. A well-known place.
But why had her brother asked her to come here?
She saw many unfamiliar guests. Judging by their accents, they were all locals of Jingzhou. Among them, she even spotted a few merchants and politicians she’d seen in the news.
She quickly realized this banquet was far from ordinary.
But what did it have to do with her?
She ascended to the fifth floor and unexpectedly encountered Gu Bichen.
In this foreign place that filled her with inexplicable nervousness, seeing a familiar face—even one that wasn’t particularly close—offered her some measure of comfort.
Though feeling it might not be entirely appropriate, she couldn’t resist walking toward Gu Bichen and carefully said, "Gu, have you seen my brother?"
Considering her brother, Leng Yunyang, was somewhat of a legendary figure at Lanya High School, and even in Qingzhou, she—being his sister—shared some of that aura by association. Although she kept a low profile, many people at Lanya High School knew of her. Surely Gu Bichen would recognize her?
Gu Bichen looked at her gently, seemingly puzzled by her question, but soon smiled and replied, "Wait a moment; he’ll show up soon."
Leng Xuexi breathed a sigh of relief and instinctively took a seat opposite Gu Bichen.
"What kind of banquet is this? Why did my brother insist I come? And what does he really want?"
Leng Xuexi’s mind buzzed with countless questions.
Gu Bichen poured her a cup of tea and placed it in front of her. "No need to rush—just wait patiently."
Leng Xuexi held the tea cup in her hands, her cold fingers touching the warmth of the porcelain. The heat seemed to spread through her fingers, soothing the uneasiness within her.
She took a sip, then sneaked a glance at Gu Bichen sitting across from her.
He probably didn’t know that countless girls at Lanya High School secretly had a crush on him.
Even her own close friends had confided that Gu Bichen embodied the ideal gentleman, as if liking him was simply natural for anyone.
There he sat quietly, framed against the vast snowy landscape beyond the wooden railings. The cold, wintry snow felt biting, but he shone like warm jade—his presence seemed to illuminate the dim loft, making it momentarily feel brighter.
The chaos in Leng Xuexi’s heart suddenly stilled.
She used her cup to hide the slight lift of her lips, as though protecting the secret thoughts of a young girl, burying them deep within her heart.
Yu Ruohuan witnessed this entire scene from nearby. She let out a cold laugh and signaled Jing Zhan with a glance.
Understanding her gesture, Jing Zhan approached Leng Xuexi. "You seem unfamiliar... Why haven’t I seen you before?"
When Leng Xuexi had come to the fifth floor, she had noticed four other people there. The most striking among them was the girl seated at the head—the one wearing a purple dress. She had an air of dignified authority, with the other three subtly deferring to her. Leng Xuexi hadn’t dared to look directly at her for long.
Now that someone had actively initiated conversation, Leng Xuexi replied, "I’m Leng Xuexi. This is my first time here."
Jing Zhan covered his mouth in mock surprise. "Your surname is Leng? So, you’re connected to the Leng family? But isn’t there only one Miss Leng in the family? Are you from a branch of the Leng family?"
Leng Xuexi froze for a moment, unsure what to say. "I...."
She didn’t know how to respond.
Gu Bichen glanced at Jing Zhan, his brows slightly furrowed.
Jing Zhan patted her lightly on the shoulder and kindly said, "Don’t be nervous. I feel like we have a special connection—who knows, maybe we’ll become friends in the future?"
But instead of relaxing, Leng Xuexi found herself more alert. Her internal alarms went off.
Leng Xuexi curved her lips into a polite smile, appearing gentle and bashful.
Jing Zhan gestured toward Yu Ruohuan and said, "That’s Miss Yu from the Yu family. You’ve heard of the Yu family, haven’t you?"
Leng Xuexi looked toward the girl in the purple dress.
Yu Ruohuan smiled and nodded politely, exuding an air of grace and propriety.
