DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 52: Orion Labyrinth [Pt—2]: The Shadow Entities

"Flash!" unison voice of Frey and Skyler filled the place with light.

After defeating the Dark Leopard a sudden pitfall was triggered; leading them to fall in the depth of the labyrinth.

Where they had fallen was dark and even harder to see their own hands. Until Frey and Skyler used their light element to counter the darkness.

The others stood unharmed. They were at the center of a big and enormous room that stretched endlessly as far as they could see.

Emily felt a little scared while the others tried to figure the way out. But found none.

"Where are we?" She almost cried out, "I’m feeling chilling wind through my body."

"Jeez! Emily." Maya said with exhaustion, "Try to stay calm. Nothing’s going to happen that bad."

"Yeah, she’s right." Said Leon to encourage her, "We’ll get out before you know it."

"Are you sure.....?"

No. the last voice didn’t belong to any of them. It was different; heavy and thirsty for blood.

"What was that?" Emily freaked out as she held Maya tightly, her eyes drenching in tears. "Did you hear that? Someone’s here."

Everyone stayed alert, trying to find where the voice came from.

Suddenly the floor began radiating light— glowing patterns as though a magic circle was being drawn on its own. It glowed brightly.

Few more circles appear, surrounding them. However, they were slightly different than the big one. In fact they were summoning circles as shadowy figures started showing up from them.

’Just my luck.’ Skyler murmured to himself, looing at the system interface which alerted him about the approaching danger. ’Why’s demon here anyways?’

But there was no one to answer that.

On the walls of this big room, started burning the scorching flames, torching the room with flickering light. And they were surrounded by countless numbers of shadow demons.

It was a matter of panicking. However, no on was worry enough to loose their calm; except for Emily who was scared of them.

The horde of the shadowy figures moved, and someone emerged from there.

"I never expected humans to appear in this floor." He spoke, unleashing a menacing aura that nearly scared the rest of the shadow demons. They kneeled as though greeting their king’s approaching.

He was taller than them, with dark scales on his body and pitch black skin. His three eyes blazed in crimson, while his sharp-long teeth let a satisfactory laugh.

"YAA-HAAA-HAAA." He laughed. His laughter shook the entire place.

"No way!" Murmured Frey with a low voice— slightly louder than whispering, "It can’t be him."

Her panicking face snatched attention of the others. They never saw her panicking like that. She was the calmest person they had ever known. Yet, seeing her act like that, concerned the others.

"Frey?" Maya called out, "What’s the matter?" Her own voice now trembled in fear.

"He’s...." She stammered, "He’s Dairon. The infamous servant of the demon god.... The one.... who was defeated by the Sovereigns of first generation."

"Oh, you recognize me?" he spoke to Frey, "You must be well informed. And yes. I am Dairon. One of the Demon General who served the Demon God of Shadow Realm."

He declared, still unleashing the pressure of his oppressive aura.

’Demon God?’ Skyler muttered to himself, ’What’s a puppet of demon god doing in a place like this? If he was defeated, why didn’t the sovereigns killed him while they had the chance?’

"For real?" Leon said, looing his calm demeanour, "Then we must withdraw at once."

The confidence they had soon replaced with panic as the name gave sent a chill through their spine. Dairon was out of their league. He was powerful enough to summon shadow demons even though he was trapped in there.

"Leon." Skyler said, stepping a bit forward, "We must have fallen for a trap. Withdrawing might not be an option anymore. We have to defeat him."

"HAA-HAA-HAAA....." the laughter echoed again, "Defeat me? HAA-HAA. You must be joking. Do I look like someone who can be dealt with a bunch of children?"

"Children?" Skyler raised his eyebrows, his aura leaking slightly, "Do I look like a children to you?"

The moment the system informed him with the notification, also the moment when his oppressive draconic aura unleased and clashed with Dairon’s. It was intense and only the demon could feel it as they held hostility towards him.

His very presence was dominating. But it had only a small effect on Dairon.

’Such presence... he’s no ordinary.’ He thought and replied, "Forgive me for my rudeness. I take that back. As it appears, I’m up against an worthy opponent. Care to give your name."

Skyler who was walking slowly, chuckled with a grin. And then vanished— as though he had teleported from the place he walked. And appeared just on a side of Dairon with his thunder enveloping hand like before.

"I don’t think you really need to know that as you’re about to meet your end." He punched.

Much to his surprised Dairon blocked his attack bare handed. The thunder sparkled though ground, and he stood unaffected.

"Huh? Don’t get cocky, brat!" He growled, "Just because I’ve acknowledged you, doesn’t mean that you’re capable of beating me. It takes more than that to even scratch me."

Meanwhile, the other stood worried, looking how Skyler took the initial attack. They were too afraid to move, yet Skyler went head on. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"What’s he doing?" Julian almost cried, "Does he not know how strong the opponent is? We’re as good as dead."

Few of them seemed to agree with him. However Maya wasn’t, neither was Frey.

’I cannot die here.’ Frey took a deep breath, overcoming her fear before anyone else did, ’If I die here, my hard works will go in vain. I didn’t struggle for that. Look at him, Frey. He knew defeating the demon is impossible, yet he refused to yield.’

"Everyone!" She screamed, "It’s not like he doesn’t know what he’s up against. He’s fighting because there’s no other way to leave this place. There’s only two options— either you die or you fight."

Maya slapped her both cheeks, putting senses back into her mind. She wasn’t the type to accept defeat without a fight.

"That’s right!" She shouted, encouraging her friends, "We’re the honoured ones. There’s no way we’ll die in their hands. Let’s fight together."

"Agreed!"

"Yes!"

"Right!"

"Let’s go!"

Everyone nodded. The terror in their face washed away. And they rushed towards the approaching Shadow demons.

Their attacks were indeed remarkable. Whether group attacks or individually, they wield extraordinary strength. They began to annihilate the demons one after another.

Among them Frey stood out with elegance. Her fighting style had a uniqueness— as though seeing a goddess fighting while radiating with brilliance.

It wasn’t just because of her light elemental skills. Rather, the way she used it— not more than necessary and had a perfect control over it.

Probably because her being a Stage-1 mage had to do something with it. Her mana preserve was lower than other. But damage competency of her attacks was greater.

’She’s well trained.’ Skyler praised while falling back a little. Now that his teammates were holding their own, he didn’t need to hold back anymore.

"Dairon was it?" He queried, glancing at him confidently, "You can call me Skyler."

"Skyler?" He repeated, "I’ll gladly remember your name after your defeat."

This time he vanished and appeared right before Skyler. With a powerful force, he led an impact on Skyler’s stomach, making him fly far behind the walls.

Skyler was fast but not as fast as him to dodge that. With a destructive sound he nearly stuck on the wall like stone embedded on it.

"It still deducted a lot." Skyler stood, "His attacks are no joke and he doesn’t seem to wield any grace either. Meaning if my HP ran out I can die this time."

Skyler’s outstretched his right arm upwards, calling a dark-purple magic circles which covered the entire area. Dairon stood and watched what he could accomplish.

The magic circle was tremendous, and not only did it enhance Skyler’s magical abilities, it enhance the potential of others as well.

[Attack, Defense and Agility of user and his friends have been increased by 50%]

"You’ve got this boost only for five minutes." Skyler informed others, "Use this to destroy the demons."

Others who were surprised to see the newfound boost, didn’t ask him any question. They just nodded and gave him a reassurance that five minutes were enough to beat the demons.

Skyler focused on Dairon. With an extreme hydro propulsion he rushed for him.

In a blink of an eye, the five minutes has passed by. The massive magic circle shattered above their heads. Skyler was exhausted; so as the others.

He breathed heavily, looking at Dairon who had nothing but a single scratch on his face. With one eye he glanced at the system interface.

The demons, however, didn’t stop appearing. No matter how many they had been killed already, they were coming over and over again.

"I thought you’d be fun to play." Dairon murmured with disappointment, "At the end of the day, you couldn’t stand against me either. But fear not. I’ll give an honourable death."

His dark mana surged through his hands, gathering in one place as to unleash a devastating attack. He focused and the energy kept gathering, making a huge sphere of dark, he unleashed it.

"Shadow Devour!" He exclaimed as he launched the attack.

The attack pointed at Skyler. And the group of shadow demons aimed at the others. The situation was overwhelming and turned against them.

There was no possible way to evade that. And if he let that hit, everything would purged. At that moment, he chuckled.

"Seems like I don’t have much of a choice." The attack closed in, so as the system appeared reacting to his wishes.
