DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 19: Confrontation: Skyler & Leonardo

"Who’re they?" Skyler murmured to himself, seeing Leonardo and his party who just appeared near the swamp, "Adventurers? They might’ve been here for another quest."

His HP was unimaginably down. Even someone could kill him just by throwing a small rock. The explosion, small yet effective, burned up all of his health, leading him to sit there without moving.

"Preposterous!" exclaimed Rose, seeing all the messes Skyler had made, "Did that one person do all of this? It is quite hard to believe."

"Indeed." Leonardo— the clan leader, replied with shocking eyes, "It’s preposterous, unless the person before us, is a sorcerer."

The word alerted them as they, too, reacted how Joseph and his party did. They were on guard thinking the sorcerer might be scheming something.

"At ease!" Leonardo commanded, seeing their intentions, "He’s not one of the Xions. He’s a pure sorcerer, and might’ve been sent by our goddess to resolve the current circumstances. You don’t want to get on a bad page with him, that I assure."

"Is that so?" McVill said as they looked dumbfounded yet understood what their leader tried to say, "I assume he’s the one of whom you spoke to save earlier."

"Precisely." replying to McVill, Leonardo looked at his daughter, "Soniya can you create a path to him?"

"On it, father." She replied, coming forth near the swamp, "O Goddess of Creation! Heed my prayer. By the grace of terra, show me the path and pulverize the obstacles before me. Come forth, Earth Bridge."

As she completed her incantations, the forest started shaking. Removing all the blood and corpses from the way, multiple pillars arose from beneath. It formed a bridge— a path over the pillars. Quite magnificent, as if created by a skilled architecture.

As it came to a completion, they walked on it, aiming to approach Skyler— the sorcerer who decimated the entire swamp.

"Why the hell are they coming here?" Skyler wondered, incapable to comprehend their motives, "Are they here for a fight? They look tough though. If they start a fight I might not be able to counter them."

He came down from the rock he was sitting. He didn’t had any clue who they were. Thus intended to talk things out. But there remained a single problem he still needed to overcome.

The system kept showing him the screen, reminding him to heal himself. Unfortunately, he didn’t had any healing spells, nor he had any healing potions. That was a disadvantage he remembered during the fight.

The blood continued dripping from him as he walked slowly. Leonardo and his team already reached the land present in the center of the swamp.

"Is there something you want?" Skyler spoke first, seeing their unclear motives, "Or you’re here for something else?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"I assume You’re Skyler." Leonardo replied, observing carefully, "No need to be so much worry. I’m the leader of Risers Clan. The name’s Leonardo. We’ve come here to rescue you."

’What!’ He couldn’t believe as he thought, ’What’s the clan leader doing in here? And why the hell did he know my name?’

"Clan Leader?" Skyler wondered, glaring at them with suspicion, "Why would the clan leader be here to rescue me?"

"Think it as an excuse to make up for my daughter’s naïve decision." Leonardo said, shifting his gaze at Kent from him, "Kent, do your job."

"Okay, sir." Kent replied, coming near Skyler as he casted a green magical circle on him, and incanted, "O Goddess of Creation! Heed my prayers. By the grace of recovery, release the burdens and grant us your salvation. Full Recovery!"

The system showed the increasing health bar as Kent continued healing him. Within seconds, he got his health bar full. Shocked, he said, "Why did you healed my? I never asked for it."

"Didn’t I say earlier?" replied Leonardo with a smile, "I’m just making up for my daughter’s wrong decision."

"Your daughter?" He couldn’t help but wonder.

"I’m talking about Hellen— the receptionist who suggested you the quest." Leonardo answered, pointing at the black serpents, "The quest log was meant to be updated before she gave you. It was my fault that I didn’t reach the clan sooner. I beg forgiveness for my carelessness." He bowed.

"Don’t worry about it." Skyler said, "Actually, I did enjoyed facing the difficulty. And I’m perfectly fine. So there’s no need for an apology. You’ve already healed me though."

"Such honesty!" Leonardo remarked, looking at him, "No wonder why the goddess has chosen you to be a sorcerer."

That remark alone boiled Skyler’s blood. If it wasn’t for his mask, they might have seen the ferocious impression on his face. He clinched his fist. He wouldn’t mind attacking them. But it was clan leader who stood before him. He didn’t want to get into his bad side— thus held his composure.

"You’re mistaken." He replied, calming himself down, "I’m just a stage-1 mage, not a sorcerer."

"You want us to believe that the entire ’Muddy Swamp’ along with the legendary white serpent, was annihilated by a mere stage-1 mage. How peculiar!" Leonardo burst into laughter, seeing how he tried to cover the situation, "Don’t worry. You can undone your mask. Hellen already told us about him. We’re not here to accuse you or anything. After all, you’re also from a legendary class. And it’s an honour to meet you."

"Also?"

"Oh, pardon. We forget to introduce ourselves. As I said, I’m the clan leader Leonardo Andrill. Also a Hero Class."

"I’m Rosaline Del Heathway." Rose said, following Leonardo’s lead, "I’m a ’Guardian’ class adventurer. It’s an honour to meet an actual sorcerer. Feel free to call me Rose."

"I’m her brother, Michael Rosevill Del Heathway." McVill said smilingly, "Please call me McVill. Currently, I’m a stage-10 fighter. However, I’ll soon be facing my class ascension phase. And will reach the same class as our leader."

’Rosevill?’ Skyler thought, ’Does that mean he’s a highborn? Prince perhaps? Then that girl, she has to be the princess. What’re they doing adventuring?’

But he didn’t ask anything and looked at Soniya who introduced herself next, "I’m Soniya Andrill. Hellen’s elder sister. Also a stage-9 mage. And this is my fiancé Kent Hillstone."

"It’s nice to meet you. I’m stage-9 healer."

’No wonder they seemed tough earlier.’ He thought, ’Their stages is too high to be regular adventurers. Specially the clan leader and that girl, Rose was it?’

"It’s a pleasure to meet all of you." Skyler said, removing his mask, "As you already know, I’m a sorcerer. Call me Skyler."

The clan leader— Leonardo instantly looked at him with his appraisal skill. He was surprisingly shocked seeing the intense aura surrounding him. Yet he felt relieved that he wasn’t one of the Xions.

His gaze, now fell upon the massive white serpent. He walked slowly towards it. Touching it’s majestic rattle-like tail, now dead, he said, "Skyler, I appreciate how you manage to complete the quest despite of its difficulty. So, how about we help you out to gather all the loots form the serpents?"

"Thanks for the suggestions." Skyler replied, raising his right hand up high, "But it won’t be necessary. Now gather, Scavenge! "
