Dragon System: Red Dragon Legacy-Chapter 49: The Final Test-3 (Let’s Dance)
"Let’s dance."
Although the monster felt a flicker of fear, it wasn’t enough to fully distract it.
Orion, now significantly more powerful, still had one major disadvantage—his body was healing from all his injuries. But it didn’t matter. He still had his Star Fire skill available. Now that he decided not to hold back, he could use his skills freely.
"Star Fire!"
Then—
BOOOMMM!
The massive explosion shook the ground. Orion thought the monster was finished.
But to his surprise, after a few seconds, the smoke cleared. The creature emerged—its skin completely burned away, molten and glowing like living lava. Yet somehow, it still stood, alive. It was weaker than before, but far from defeated.
.
"How...?" Orion muttered in horror.
"How...?" Orion muttered in horror. But, he didn’t have time to dwell on it. Star Fire was no longer an option—his star energy was depleted, and it was night, so he couldn’t recharge it. Instead, he took advantage of the monster’s weakened state, and he charged.
He slashed at the monster’s neck.
The monster blocked with its claws, but Orion didn’t flinch this time. He grabbed the monster’s claw, pushed it back, and charged again—this time aiming for its eyes.
The creature couldn’t react fast enough. Orion pinned one of its eyes with his claw, tearing it from its socket.
"Hrooooowwwellllll!" the monster let out a guttural howl, slashing blindly. Orion retreated.
"Hrrrrrrooooowwwwwwllll!"
Just as he was about to charge again, the monster let out a long, terrifying howl.
"!"
A bright red fire ignited in its maw, and it shot toward Orion.
He dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack.
"How... how long has it had this ability?" Orion realized. Up until now, the monster had just been toying with him.
The creature began firing continuously, forcing Orion to dodge and preventing him from getting close. It was buying time—and healing at a terrifying speed.
"Tch..." Orion gritted his teeth in frustration.
In a moment of desperation, he let his instincts take over completely. His movements became sharper, weaving through the fire to reach the monster. He struck again, tearing open its neck.
"Grrrrrrrrr!" the monster cried.
Orion didn’t stop. He moved faster, slashing repeatedly. Blood sprayed everywhere, but the creature refused to fall. With a massive blow, it knocked Orion aside.
Thanks to his dragon scales, he wasn’t badly hurt. Charging again, he used Flash Movement to appear in front of the monster and pierced his claw into its other eye.
"Hrwowoollllllll!"
The monster was now fully blind.
’Okay, that’s my chance,’ Orion thought. He drew his sword and slashed at its neck with full force.
Clang.
But the monster somehow blocked it with its claw.
’Huh... but how?’ Orion was shocked. He retreated, picked up a small stone, and threw it. The monster slapped it away instinctively.
’I knew it... this bastard can sense its surroundings.’
He tried tiptoeing closer, slashing again, but the monster blocked each attack. Orion’s movements grew faster, his attacks more desperate, but the creature matched him blow for blow.
Exhaustion crept in. His instincts threatened to take full control, but he ignored it—his mind fully focused on the monster. He drove his sword into its neck, and without pulling it free, extended his claws and sliced downward.
"Hrwwwoolllllllll!" The monster’s neck split partially, but it still stood, battered and unrecognizable.
"AHhHHhHHhh!" Orion screamed, pain and frustration surging through him. His body ached, his control faltering. Taking advantage of his weakened state, the monster struck him across the ribs, sending him flying.
"COUGH—COUGH!" He coughed up blood; the only reason he was still standing was because of his dragon transformation skill. Pain surged through his entire body, but he swallowed it all up.
Orion charged again. The monster unleashed another stream of fire. Exhausted, he couldn’t dodge completely. The flames struck him head-on, blasting him backward. The fire burst through the scales on his chest, and he slammed into a massive tree with such force that it collapsed. Orion hovered on the verge of unconsciousness.
He tried to stand as the monster—also badly injured—limped toward him. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find any strength left in his body.
The monster stopped in front of him. It raised a massive paw and pressed it against Orion’s burned chest, its claws digging in. Orion couldn’t even scream in pain; he was too weak.
The creature opened its maw, ready to bite his head off.
At that moment, Orion’s instincts flared, and a last surge of strength rushed through his body. He swiftly summoned a spear from his inventory and drove it into the monster’s open mouth as it lunged to bite him. The spear pierced straight through its skull, emerging from the other side.
The monster’s mouth froze inches from Orion’s face, saliva and blood dripping onto him. He didn’t wait any longer. Pushing himself out from beneath the monster, he drew his sword and slashed at its neck.
The monster’s head fell from its body, the spear still stuck in its skull. The lava-like glow on its body faded.
Orion sank to his knees, utterly spent. He stared at the fallen creature, too weak to celebrate.
But then, his lips slowly curved into a smile.
Not because he had slain the monster, but because of the system messages that appeared before him.
[Congratulations on your rank up]
[You have reached B–Rank]
[Your Flame Pulse skill has ranked up]
[Your Dragon Transformation skill has ranked up]
[All your passive skills have ranked up]
[Congratulations! You have completed the hidden mission: ’First Step into True Power’]
Seeing these messages, Orion couldn’t hold back his excitement, even though he didn’t have the strength to move his lips properly.
Staring at the sky, he burst into loud laughter.
"HA HA HA HA HA!"
But then Orion collapsed to the ground, his strength finally gone. Darkness crept into his vision as he was about to lose consciousness.
Estaban woke up when the battle between Orion and the monster reached its boiling point. He stood frozen, too stunned to speak or move. He had countless questions, but he pushed them aside. Right now, he needed to check on Orion.
He ran toward him and knelt beside his body.
"Hey, man, are you alright? Talk to me," Estaban said, shaking Orion lightly.
"Easy..." Orion muttered. He knew Estaban had seen his powers, but he didn’t care now. The pain was too much.
"Does it look like I’m okay?" he snapped weakly.
"Alright, alright—just tell me what to do," Estaban said quickly.
"Yes." Orion pulled out a few magic stones from his inventory and handed them to Estaban.
"Put these in my mouth."
Estaban froze. "What? But—"
"Just do as I say."
Estaban obeyed, though fear filled his chest. After what he had seen, Orion didn’t feel like a normal human anymore. Maybe he wasn’t human at all.
To his shock, after a few hours, Orion’s condition improved greatly.
Estaban stared at him in disbelief.
’How...?’ he thought.
Soon, Orion was strong enough to stand. He walked toward Lloyd and Martin, who were still unconscious.
He stood in front of them and drew his blade
Estaban was confused as to what Orion was doing.
But to Estaban’s horror orion slashed and cut both of their heads off.
"What the fuck"
