Dragon Ball Roshi-Chapter 160 - : Divinity
Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Divinity
"A race of rage incarnates? Born cosmic-level?" Taro couldn't help but feel a stir in his heart.
The mention of a race embodying rage naturally brought to mind the Saiyans. If this were the case, then what kind of Saiyan could achieve the status of being "born cosmic-level"? A natural-born Super Saiyan? No, if a galactic level corresponds to one hundred million in power level, then cosmic-level must at least begin at one billion. Ordinary Super Saiyans clearly wouldn't meet this threshold.
The only possibility, then, would be the "Legendary Super Saiyan."
In other words, Broly — the figure that appeared in the movies. Unlike other Super Saiyans, he was able to utterly overpower Goku, Vegeta, and the others with brute force alone, rendering their efforts futile. Even the proud Saiyan prince was left psychologically shattered by his overwhelming strength.
According to the movies, Broly, as a Legendary Super Saiyan, experienced an exponential and uncontrollable growth in power from the moment he was born. His ki continuously surged without end, a force so wild that it disrupted his mind. To suppress his uncontrollable power and violent tendencies, he had to rely on specialized equipment.
If Broly truly existed, whether in this universe or another parallel one, his presence would lend further credibility to the Grand Kai's statements about cosmic upheaval. From this, a few key facts could be inferred:
The Saiyan Race
This so-called "race of rage incarnates" was likely, during the primordial era (which Taro, accustomed to online novels, mentally referred to as the "pre-era" universe before its split), a species as formidable as the Frieza clan, with an average racial strength at the galactic level.
Super Saiyan transformations? They might have been common traits of the race back then. Otherwise, how could they be called a "race of rage incarnates"?
After the split, in what Taro now considered the "post-era" universe (as depicted in the original series), the Saiyans likely experienced significant regression due to the cosmic upheaval. Much like the Grand Kai, their ancestral bloodline of rage and power lay dormant, buried deep within their bodies under a "lock."
Only a select few individuals, those of exceptional talent, could access the treasures left by their ancestors — figures like Bardock, Goku, and Vegeta.
If this reasoning held, one could surmise that once a post-era Saiyan broke through the "lock" with their rage-fueled power, the genetic limitations on their descendants might disappear entirely. This could explain why, in the original series, Gohan, Goten, and Trunks displayed exceptional talent, and why Super Saiyans later became commonplace.
In particular, Future Trunks (known affectionately as "Mirai Trunks" in fan conventions) might have faced a unique situation. In his timeline, when Bulma was pregnant with him, Vegeta likely had not yet overcome the genetic barrier to achieve Super Saiyan.
As a result, Future Trunks's "genetic lock" remained intact, only to be unlocked later after the traumatic death of Gohan, allowing him to finally ascend to Super Saiyan. In contrast, in the peaceful timeline, the younger version of Trunks, much like Goten, managed to transform into a Super Saiyan effortlessly at a young age without foundational training or any significant emotional trauma.
Broly
If, in the pre-era, exceptional individuals within the Rage Incarnate race were born cosmic-level... then perhaps Broly's power, which had been cosmic-level from birth, was a result of the cosmic turmoil and his race's bloodline being suppressed. His power then continuously grew from birth, relentlessly improving, until it reached the cosmic-level threshold once more.
This, in essence, was the thought process that flashed through Taro's mind in that instant.
The Grand Kai, of course, couldn't know the depth of Taro's thoughts within such a short span. Upon hearing Taro's repeated recounting, he merely sighed and said, "Indeed, the great universe of old was like that, with billions of races vying for dominance." He shook his head. "But those who could truly become the true gods, throughout history, have always been few and far between."
"True gods?" Taro asked, turning to the Grand Kai.

The Grand Kai seemed to be caught off guard by his own words. He pushed his sunglasses up and tugged at his white beard, muttering, "Hmm, something just came to mind... True gods... gods..." His eyes shifted, locking onto Taro, as though his gaze could pierce through the sunglasses and into Taro's very soul. He continued, "I think... I understand what Lord Kavishir meant..."
Taro asked, "Lord Kavishir? Who is that?"
The Grand Kai reminisced, "He was a Kaioshin from before the Great Universe split, during the cosmic upheaval... He was a true Kaioshin." He repeated true Kaioshin, perhaps emphasizing a difference from some other Kaioshins.
Shaking his head, the Grand Kai's memories of this Kaioshin were fragmented at best. He stared at Taro and then said, "Taro, I can see it, you possess a trace of divinity!"
Taro's expression remained calm, but hearing that he had some form of "divinity" surprised him greatly.
He was well aware of his own situation.
He was, after all, just an ordinary man who had lived a long time. Upon arriving in the Dragon Ball world, his martial arts potential wasn't particularly remarkable. Had it not been for the special circumstances of his life, he might have ended up doing who knows what on Earth, unsure whether, even after three hundred years, he would have fared better than the original Master Roshi.
If there was anything special about him, it might lie in his connection to the God Tree. Perhaps it was Nine Tomoe Sharingan. In fact, after obtaining the God Tree's body, Taro had expected his power to skyrocket, but in reality, his progress was much slower than anticipated. This was the reason it had taken decades to reach just over four million in power level.
"That's right," the Grand Kai nodded. "But... I can't tell where exactly this trace of divinity resides within you." He shook his head and sighed, "I'm not what I used to be. I've lost too much of my ability."
With that, the Grand Kai turned and began walking, continuing, "You may be the one Lord Kavishir has been waiting for... Anyway, come with me. Let's discuss your Muken further. If there truly is some form of divinity within you, it's likely tied to that."
Taro pondered for a moment but decided to follow him.
---
In the boundless white room, the two of them engaged in deep exchange, focusing on the Muken. Taro shared everything he knew with the Grand Kai, leaving nothing unsaid. However, when Taro tried to teach the Grand Kai the Muken using his eye techniques, the Grand Kai refused.
He said, "Now I'm even more certain that you possess divinity. From the fragmented memories I have, ancient arts that carry divinity are always unique and secret, never to be passed on easily. Your Muken is exactly like that, isn't it?" He paused and added, "It's pointless for me to learn it. If you want to master divinity through this technique, it can only be achieved by your own breakthrough. As for me, I've long since no longer needed it."
