Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 94: Abandoned Guy
Chapter 94: Abandoned Guy
We turned to the source of the voice.
And when we saw him, we immediately turned back toward the exit, trying to run.
Because the one calling us was none other than Linus, the guy we abandoned this morning.
"Wait, you two!"
But this guy was much faster. He had already run ahead and stopped in front of us, blocking our escape.
"Ohh, Linus. Long time no see. How are you?" Bob said, trying to clap Linus’s hand like some kind of street gang.
Linus accepted the clap. "What are you talking about? We just met this morning. Why didn’t you wait for me? I’ve been sitting here for hours. I even read all the quests on the board, twice."
How boring are you to spend your whole time reading the quest board?
We then sat at one of the tables.
"I’m really sorry. But err... our senior really wanted to move fast, so he decided to leave without you," I gave an excuse, putting all the blame on Beltimore.
Sorry, senior.
"Is that so? Hmmm... then nothing you both could’ve done," Linus said, folding his arms and thinking.
"Well, now that you guys are here, I’m officially a guild member." He showed off his badge: a five-petal flower with a bright color on his chest.
"Yeaaa..." Bob and I clapped with zero expression on our faces.
So this guy really became an adventurer just because of us. How obsessive can someone be?
"What rank are you?" Bob asked flatly while drinking water from his bag. He clearly had no expectations for Linus.
"Me? I’m just Rank A. Though I really wanted to be S-rank."
Pffffft!
Bob spat all the water out like a spray jet.
"You’re A-rank?! You?" Bob asked, genuinely shocked.
That meant this guy was as strong as Beltimore and Alice, who were also A-rank.
"Yes." Linus nodded confidently.
I wasn’t all that surprised by his rank, because deep down, I knew he was strong.
"I heard from people here that there’s a new S-rank in this guild. That must be one of you, right?" he asked.
Bob puffed out his chest. "Don’t ask something you already know."
"So it was you, Bob. But I thought both of you should be S-rank, you two have the same strength, just like back in Lily Town."
"Well... things happened. But even if Alan isn’t officially S-rank, he’s still considered one," Bob said, covering for me.
"I agree with that. Honestly, no one here is stronger than you two," Linus said, smiling.
Listening to his words really made me feel more at peace. Ever since I got G-rank,or rather, classless, I admit it’s been on my mind since yesterday. I know I’m way better than that, but still... having such a low rank kind of demotivates you, even if just a little.
"Anyway... see here." Linus brought out a quest paper and placed it on the table. "This is a quest I’ve properly chosen after spending the whole day looking. Let’s do it now," he said, smiling energetically.
Is this guy joking?
Does this guy also not have common sense like Bob?
"Are you kidding me? We just finished a quest today that took the whole day, and you want us to embark on another one? Well, no thank you. Besides, we’re still not members yet. As you can see, we don’t have a badge," Bob snapped. Now he the one that had common sense.
Linus looked confused.
"Why are you S-rank but still not guild members? And the quest you took today, how did you even take it?"
I glanced at Bob, who was now avoiding eye contact with me.
"There’s... some issue. But it’ll be settled soon. I hope," I replied. "The quest we did today was a kind of special trial to test us."
"I see. So that means you can’t take this one yet, it seems..." Linus looked dejected.
Even if we were eligible to take the quest, we still wouldn’t take it. Not today.
Bob then stood up, stretched, yawned, and scratched his belly.
"I’m tired already. We want to go back to our room now," Bob said as he walked toward the exit.
I stood up too. When I glanced at Linus, he looked like someone who just had their proposal rejected. I sighed. A small wave of pity bubbled inside me.
"Once we get our badge, we’ll do your quest. Just hold onto it for now," I said.
Linus looked up at me with a bright, happy face and nodded eagerly.
I then walked toward Bob, who was already ahead. As I walked, I thought to myself, if this Linus guy really joins our adventure later, that means I’ll have to take care of another troublesome dude. Bob is already a handful for me to handle alone.
I exhaled deeply. I really need someone to help me control these two. Someone more strict than me.

Cynthia was in her room, lying on her bed. Her room had a simple design, one bed, a cupboard, and a desk.
It was a place she rented herself, on the outskirts of the city. As a royal knight, she had been offered a luxury house in the noble district, but she refused it. The view here was better, and it was more peaceful, with far fewer people around.
She kept staring at her pendant, a small locket that held a picture of her parents and herself as a child.
It was the only thing she had left. Everything else had been burned down with their house ten years ago... along with her happiness.
She kept opening and closing the pendant.
Then she sat on the edge of her bed, frowning.
’Why are they still not coming yet?’ she thought.
She looked at the clock, it was already 10 p.m.
Usually, every night, a robed figure would come and bring her to meet Sir Kelar for the treatment session. For the past ten years, she had never missed a single one. Even when she was on campaign, the robed figure would teleport her without fail.
But tonight was different.
They’ve never been this late. Did something happen? Cynthia wondered.
She then lay back on her bed, staring at the pendant again... before slowly drifting off to sleep.
