Chapter 14 - 14: The Birth of the Blade Queen

Shasha—!

From deep within the forest, rustling echoed through the underbrush.

Two massive, spear-like legs emerged first, followed by a pitch-black, monstrous body creeping into view.

It was a grotesque creature, around one or two meters long, with eight massive limbs stretching five to six meters each, stabbing deep into the ground as it walked.

A colossal spider slowly made its way out, cautiously observing several strange, menacing creatures nearby.

It raised its front limbs slightly, revealing a white pattern on its abdomen that eerily resembled a human face.

Its densely packed, purple-glowing eyes glared at the dense foliage ahead—where two massive, serpentine creatures lay in ambush, their narrow crimson eyes locked on the spider with ruthless intent.

A deadly silence blanketed the forest. Both sides stood still like statues.

"Hiss—!"

The Zerglings struck first, spreading out and lunging at the spider from all directions!

The spider didn't panic. A violent violet light burst from its body.

It opened its sharp mandibles and spat out a massive corrosive web, ensnaring three Zerglings in front of it.

The toxic acid covering the web quickly dissolved them, their bodies breaking apart.

Yet even as half their bodies melted away, the Zerglings writhed, still trying to tear through the web and attack!

Clack clack clack—!

The spider's spear-like legs paced uneasily. The tenacity of these creatures clearly unsettled it.

Seizing the moment, several more Zerglings leapt onto its back, clawing and tearing into it.

Two others attacked from a distance, trying to chew into its legs.

But the spider's inky-black carapace was incredibly tough—their claws barely scratched it.

With a sharp screech, it flexed its limbs and violently shook the attackers off, then raised one leg and impaled a Zergling with brutal force.

Whoosh—!

Two blobs of corrosive venom shot through the air like cannonballs, splashing against the spider's armored body.

Szzzzzt—!

The acid sizzled and bubbled, barely eating through part of its carapace.

The spider howled in pain, its eight legs carrying it into a frenzied charge toward the tall grass.

Boom—!

The ground beneath it suddenly gave way—a five-meter-wide sinkhole opened up.

From the earth burst a massive obsidian spike, cloaked in a dark shimmering energy. Anything it touched was instantly obliterated.

The spike pierced straight through the spider's body and hoisted it high into the air!

After a moment, the ten-meter spike retracted, dragging the spider's corpse back underground.

Two kilometers away, within a patch of thick undergrowth, a pyramid-shaped, purple-black structure pulsated quietly. It siphoned verdant energy from the grass-covered ground.

At the apex, a recessed pit generated another large spike, glistening ominously in the light.

All of this was witnessed from ten thousand meters above, by an Overlord floating among the clouds. Through the Zerg hive mind, the entire scene was relayed back to the Hive.

Lin Fan nodded in satisfaction—his strategy had succeeded.

Even a Man-Faced Demon Spider on the verge of becoming a 10,000-year beast had fallen without warning, skewered by the Spine Crawler's devastating blow.

Controlling a Zergling, Lin Fan inspected the spider's corpse. Aside from the brilliant violet spirit ring hovering above it, there was nothing left.

He sighed. This was the sixteenth Man-Faced Demon Spider his hunting squads had taken down—yet still no sign of the Eight Spider Lances spirit bone.

In the original story, Tang San had obtained the external spirit bone from just a 2,000-year-old spider. That kind of luck was outrageous.

Here in the outer zones of the Star Dou Forest, even finding century-old spiders was rare.

But thanks to the Overlords' surveillance, Lin Fan's squads had been able to hunt down more than a dozen in a single day—and still not a single spirit bone drop.

Lin Fan cursed under his breath. "What kind of 'Child of Destiny' luck is this? Do I have to kill it myself to get anything?!"

He resentfully withdrew his spiritual link, closing his eyes to rest.

Still, the day hadn't been fruitless. The Overlords were now fully deployed, blanketing a thousand-kilometer radius around the hive complex.

Spores had been evenly scattered across the land—turning it all into Zerg creep disguised as natural grassland.

Every 2.5 kilometers, a Spine Crawler was placed, creating ringed layers of defense that spread deeper into the Star Dou Forest.

Below ground, the Zerg tunnel network had become a sprawling subterranean empire.

Lin Fan admired the scale of his growing army. His Zerg units now numbered over ten thousand—enough to sweep the outer forest in waves of unrelenting force.

Stretching, he made his way to the entrance of the level-3 Hive and looked up at the giant serpent-dragon statue perched atop it.

His eyes burned with ambition. Once he extracted a flying soul beast's genes, his air force would be complete.

He stepped inside and entered the Nidus Chamber.

Only one minute remained.

The giant white cocoon floated silently, suspended midair.

A suffocating energy pulsed from within—an overwhelming, void-like force that hinted at destruction.

Black ripples of energy emanated from the cocoon in waves.

Lin Fan stared in fascination. He could feel the immense psychic force gathering inside—so powerful, it even exceeded his own as the Hive Mind.

Crack—!

A faint crack appeared on the cocoon.

Crack crack—!

More fractures spread rapidly.

With a final shatter, the cocoon exploded into a flurry of white fragments, drifting down like snow.

From within the snowy haze stepped a breathtaking figure—completely unclothed.

Silky, violet-black hair cascaded over her pale shoulders.

Her enchanting crimson eyes shimmered with seductive allure. A flawless face, soft red lips curled into a knowing smile.

Her chest heaved like crashing waves.

Her snow-white body was pure and unblemished. Long legs, toned and graceful, supported a slender waist that sparked endless imagination.

She approached barefoot, her every step elegant and silent.

Large, bone-like wings unfolded from her back, encasing both herself and Lin Fan.

Then, a long tail wrapped around his waist and gently pulled him into her embrace.

A sweet fragrance tickled his nose.

The girl leaned close, her warm breath teasing his ear.
