Chapter 248: Chapter 248: The Romantic Dilemma—Resolved!

The moment Li Chang’an said, "You’re all my precious treasures," Ning Rongrong’s cheeks instantly flushed red, while Meng Yiran simply smiled faintly. Yet that smile carried an unspoken meaning.

Before Xiao Wu could erupt, Li Chang’an quickly added:

"Of course, Xiao Wu, Zhuqing—you two are just as important to me. I would never abandon either of you."

Even so, Xiao Wu’s small fists still landed on his chest, her rabbit-like eyes reddening as she beat against him in grievance.

Without hesitation, Li Chang’an released Meng Yiran’s hand, pulled Xiao Wu into his arms, and gently patted her back.

"Yes, I admit I may seem a little unrestrained. But I swear to the heavens, my feelings for all of you are real. Each of you knows this in your heart—you can feel my care, my affection. I don’t want to lose any of you."

"To love one person is not wrong. To love more than one person is not wrong either. If you believe in my love, then I hope we can sit together, share a meal, and talk things through. If you don’t, then you’re free to leave me."

His tone turned serious as he loosened his embrace. He knew he could no longer simply coax his way through; better to be honest, even firm.

"Don’t... I believe you love me. I just... couldn’t accept it all at once," Xiao Wu whispered, tugging at his sleeve like a lost child. After so many years together, leaving him was never an option—and when Li Chang’an grew serious, she couldn’t help but feel a little afraid.

Zhu Zhuqing let out a quiet, ironic laugh. "Do you think I still have the option of leaving you now?"

Li Chang’an sighed inwardly. He had resolved most of the tension, but the scars of jealousy would not fade overnight. Still, with the tournament fast approaching, he couldn’t wait months for emotions to heal naturally. He needed a swifter, more decisive way.

"Then let’s find somewhere private. We’ll eat, and we’ll talk properly."

With that, he wrapped both arms around the girls beside him—firmly, leaving no chance for them to slip away. He also shot Meng Yiran a subtle glance.

She blinked in brief surprise, then smiled knowingly in return. She understood his intent immediately—and, oddly, found it a little exciting.

---

They gathered in a private dining room at the Li Family’s inn near Shrek Academy—reserved by Li Chang’an himself, complete with guest rooms upstairs.

Li Chang’an lifted a bottle of strong liquor, sealed his soul power, and drained it in one breath.

"Forgive me. Today’s chaos is my fault. I’ll punish myself with this bottle."

Zhu Zhuqing frowned, her cool voice tinged with worry. "Enough. What’s done is done. I don’t blame you. Don’t ruin your body with this."

Meng Yiran quickly spoke up to ease the tension. "She’s right. You don’t need to go this far. But since you’ve drunk, I’ll share one with you."

She, too, sealed her soul power, poured a glass, and finished it. She knew what he intended and willingly played her role as peacemaker.

Seeing this, the others could hardly keep up their coldness. One by one, they sealed their soul power and drank as well.

What they didn’t notice was the playful brush of Meng Yiran’s foot against Li Chang’an’s leg beneath the table, followed by a mischievous wink:

Li Chang’an squeezed her ankle gently in return, silently acknowledging her.

---

The strong liquor flushed their cheeks, loosening tongues and hearts alike. Meng Yiran nudged the conversation forward:

"Rongrong, when did you first fall for Chang’an?"

Rongrong blushed furiously. "...From the very first day I met him, I think."

"Really? Rongrong, I didn’t expect you to be such a little flirt," Xiao Wu teased, trying to hide her own embarrassment.

As laughter circled the table, Zhu Zhuqing stayed quiet, yet she listened intently. Whenever no one was watching, her cheeks warmed, her shoulders trembling ever so slightly at Li Chang’an’s hidden touches under the table. Xiao Wu, too, flushed deeper—she knew that familiar hand too well.

Meanwhile, Meng Yiran, ever bold, let her long legs brush teasingly against his.

By the time the night waned, the wine had left them all a little dizzy, their young bodies unaccustomed to the strong drink without soul power to shield them.

Li Chang’an, ever prepared, guided them upstairs one by one. The inn’s great bed was more than large enough for them all.

He knew it well: the surest way to dissolve jealousy wasn’t to argue it away, but to let them share something unforgettable—together.

And so, the romantic dilemma was resolved... though, of course, he himself would have to shoulder the "burden" of making it work.
