Doted By The Regent King-Chapter 1435 - 1373: Encountering a Tiger While Hunting
The next morning, after having breakfast, Wufu and the others, heeding the repeated warnings from the Farmstead to beware of fierce beasts, headed up the mountain with their bows and arrows.
The group ventured into the mountain, startling birds to take flight. Animals with an acute sense of danger scattered in all directions, yet some still fell into the hands of Wufu and his companions.
"Xiao Qi, keep your hand steady, calm your mind, and learn to discern position by listening to the wind." Wufu instructed Xiao Qi in using the bow and arrow.
Ah Jiu crossed his arms, watching Wufu correct Xiao Qi’s posture, and raised an eyebrow, saying, "You’re really good to him!"
"Yes, just like that." Wufu corrected Xiao Qi, then snorted at Ah Jiu’s words, "Of course, he’s one of my people, naturally, I have to treat him well."
"I hope he lives up to your teachings!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Qi turned his head, glaring at Ah Jiu, seemingly displeased with the remark.
Ah Jiu narrowed his eyes, neither avoiding nor dodging, and met Xiao Qi’s gaze for a while.
Xiao Qi backed down, feeling very upset; how could he doubt his loyalty to Wufu!
Ah Jiu was not doubting him, just advising him. Wufu would not tolerate betrayal, and since Xiao Qi was someone she rescued and often kept by her side, if he were to betray her, it would break her heart. Thus, Ah Jiu wanted to nip any such possibility in the bud, instilling loyalty in him early on, never to betray!
"Xiao Qi, go have some fun. You’ve learned quite a bit from your brothers, it’s time to test it out in action." Wufu patted Xiao Qi’s shoulder encouragingly.
Xiao Qi pressed his lips together, nodded, and quickly darted into the forest.
"Don’t scare him, that child is very sensitive." Wufu said to Ah Jiu once Xiao Qi had disappeared.
Ah Jiu replied, "I don’t care about others, I only care about you. I can’t let others hurt your heart." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"People I don’t care about can’t hurt me!" Wufu sneered.
"That’s why I’m advising him. Don’t you care about that Wolf Child too!" Ah Jiu retorted.
Well, she couldn’t argue with that.
Wufu rolled her eyes and walked forward, spotting a Sika deer on a distant boulder, and exclaimed with delight, "It’s a Sika deer."
Ah Jiu had already nocked an arrow and was about to shoot, but the deer jumped off the rock and ran away.
Wufu laughed heartily and chased after it.
Having lost face in front of his sweetheart, Ah Jiu felt embarrassed and annoyed, and he too chased after it.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t catch another glimpse of the deer.
"Where did it run off to!" Wufu searched everywhere for the Sika deer, hoping to roast some venison.
Just as Ah Jiu was about to respond, a tiger’s roar suddenly echoed from the east, resonating through the forest.
Flapping noises.
With the tiger’s roar, the forest birds were startled into chaotic flight.
Then, a wolf’s howl rang out.
Wufu and Ah Jiu exchanged glances and said, "Oh no, Xiao Qi went that way."
"Let’s go."
The two of them ran towards the source of the tiger and wolf sounds.
The forest was thick with underbrush, yet it didn’t slow their footsteps in the slightest. In just a moment, they passed through a thicket and saw ahead: one person, one wolf, and one tiger in fierce combat, though the wolf looked extremely weakened.
"Xiao Qi!" Wufu was taken aback, rushing forward in a panic.
"Wait, don’t move yet. He can still handle it, Su Luo and the others are also here." Ah Jiu held her back.
Wufu looked over and indeed, Su Luo and the others had their bows and arrows aimed at the White Tiger, surrounding them in a circle, with Hoo Die also leaping into the fray.
White Tiger Skin is rare, and to peel it off in one piece, the arrows must be precise, with aiming for the tiger’s eyes as the best shot.
Wufu didn’t care about the tiger skin, her eyes were fixed solely on Xiao Qi.
Xiao Qi watched as the White Tiger bit into the gray wolf’s neck, letting out a sharp howl. With movements swift as lightning, he leapt onto the White Tiger’s back, his dagger swiftly thrusting into the tiger’s eye.
