Don't Mess with That Dragon-Chapter 647 - 035: Descent!
Defeated,
completely defeated.
Edward's heart was at ease.
He lay on his back on the ground,
suddenly recalling that campfire night, the feast beneath the starry sky in the open field.
Back then,
the two, who were drunk, discussed the heroes of this world.
Edward believed that the heroes of this era were none other than Lambert, a ranger who rose from a declining noble to conquer the world, defeating the legendary powerhouses of enemy nations as a half-legendary, and then instantly ascending to the legendary realm, becoming a powerhouse that shook the land, with minstrels across the Central Earth World praising him as the Ranger King.
He was free and unrestrained, traveling the world, the freest person in this world.
If he wasn't a hero, who could be considered a hero?
However, Valen believed,
the true hero was Charles George Philip, King of Crescent Kingdom, one of the oldest of the Seven Kingdoms, with Crescent Kingdom now strong enough to potentially become the hegemon of the entire Central Earth World, intimidating numerous nations.
His mother and wife hailed from the two most powerful of the Seven Kingdoms, and he himself was a direct descendant of one of the Seven Sages, rumored as the founders of Crescent Kingdom, with an extraordinarily noble bloodline.
His children and siblings were also allied through marriage with other powerful kingdoms, maintaining close ties with other nations,
regarding both control power over his nation and other aspects, he nearly stood atop the power pinnacle of the Central Earth World, reaching an unprecedented height, truly worthy of being called the King of Kings.
Such a king was what truly defined a hero.
That night, they argued fervently over drinks, citing various examples to validate their definition of hero.
It was one of those rare times they disagreed,
and until the end, they didn't come to a conclusion.
Yet,
under the starry sky that night, in their youthful vigor, they both believed one thing:
In the future,
one day, they would become heroes.
Time flew by,
in the blink of an eye, it had been over a decade or two.
The arguments of the past, the words they believed with fervor in their youth, had long been forgotten in the grind of life.
However, at this moment,
for some reason, that scene from the past vividly resurfaced before Edward's eyes.
"Valen... brother, you are the true hero."
"A true hero has never been about how powerful they are, how noble their bloodline is, or how much power they hold... but about those who, regardless of whether their power is weak or strong, are willing to stand before the weak, wield the sword in their hand, fighting for the vast populace!"
"I felt your conviction."
At this moment, the emotions in Edward's heart were indescribable.
It might be blessings, sighs, regrets... all sorts of feelings.
"Come, brother Valen, take my head... this might be my final insignificant atonement for those who perished due to my laughable pride..."
Edward,
completely gave up resisting.
Perhaps, dying by the sword of an old friend might be the best outcome for this foolish life.
Silence,
death-like silence.
Air filled with deathly stillness.
The longsword that Valen raised high trembled slightly,
the trembling grew more intense.
His heart lacked peace.
"I'm sorry, Edward!"
Valen closed his reddened eyes, his voice slightly trembling, gripping the longsword tightly,
a tear
fell from the corner of his eye.
His heart felt exceedingly painful.
But,
he had no choice.
The longsword raised high aimed at Edward's neck on the ground, stabbed downward swiftly.
As if trying to sever the past,
cutting off the road to light, thereby dwelling in darkness.
Ding!
Sparks flew in all directions,
when the longsword reached Edward's neck, it seemed to stab into an invisible wall,
preventing the sharp blade from piercing through.
Valen was astonished,
but before he could react,
a vast and mighty presence, which filled the heavens and earth,
descended upon his former friend!
Boom!!!
Between heaven and earth, a fierce dimensional spatial collision seemed to occur,
with a burst of lightning splitting the sky, casting a blinding whiteness on the world. A powerful aura surged and shook the Celestial Secret Aura of the entire Kawa Great Forest.
At that moment,
it was as if the Divine descended from the Divine Kingdom, and its immense divine power enveloped the earth within thousands of miles. Countless living beings prostrated themselves as if welcoming the arrival of a great presence!
The earth trembled, thunder raged, bolts of lightning like serpents danced wildly, tearing the great sky apart. In the blink of an eye, torrents of rain poured down, the space swayed violently like a mirror in the storm. Giant mountains trembled, rocks crashed down, blocking the river, with apocalyptic might crushing everything in its path.
The entire world seemed to be on the brink of a desperate doomsday disaster!
"What is this?"
Valen's eyes were wide with shock as he stared dumbfoundedly at the high sky before him, his mouth agape.
Without knowing when,
the body of his former friend radiated an incredibly brilliant light, akin to an ocean of molten gold. Under the sun's illumination, it emitted a boundless golden glow, rippling with blinding waves of light!
Edward's body was covered in a layer of splendid golden radiance, suspended high in the air, like the holy son of myth and legend, carrying the descent of the Divine to the mortal world.
Under the vast pressure, Valen couldn't help but kneel on the ground, prostrating before him.
Yet for some reason,
an inexplicable power rose in his heart, suppressing this impulse with great force.
"Mortal, you have disappointed me!"
A magnificent, boundless voice echoed in Edward's heart.
"Since you have given up, then leave what follows to me! Remember, it's your honor to bear the divine might!"
Then,
without any negotiation,
a domineering, boundless consciousness took over Edward's body.
The consciousness of some great existence, through some means,
descended!
Words cannot describe this great presence,
the moment it descended, every creature seemed to sense the aura that even made the world tremble with fear!
In the void,
huge ripples and tides surged, impacting the Celestial Secret Aura.
"Edward" slowly opened his eyes,
magnificent divine light blossomed between his pupils. In the depths of his eyes, deep within the endless abyss of darkness, a majestic throne sat high, presiding over a legendary presence of infinite greatness.
Valen stood on the ground, at a loss for words, his throat choked.
What he saw was a figure cloaked in layers of dazzling divine radiance, so bright it seemed to rival the sun, perpetually exuding a vast divine might that burned everything.
Under the throne, countless golden figures swayed and submitted, the chant of the church choir echoing ceaselessly in the void, carrying a mystical magic that almost threatened to assimilate him at that moment.
Valen's eyes were dazed, ready to lay down his longsword, lose himself amidst the ever-resonant praises.
And at that moment,
"Stand back, what follows is not something you can be a part of!"
A clear, indifferent voice rang in his ears, pulling Valen back to reality from the illusionary trance.
Immediately after,
he felt behind him,
as if an endless greatness descended like a world, bringing with it an unfathomable depth of awe-inspiring might, the limitless void surged, countless light and shadows swirled in reverse all around.
Everything around, whether the shattered earth, soaring golden pillars, or other palace gates, all man-made things at that moment seemed to "fly backward" as if in a painting.
Layer upon layer of space,
squeezed and repelled these real substances bit by bit, forming an extraordinarily vast space, directly linking to the depths of the Dragon Nest Hall.
In the depths of the hall,
a figure stood suspended in the void, eyes flashing with profound brilliance, looking through layers of spatial illusions, making eye contact with "Edward."
"Can't bear it anymore to step in personally, can you, Mr. Mastermind?"
